I feel a bit better now. My friend took me out for a curry as a belated birthday present.

The silence is deafening.

I've been deleted more in the last 6 months than in the 14 years or so I've been here. I've never forgotten my first deletion, it was for telling a hunt saboteur what I thought of them for their plan to jump out in front of a horse to frighten it.

Maybe the silence is because it is so awful no one wants to start a thread on it for fear of seeming ghoulish. Bet I bet if the rapists had been of a different type, shall we say, someone would have overcome their squeamishness.

@Countrygirl99 I keep thinking about your FIL, carrying that trauma in secret his whole life. It is so sad.

This is as they say ‘a bit of a stretch’. This horrible case is hopefully unique.

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

DS and I were at Auschwitz recently. I've been before and I think it's really important people see it. You can't understand how people can do this to other people - and it had a real effect on me. The more you read about how society changed, how it became hard to resist the Nazis, the fear people had, the way people and society turned on others, and how people became demonised, became seen as other and as "sub human", there are so many lessons

I do wonder what politicians and people in power think when / if they visit there.

I am so very sorry, such wickedness & cruelty inflicted I cannot begin to imagine how awful it must have been.

Thanks everyone. DH and I are the only ones in the family who know. He broke down and disclosed to DH when he didn't know what to do about wearing a mask. FIL died over 2 years ago but DH still struggles to think about it.

Police are investigating white paedophile gangs the same as they always have. There have been numerous prosecutions over the years. The uproar over Rotherham was because it spanned 16 years or more and had tried to be covered up because of the ethnicity of the perpetrators.

There hasn't been a cover up in Scotland.

I read the link and it is a horrific case and makes for very difficult reading.

Thankfully there was no cover up In this case. But there have been cover ups of CSA by white people, as we all know.

If I were in a white paedophile grooming gang right now, I'd feel emboldened. Sad, but there it is.
