Lighthearted - What’s the most (stereotypically) middle class thing you’ve done/said recently?

I’ve just re-waxed my Barbour jacket…

What about you?

I'm on the committee for the village VE Day anniversary celebration

Doggymummar · 13/02/2025 14:02

Hmm, I Scotchgard ed my new boots, and bought a leather chesterfield sofa

LittleRedRidingHoody · 13/02/2025 14:02

DS (very politely) told the waitress at dinner the other night that he wasn't enjoying his chips and could he please have some bulgur wheat 🫠

almondfinger · 13/02/2025 14:03

Can I ask how you rewaxed the jacked. Mine needs to be done. I was just going to send it off somewhere.

MidnightPatrol · 13/02/2025 14:03

I’ve been looking for a nanny for my ski trip.

Smittenkitchen · 13/02/2025 14:03

Made my own muesli including freeze-dried strawberries and blueberries, puffed quinoa and chia seeds.

Kedgeroo · 13/02/2025 14:05

I came to this thread to find out what class I'd be if I lived in a class-y area. I definitely wouldn't be middle class! Does that mean I would be working class? Or is there anything in between them?

Actually that sounds nice, I wouldn't use chia ( don't really like it ) but I have puffed spelt I got at M&S that I could use up in this. Thanks for the idea.

We are working class, but nobody is better than anyone else just because they earn more money. We are all just people. I like the nicer things in life though. Mix of good deals in b & m and higher end items.

NormaNormalPants · 13/02/2025 14:07

Drove to more Waitrose than I care to admit on the hunt for reblochon so I could make tartiflette 😁

JasmineTea11 · 13/02/2025 14:12

I need to clean out the chickens..

Mumofmarauders · 13/02/2025 14:12

My sister overheard a mum saying to a toddler in Cambridge "I think you'll find that I've been more than accommodating, Barnaby" and though it was years ago, it still makes me laugh every time I think about it.

I bought a tin of wax online. You just put the tin in a saucepan with boiling water. Then when it’s melted, you can apply the wax with a cloth 😊

No not those blueberries sweetie they’re not organic (to my 4yr old, I wanted to swallow the words back up)

Allthegoodhorses · 13/02/2025 14:17

I was in Waitrose the other week and the shop assistant was yellow stickering bags of apples. I grabbed a couple of bags and told him these would be great for my horse. I did cringe as I walked away to be fair.

That's very funny!

Conversation with friends about middle age aches and pains -
"My wrists as so weak now that I can hardly lift my Le Crueset".

Thank you.

i was at the farmers market this morning stocking up on sourdough, chorizo and olives from a middle class point of view. While I thought ‘I really must relax my jacket’!

Reminds me of the time I was in Waitrose and heard a man shout “Spatial awareness!” to his very young child who was pushing their trolley 😆

MegTheForgetfulCat · 13/02/2025 14:25

The baby has just enjoyed some feta and spinach quiche for lunch. He had gnocchi for supper last night.

DC1 said to me earnestly the other day, "one day can we listen to movie night on Classic FM?" (He has no idea what this means, but I quite often have classic fm on in the kitchen whilst cooking and they often advertise their movie night. DC knows that movies = 🍿 so the ad has clearly made an impression 😅)

Isitafaultykitten · 13/02/2025 14:27

Complained about the cost of needing a new skiing helmet, and the horse needing new boots at the same time.

KStockHERO · 13/02/2025 14:34

I made my own pesto last weekend.

Yesterday DP referred our "finance portfolio" which is technically correct and fine, but also epic middle-class wankery.

Motherrr · 13/02/2025 14:36

Fed my 3 year old macadamia and Pecan nuts and now he's started asking for them... hope he doesn't do this at friends' houses Grin

Same question here. I thought I was middle class, but reading all the answers here, I feel much, much poorer 🤣🤣

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 13/02/2025 14:39

I breathed in a v m class fashion earlier. V amused.
