Crumpits all the way here :)

Went to the gym for an hour and a bit, then a wonderful 1200m swim. People are starting to come to the beach, families with children, after the winter. Such glorious weather! The sun is just heavenly. Apparently I'm getting something of a suntan on my back, but my front is still Celtic-white :D

MyrtleLion · 09/03/2025 15:13

Building a new book nook. Reading. Enjoying the sunshine. Very laid back weekend here.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/03/2025 15:45

Good morning everyone. It's 8:40, but clocks "sprung ahead" last night, so it's 7:40 to my body...🥱

The English muffins, as we call them here, are what you'd find with eggs Benny, or at McDonald's for the egg Mcmuffin.

Havoc had a fever yesterday and is still asleep. It's still raining and 8c.

HildaTablet · 09/03/2025 16:05

I think I’ve just outed myself as someone who never eats at McDonalds (and I can’t abide eggs in any recognisable form - unless they’re completely disguised in cake! - so I’d run screaming from Eggs Benedict). Hence lack of familiarity with muffins.

It's a beautiful day in my little corner of the world too and I’ve had a surprisingly productive day. Changed the bed-linen, did a load of laundry which is drying on the line in the sunshine, went to the shops for food, fed the robins in the garden (repeatedly), cut down a lot of overhanging branches from an over-large tree/shrub, cleaned the dusty-greasy film off the cooker-hood and sent some essential emails.

Now sitting down with a tea and a reduced-price hot-cross bun. Roast lamb for dinner. Phew.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/03/2025 17:51

Sounds like a great day, Hilda. 😊

I will look for crumpets next. I know I've seen them in regular grocery stores before....🤓

I just had to cancel two Amazon orders. One was for landscaping lights and the other a knife sharpener. Apparently, Havoc thought we needed them. 🤦‍♀️
Thankfully, I have the alert turned on for credit card purchases, so when I saw that pop-up I was able to act quickly and cancel. 😅

Toddlers. 🤷‍♀️

Itisallgoingtobeok · 09/03/2025 18:24

I've had a lovely chilled day. I went for a glorious walk in the sunshine, cleaned the kitchen (which always makes me feel good), had a nap, and now I'm reading the paper.

I live days like this. Smile

Itisallgoingtobeok · 09/03/2025 18:25

@Mumtobabyhavoc did I read that correctly? Your toddler went shopping on Amazon?!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/03/2025 18:30

Itisallgoingtobeok · 09/03/2025 18:25

@Mumtobabyhavoc did I read that correctly? Your toddler went shopping on Amazon?!

Yes, correct. Opened the app, tapped whatever and tapped purchases. I'm not it was understood, though. likely just tapping and thinking, Hmm, what's this?
Havoc was very excited about lights, though.

Once I cancelled I very loudly and sternly told Havoc not to touch mummy's phone. Havoc went hiding for a bit after that.

HildaTablet · 09/03/2025 19:11

Oh no, Havoc! But that did make me laugh 🤭

IWanderedLonely · 09/03/2025 19:26

Oh dear Havoc 😂I can imagine my grandson doing that.
We're preparing to decorate the dining room. I knew it was overdue, but I'm appalled to realise we last did it 15 years ago 😱
I've got a line of paint sample cards taped to the wall. The room is north facing and very dark.

Ahsheeit · 09/03/2025 19:33

@IWanderedLonely would it make you feel any better to know that I've had the stuff to decorate my bathroom for 3 years, but still not got around to it? 😉

sproutsandparsnips · 09/03/2025 22:24

@Mumtobabyhavoc ah bless Havoc! Good job you're on the ball to cancel!
Been standing in the lovely sunshine this morning and early afternoon watching DS2 play in a round robin with two other local ish teams in a similar position. The boys were thrilled to win one game. DS played his heart out and is battered and bruised but happy. My back is aching from all the standing around!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/03/2025 22:37

@sproutsandparsnips Had I not seem it when it popped up I would have been very confused at delivery! 😂

Sounds like a great day for your ds. 😊

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/03/2025 05:00

The rain finally stopped late this afternoon, so I took dc out to the airport park again after dinner for a run around. It was a bit chilly and windy, but the clouds got blown away and we ended up with clear sky to look at the stars. The moon is now to the left of Orion and I saw threes stars in a triangle to the right of the moon. They were quite distinctive, but I don't know if they are part of a specific constellation.

