Peter Kay should he handle hecklers better?

Apparently Peter Kay had 3 hecklers removed from his show on Saturday night.
One man, who was with his ds, kept shouting garlic bread.
The woman that was removed shouted I love you Peter Kay.

Should a renowned comedian handle hecklers with more wit or should ?drunk hecklers be thrown out.

Thrown out, they spoil the show for everybody else

ScarletWitchM · 11/02/2025 20:58

I went to see Micky Flanagan a couple of years ago and one guy kept shouting “do the one about the cockney walk” and generally just interrupted and shouted constantly- he was removed and everyone was relieved as he was spoiling the show. So yes I think Peter Kay was right to get them chucked out

3rdtimeidiot · 11/02/2025 20:59

I went to a Peter Kay show last year and this woman behind piped up near the end, i can only assume she was drunk, screaming at the top of her lungs answering everything he said. For example if he said

"do you ever do that thing where you..."

and she would absolutely scream "omg yes I do!!!" She was getting some serious bombastic side eye from everyone near, bear in mind we were about half a bloody mile from the stage. 🙄

I was there and it was awkward to say the least. Apparently the guy was constantly saying it throughout the show we were on the other side only heard him shout it twice but from what I’ve heard the guy was bladdered and was being a pain generally so I think he was right to kick him out what I don’t think was right was the amount of abuse Peter then shouted and him and the other woman, it was over the top and just wasn’t funny. Went on for like over 5 minutes.

Maddy70 · 11/02/2025 21:04

Anyone spoiling the show for others should be removed

Iamallowedtodisagreewithyou · 11/02/2025 21:04

OH abSOLutely chuck them out.

People paid good money to hear Peter Kay - not some drunk twat.

Doloresparton · 11/02/2025 21:05

I think it’s been widely reported so wondered how bad it was.

Jimmy Carr seems to like being heckled.

i like to watch the show I have come to see not some drunk or Gobby person shouting. Good on Peter Kay for sorting it

I also read that the show was rather risque for Peter Kay, what did you think?

From what I've heard the Kay show is a disappointment, so maybe the heckles are a reflection of that?

FatAgain · 11/02/2025 21:09

All sounded excessively nasty…..I think Pete was just hangry.

He strikes me as having a fragile ego.

I think it depends on your comedy. I think he did the right thing. Peter Kay is more of a performance, he doesn't engage with the audience much. People have paid ££££ to be there.

I went to see the pub Landlord years ago and it was a very different vibe.

OnTheBoardwalk · 11/02/2025 21:10

I was at his show last year and there was the annoying 'garlic bread' man at the show annoying everyone. It must happen every fecking night

peter made comment around 'oh you’re pissed and just woke up, that’s a great night out for you please shut up now' this bloke did and the show carried on

who thinks the audience wants to hear them mouthing off at a show? Prob the same people who talk during gigs

STFU

Yes.
I don’t think he’s done the comedy circuit which I imagine is brutal.

I used to like him but went off him a few years ago, I wouldn't go and see him now. Getting someone removed for being a pain is fine but to then go on about it is unnecessary.

The same guy? Or just another annoying idiot?

I agree!

Another annoying idiot. There must be hundreds out there.

A lot of his set are proper stories, no spoilers we all know this, but having random people shouting annoys everyone

MiddlingMarch · 11/02/2025 21:17

I went to see Ross Noble quite a few years ago and there were two separate fist fights and someone was ejected after taking exception to a joke about Steve Irwin's death. I think some people forget that not all comedy shows are audience participation...

DollopOfFun · 11/02/2025 21:18

We saw Russell Howard years ago now, was brilliant until after the interval, when a group of young women, just SCREAMED every time he took a breath.

It was ridiculous, it really put him off throughout the second half. He kept trying to nicely plead with them to stop, to no avail, and the rest of the audience just got more pissed off. He was apologetic, but really I think they should've been asked to leave.

CallMeFlo · 11/02/2025 21:22

A lot of people who were there last night seem to agree he did the right thing.

I'd be seriously pissed off if I'd spent money and potentially waited a couple of years to see the show and some idiot was spoiling it

The female was so embarrassed and humiliated she's recounted the story to any media outlet that would listen 🙄
Clearly really embarrassed

Some drunk twat shouting "Garlic bread!" How tedious.

BubbleIceTea · 11/02/2025 21:22

I think hecklers are amusing and add to the entertainment. I sit back and watch how the comedian deals with them. To me, their response tells me a lot about their skills as a comedian, more so than their act.

Doloresparton · 11/02/2025 21:26

Barry Humphries would have made mincemeat of any hecklers.

Good, 100% supportive. I wish the person could be banned from any show for a period of time.
