An otherwise non eventual morning in the launderette was brightened up by the laundry guy playing the following tune

"It Had Better Be Tonight (Meglio Stasera)" (vocal version). This is from the film The Pink Panther. A woman sings it in a night club and then there is a scene in the snow with skiers where the tune is played as an instrumental.

I love that song. As I came in I said I know that and it was sung in Italian in a film but forgot what film He told me he found the instrumental version and it was in the film The Pink Panther!

So for a while we listened to the female version, a more modern male version and then the instrumental. It is in my head now and has really made me quite cheery!

@HildaTablet

My ex flatmate used to get all her ski stuff from the one in Ken High Street. I could not get over getting 3 pairs of Ralph Lauren trousers in my size (was size 18 then). No longer have the trousers and they would not fit at the moment anyway! However the plus size is usually disgusting blouses - really awful looking.

They do some nice toiletries too.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/04/2025 14:19

It's 6:16am here. I'm up getting ready as I have appt for the car for 7:30. I checked two MN threads I had commented on yesterday and they're now deleted. 😭
They were very amusing, too!

Deathraystare · 23/04/2025 14:23

@Mumtobabyhavoc

Gosh! The time difference! You at 06.16 am when it is 14.19 across the pond from you!! Shame about those threads. Weird how that happens.

MyrtleLion · 23/04/2025 18:09

Inspired by a thread on brilliant advice from MN I changed my superking duvet and discovered I was inserting it into the cover correctly - kings and superkings are wider than long but a lot of people put the longest side in lengthways.

Feeling smug.

Also applied for another job, chased a recruiter for an application pack and asked for a call from another recruiter.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/04/2025 18:59

Got car serviced from handsome and flirty mechanic this morning. Likely the only honest mechanic in the city. Oil change/filter, on the hoist and fully inspected including wheels taken off inspected/brakes checked. $150 with tax. 🙌

Got home and made apple cinnamon pancakes with maple syrup and whipped cream. Just finishing a latte in my new and pretty cup. 🤗🥞☕️

It's a special day for me re baby (a rainbow) so taking dc out to do something extra fun. 🤗🧁

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/04/2025 19:01

Myrtle, I just bought a new duvet & cover and they fit together perfectly. It really makes a difference!
Death, yes, I enjoy reading about the future from the posts here. 🙂

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/04/2025 19:20

The threads, btw, were about poo left on a person's doorstep and wrapped and placed on the car's windshield (advice was to install cameras); and the woman wondering what to do about her new boyfriend as she discovered he grunts like a dinosaur during sex. 😂😂😂

I saw both of those threads. Could MN have taken them down after discovering that they were posted by previously banned trolls?

It's been even nicer today, so lots more turtles came out. Look at the tiny one I boxed in blue. So cute.

Miss, please keep the turtle pics coming! 😍😍😍

I don't know about the threads being removed...
your thought could be right, but the message usually says poster previously banned. These messages said talk guidelines broken. The threads were soooo entertaining! One person suggested getting police to do a dna test! 😭. I wrote, It's not major crimes...😂
The dino one though 🤦‍♀️ Sister set the bar higher. Why continue? ...

Does anyone else imagine we're all neighbours talking over our fences in our back yards? 🙃

I missed both those interesting-sounding threads. Shame 😂😂

Myrtle, I saw that thread tip about the duvets too!

DandyDandylion · 23/04/2025 21:36

I hope mini turtle manages to get his share of whatever they are eating. Runts don’t always do well in other litters.
I would be quite happy to chat over the fence to you guys but not other mumsnetters. It’s a bit of a jungle out there with people being very obnoxious at times.
I packed the dc off to school today and feel oddly satisfied to have done lots of laundry and generally straightened out the house. Love them but also love the quiet when there’re not here.

I read the thread about poo on the doorstep which struck me as very odd.

mathanxiety · 24/04/2025 04:15

Deathray I have that tune on a Spotify playlist of mine. I love it.

We had a warm day here again, even a little muggy, after a wet night and early morning. I brought my Boston ferns, asparagus ferns, and ivy out to the deck and gave them all a good watering.

And I want to know if the OP will put up cameras and report back!!!!! 🕵️

Umanresources · 24/04/2025 10:41

I saw the poo thread as well. Bizarre! I read some threads but apart from this one, I only contribute to the telly pages and non controversial ones. I keep away from news and politics!
Today I plan to sort out some games I got for my grandsons for summer. Putting them all together in a large box I got. I managed to pass on some picture books that they outgrew but I know there are a couple of hundred more in the room my daughter uses a an office now. I stopped counting the books when I got to 650. I bought them quite a few series as well, from the Narnia books, a prolific Enid Blyton, and beautifully illustrated Harry Potter books as well. I know I do have a book obsession. We do have 14 bookcases I have just realised! Oops just remembered the 2 new small ones in the living room. Perhaps I need to cull those as well, although I did give away two full boxes to a charity shop. It's my chance to get in there while she is away.
I have a dress to shorten as well, which has been waiting for several weeks. I keep moving it around in the living room, instead of getting on with it!
Procrastination seems to be my middle name now. 🙃

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/04/2025 14:05

Been awake since 4am. WHY GOD, WHY??? 😫

That's alotta books, Uman...

MyrtleLion · 24/04/2025 14:58

I got rid of a lot of books when we moved 4 years ago but I still have three boxes to go through and of course I have bought more since. I always buy paperbacks to read on holiday but the rest of the time it's audiobooks. I've read 31 books so far this year. My aim is for at least 100.

I even listen in the two minutes going to the loo or making tea which adds up surprisingly.

HildaTablet · 24/04/2025 15:12

We’re book twins then, Myrtle. My total has been north of 100 for the past few years. I don’t do audiobooks though - I just can’t for some reason. I have to read the print iyswim.

Deathraystare · 25/04/2025 15:10

@MissConductUS

It must be the sunlight but those turtles look like there shells are a shiny bronze colour!!!

mathanxiety

Ahh! Glad someone else knows the tune! Sadly it is out of my head now!

MissConductUS · 25/04/2025 15:36

@Deathraystare, I see what you mean about the color.

I found the turtles in a new location, closer to the shore yesterday.

I'm so glad that spring seems to have firmly and finally arrived. I should start putting high SPF sunscreen on my face and arms in the morning.

Stuffed now! The pizzaman came to deliver to the ward but the person could not pay for it and he asked me if I would want it as I was vegetarian so I got a free 15" pizza and shared it with two porters. Still too much for me! Very kind of him though!

IWanderedLonely · 25/04/2025 21:51

It's been windy here today. We should gone to Wales yesterday but our Campervan has broken down. Waiting for an estimate for repairs. I went into work to save my annual leave hours, then we went out for dinner (lunch for non-Northerners). I had a gorgeous, very large Greek Salad.

sproutsandparsnips · 25/04/2025 23:11

@MyrtleLionmy mind is blown. Perhaps this is why my bedding does not sit correctly…..
@Deathraystarewin win re pizza! I love the theme tune to the Pink Panther! It’s genius.
went straight from work to watch DS2 play rugby. The team worked hard but were absolutely outplayed. DS has MoTM though for showing true grit and determination and hitting the rucks hard. I was proud…..