Gorgeous photos! Sunny here again today, so I may even stick my sofa covers in to wash. Have a full health screening as part of my work health insurance this afternoon, which I'm looking forward to. Best bit is a full half hour with a GP, so all little niggles can be put to bed.

Have a lovely day all, this is a week off for me. 😊

MyrtleLion · 10/03/2025 13:12

I am poorly ick today. Sore throat, sinus headache - I never get headaches so this could be a doozy. I have a job interview on Thursday morning so I am hoping for it to come out in full force now so I will have recovered sufficiently to do the interview, or for it to go away quickly if it's a minor virus.

I am settled in front of the TV to rest. And I booked theatre tickets for next Thursday evening for a show and DH agreed to come with me. Which never happens normally.

DandyDandylion · 10/03/2025 13:53

My dd is off school Myrtle with a similar sounding virus. I had to pick her and when I got her home she had a very high temperature. Then I saw that the local hospital has shut to visitors due to high levels of norovirus. I am hoping the lovely weather will put paid to all these bugs soon.
I had a lovely weekend spending lots of time outside in the sun.

MissConductUS · 10/03/2025 14:27

Myrtle, that is exactly how I felt when I was coming down with the flu. See if you can get into the GP and get tested for it.

We set our clocks ahead an hour on Sunday morning, so we're all adjusting to the time change. I think you do it a bit later in the UK, so we're in that weird period when it's just a four hour difference between NY and London instead of the usual five.

DH ordered the new storm door, and we met with the carpenter to go over the plan for our window replacement and which sliding glass doors we want to replace with new ones, and which we want to replace with walls and standard windows. We have sliding glass doors running the full length of the house on the back side opening onto the deck, and it's more than we need.

We had some sun on Saturday and the cats took advantage of it by taking sun naps in the family room.

AHH Myrtle ...hope you feel better soon .

No blue skies here today ...but still very mild .

bizzey · 10/03/2025 22:06

MissC .....i loved that little window of the 1 hour less for a while of a clock change between the pond !!

It meant that while D's was over there ...he was only 4 hours away instead of 5. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂!!

Then 2 weeks later ...he was further away ...at 5 hours away !! 😜..

He loved his time there ...
But I am happy not to have the 2am phone calls anymore !!

Hello everyone. I didn't do pancakes as I don't like the texture. My son did his own (he is 32). I'm in my pyjamas on the sofa after a crazy work week. I've got next week off.

I loved seeing the stars the last couple of nights. Did get a pic, but it's a bit rubbish. The brightest bit is the crescent moon.

I saw the consultant about my nose crater! It's ulcerated, so have got to apply antibiotic cream for 3 weeks then go back to see if anything further is needed. It's less sore, so must be starting to heal.

A very happy Friday to you all. 😊

That's lovely that you are able to see stars! I saw them when with my friend in Kephallonia. We had to get up early to get the bus into town . We looked at the stars as we waited. My friend gave me a torch and when we heard a bus come we put the torches in our faces so the bus driver could see us. Despite my dad showing me pictures of the stars I have forgotten all the constellations!

Deathraystare · 11/03/2025 07:32

I don't know if USA/Canada does the clock back one hour before we do but it is all over the internet and I was confused because my watch, work clock, and computer still said the same time and I wasn't late! I remember now it is at the end of the month!

PumpkinPatchScarecrow · 11/03/2025 11:23

@Mumtobabyhavoc Small Pumpkin tries to do things like that too 🤣 She's very fond of the SOS Emergency Call screen. I don't know how she manages it as you have to hold both side buttons simultaneously for a few seconds. Yet, manage it she does. I'm going to have to turn that option off.

I'm glad you were able to cancel it all in time!

Deathraystare · 11/03/2025 11:34

MyrtleLion

Hope you are better soon. I bet the tv is shit. Normally is in the day time (until the quizzes come on!!).
