What do you have with those filled fresh pasta

You know the things I mean, they're in the fresh section and they come in an array of flavours. I always see them but don't really know how I'd serve it. Please give me your ideas. Today I saw goats cheese and carmalised onion ones in Tesco.... but no idea what to serve with it.

I just have butter some herbs and salt or a basic tomato sauce if that goes, and then some salad on the side

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 06/01/2025 17:49

I like it with just melted butter. You don’t need to add anything complicated.

chocoshopoholic · 06/01/2025 17:49

I usually just do a quick sauce, for goats cheese and onion filling, probably a quick tomato and onion based sauce.

Oh that's a thought, I wouldn't have been thinking of a salad but that would be great actually 😋

DD and I like that one, just have with a light tomato sauce and maybe some toasted ciabatta.

Falafelolive · 06/01/2025 17:51

Knob of butter and some parmesan on top, maybe some pine nuts, serve on a bed of wilted spinach or baby spinach salad leaves.

Either pesto or a pasta sauce, then salad and/or garlic bread if you want to fill it out

It has been known in this house to eat it just plain with grated cheese or cream cheese if we're being really lazy and need to feed people in 5 minutes.

TheMousePipes · 06/01/2025 17:51

Drizzle with olive oil, a few turns of black pepper, a handful of rocket on top. Parmesan if you fancy it.

SheherazadesSeasonalNonsense · 06/01/2025 17:52

If you are feeling flash, just put some cream on them! You will definitely want a salad

Inlimboin50s · 06/01/2025 17:52

I sometimes chop mushrooms up,fry with garlic and put on top with some grated parmesan. Other cover in butter with grated cheddar.

Arlanymor · 06/01/2025 17:53

Pea shoots, toasted sour dough and a light tomato sauce (unless I am being a pig then I lace it with melted mascarpone!)

Caspianberg · 06/01/2025 17:53

Red pesto, or just butter, Parmesan and herbs. Side salad. I will often add things like mushrooms or spinach depending on filling

tillyandmilly · 06/01/2025 17:53

We just have leaves spinach etc with ours - no need for any toppings as they are filled with tasty ingredients!

Latenightreader · 06/01/2025 17:54

We are having some tonight! I'm cooking an onion and tomato sauce, and have just thrown some frozen peas into the saucepan with the pasta. I sometimes have them with pesto, and sometimes just plain with green veg.

Tinselinthewhoopsiebasket · 06/01/2025 17:55

Usually make cauliflower cheese to go with..

maudelovesharold · 06/01/2025 17:56

Tortellini/ravioli etc. I usually serve with a tomato/mascarpone sauce, maybe some extra cooked veg stirred in e.g.chopped asparagus or mushrooms, and garlic bread. Quick and very tasty!

SallyWD · 06/01/2025 17:56

I have it with good quality fresh pesto, or I make a tomatoes sauce with veg in like courgettes, peppers and mushrooms, then grate parmesanon the top. Sometimes I'll do something protein rich on the side as I feel more satisfied if I have protein, so I might do some salmon on the side. I always have a salad too.

Anotheremmaagain · 06/01/2025 17:57

Usually either tomato and mascarpone sauce or tomato and chilli sauce. Garlic bread.

Sometimes we break up a mozzarella ball on top.

Doggymummar · 06/01/2025 17:57

They often gave the tubs of ready made sauce by the side of them

BeBesideTheSea · 06/01/2025 17:57

Depending on the filling tomato sauce (sometime just a spoonful of tomato purée with a bit of the pasta water), pesto, olive oil. Sprinkle of cheese on top (usual cheddar as don’t often have Parmesan). Salad. If super hungry (or trying to stretch the pack to 3 people) garlic bread on the side. They often have a long use by date so are great to keep in the fridge for a quick dinner.

TooManyNiblings · 06/01/2025 17:58

We tend to just throw some frozen peas in when heating a potted sauce that comes in a 2 for £x offer. I don't buy it when it's not on offer!!

LouisvilleSlugger · 06/01/2025 17:58

A brown butter and some rocket on the side.

MsPug · 06/01/2025 17:59

The mushroom one is great with cut up sausages and grated cheese

fixingmylife · 06/01/2025 18:00

I sometimes fry some chilli and spring onions in butter and just add that.
