What do you have with those filled fresh pasta

You know the things I mean, they're in the fresh section and they come in an array of flavours. I always see them but don't really know how I'd serve it. Please give me your ideas. Today I saw goats cheese and carmalised onion ones in Tesco.... but no idea what to serve with it.

I either just dump some passata over it or make a quick bechamel with a bit of nutmeg.

Optigan · 06/01/2025 18:30

Just having some now 😄 Tomato and herb sauce and some cheese grated on the top.

CharlotteCChapel · 06/01/2025 18:31

We usually do a tomato based sauce to up the veg content.

AddictedToBooks · 06/01/2025 18:32

I tend to do it with some sliced smoked sausage and salad.

TomatoSandwiches · 06/01/2025 18:32

Like everyone else has mentioned and I like to put them in homemade soup as well.

Gowlett · 06/01/2025 18:34

I’d throw peppers, onions, some tinned tomatoes together.
Do them in the pan with olive oil, herbs. Grate Parmesan.

Soontobe60 · 06/01/2025 18:35

I make a delicious creamy sauce to go with either stuffed pasta or gnocchi using leeks, spinach, petit pois, garlic, cream and Gorgonzola. Luscious!

Gliblet · 06/01/2025 18:24

I just drop a few small knobs of butter onto the cooked pasta, leave it a minute, then gently stir.

Thank you, I will try it!

TotallyTwisted · 06/01/2025 18:36

I usually stir through some pesto, spinach and chopped up cherry tomatoes.

WonderingWanda · 06/01/2025 18:36

Tossed in butter or pesto. Served with salad or roasted veg. If I'm feeling greedy some garlic bread.

What would a “light” tomato sauce be? Several pp have referred to it.

what would make a tomato sauce heavy? I always do the same!

gerbo · 06/01/2025 18:39

They are delicious with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and salad or veg. The Rama ones are moist enough, don't need sauce.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 06/01/2025 18:39

Dh quite likes some of the flavoured salad dressings with pasta. Ds likes a tomato sauce and mozzarella as a bake

murasaki · 06/01/2025 18:40

I melt the butter in a pan with the other assorted stuff then pour it over.

Quitelikeit · 06/01/2025 18:40

Great if dieting! Half a portion with some black pepper and a dash of Parmesan

although I love the idea of butter too!

SleeplikeababyTonight · 06/01/2025 18:41

We get spinach and ricotta filled tortellini/ravioli mostly, and eat with homemade tomato pasta sauce, sometimes a mascarpone tomato, just small amount stirred through, grating of parmesan. We do like a light sauce, as opposed to none. It is also a way of getting more vegetables into dcs, so win win!
If we have left over bolognese, or anything similar the dcs will have a little of that with them. Sometime DH, and I will have one of the posher butternut squash etc filled types.

Oh yes, we do the bake sometimes too. It works great, my dcs love that.

Parker231 · 06/01/2025 18:42

A jar of tomato and basil sauce

murasaki · 06/01/2025 18:44

We like the Rana brand, although the Co op do a nice slow cooked beef one. It's an easy dinner for when I can't be arsed.

Chewbecca · 06/01/2025 18:44

We are just in the oil / butter & parmesan camp but I am going to be more adventurous next time, some spinach, maybe some spring onions & garlic too.

Noone else has mentioned the portion sizes though, is it just me that finds them completely insufficient 🤣

A few large plum tomatoes, skinned and grated into a pan with a splash of olive oil, heated until reduced by half, salt, pepper to taste perhaps some Basil.

Or a tin of mutti crushed tomatoes simmered with some olive oil and seasoned to your liking.

Heavy sauce is with concentrated tomato paste, cooked off with many more tomatoes, red wine and reduced more so.

murasaki · 06/01/2025 18:45

Heh, we find a pack is more than enough for two of us.

RaininSummer · 06/01/2025 18:45

Sauce , Parmesan and broccoli or asparagus or salad.

murasaki · 06/01/2025 18:45

I feel you need a light sauce so as not to drown the filling flavour.

Hammy19 · 06/01/2025 18:47

Salad, roast Mediterranean veg, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, creamed spinach, depends which one(s) I fancy at the time
