Those poor parents, my heart breaks for them can’t even imagine what they must be going through
Ghouls very apt description.

I just read a little of the reporting in the Guardian. I had to stop.

How the families of the three girls and everyone who experienced such horror are coping is beyond me.

Anyone who weaponises this to bash Labour or Muslims or to float conspiracy theories is vile.

bombastix · 23/01/2025 14:22

And he is ill again. They should just remove him and stop this farce where he is indulged.

Efacsen · 23/01/2025 14:24

He was briefly back in court again but almost immediately started screaming that he was ill - so promptly removed again

His counsel had just confirmed that was not unwell

bombastix · 23/01/2025 14:28

Well. I wonder what his psychiatric assessment will say. He is not insane. But is sadistic and manipulative, I think.

DuncinToffee · 23/01/2025 14:29

I am glad it never went to trial

Just sentence him and stop the circus.

How bloody awful for the families.

bombastix · 23/01/2025 14:36

There are so many questions. I don't mean a conspiracy. But he is overtly manipulative and was discussing violence for years.

And there is a strange inference. How did he get referred to Prevent? Based on his internet searches. Who was looking at those to do that? Or did he discuss them?

DuncinToffee · 23/01/2025 14:41

He made phone calls to Childline which led to the first referrals

He was referred to Prevent by an "education provider" at least once. Could he perhaps have been trying to do Internet searches at school that were flagged up by some kind of system?

bombastix · 23/01/2025 14:44

Yes but the second set are not discussed.

What the police found in the house was disturbing. The situation with his family seems very odd. How did he keep a machete, arrows and other weapons in his room? He seems to have had a lot of autonomy.

He actually did that in IT class

I suppose we will never know.

I hope he gets at least 40 years and his name is forgotten. He strikes me as aiming for some kind of notoriety

PandoraSox · 23/01/2025 14:54

I read the following on the Guardian website:

In December 2019, he took a hockey stick to school, which he used to attack another pupil.

In 2021, Rudakubana was diagnosed as autistic and in the same year was referred to Prevent three times for researching school shootings and the London Bridge terror attack.

In 2022, he was reported missing and was found by police with a small kitchen knife. He said he wanted to stab someone “so that he would get into trouble and his Tik Tok account, which contained embarrassing videos that he was unable to delete, would be closed down by the police”.

Apparently Abedi the co-conspirator/ brother of the Manchester Arena bomber was given a 55 year sentence - he was also too young for a whole life sentence [age was subsequently dropped from 21 yrs to 18 yrs]

DuncinToffee · 23/01/2025 14:58

I am just reading the victims statememts, no words

PandoraSox · 23/01/2025 14:58

The Guardian are reporting on the victim's statements now. One 14 year old girl gave one. How bloody courageous of her.

PandoraSox · 23/01/2025 14:59

Cross post, Duncin. Heartbreaking.

bombastix · 23/01/2025 15:05

I have mixed feelings on all these statements and televising sentencing hearings. I do think they give offenders like this a day to enjoy and drink in their depravity which they tend to like ime.

You can't underestimate how much people like this guy enjoy the attention. His name should be forgotten and those children remembered.

DuncinToffee · 23/01/2025 15:06

It's probably a good thing that he was removed

Ghouls is exactly the right word for them. I am not going near any threads about it today.

I've just read one. It's disgusting.

Efacsen · 23/01/2025 15:55

And it's the reason why @bombastix some of the families have withheld all or part of their victim statements - the judge says he has read them all in full

Starmer showed what he was like as Loto, not sure why people expected a different version to appear.

I do think he is growing into his PM role.

I agree.

I don't always agree with him but I think he's calm, clear, communicates well despite his comms team being crap!, sticks to his guns and doesn't come out with outlandish things when the media or SM posts things - especially misinformation - he waits, holds a presser, explains what he's doing well and moves on.

I think that real issue many have is Farage is a great communicator whether we like it or not - and Starmer is as good. So all those real RW from the Tory's are actually worried.

I think the Tory's could be onto a winner if they move back to their small c status. I think it's where the electorate is generally lying.

bombastix · 23/01/2025 15:58

I worked in criminal justice and sentencing for a long time. I think it is better overall to have a judge consider the impact in private. But the law permits the reading in open court.

DuncinToffee · 23/01/2025 16:03

Harrowing statements. It is the victims choice though to have them read out isn't it?

Prosecution has now turned to the sentencing part

The defendant will not re-enter the court room for sentencing
