What do you have with those filled fresh pasta

You know the things I mean, they're in the fresh section and they come in an array of flavours. I always see them but don't really know how I'd serve it. Please give me your ideas. Today I saw goats cheese and carmalised onion ones in Tesco.... but no idea what to serve with it.

I have the mushroom one with rocket, parsley and butter/olive oil.

We are just in the oil / butter & parmesan camp but I am going to be more adventurous next time, some spinach, maybe some spring onions & garlic too.

Noone else has mentioned the portion sizes though, is it just me that finds them completely insufficient 🤣

I agree! One packet is really not enough for two adults. I also make or use a tomatoey sauce with parmesan but cook extra pasta before I add the stuffed ones.

Waffle19 · 06/01/2025 20:35

Can’t believe one PP shares one pack between three!

Surely not... if it was ravioli that's about 3 or 4 pieces each!

Simonjt · 06/01/2025 20:36

Spinach, chilli, garlic and a poached egg

Lionred · 06/01/2025 20:45

sauce made of Greek yoghurt, garlic, salt, pepper and water. Drizzled with a mix of butter, mint and chilli flakes

Pixie2015 · 06/01/2025 20:46

Drizzle of good balsamic and parmesan perfect 5 minute meal

We like the tortellini stuffed with ricotta and spinach. We have them now and then, just with one of the tomato sauces - spicy or with e.g. basil - that come in tubs. A super-quick and easy dinner.

That's the one we like and have either the tomato and basil or marscapone tub

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 06/01/2025 20:57

Olive
Oil and Parmesan

Snowpaw · 06/01/2025 20:59

I am more and more dissapointed with those pastas these days...had what sounded like a really nice mushroom filled one and it basically only tasted of ricotta. Barely a hint of mushroom. I should have cooked a load of mushrooms to go on top and then maybe I'd have enjoyed it!

OliveHenry · 06/01/2025 21:03

I find that the tubs of fresh sauces that are placed near the stuffed pasta are always a bit too much liquid, so I keep a stash of Aldi/Lidl stir through sauces - tomato and olive is my current favourite.

Cook the pasta, drain, add sauce, stir, lid back on for a minute or so. Top with grated cheese.

That was me! A 300g pack does 3 adults in this house, but we do have a substantial sauce with it to bulk it up, plus salad.

I agree three adults can eat a pack with loads of veg / ham etc in a sauce, cheese on top and salad. Its a good cheap meal. I used to get three meals out of it in my uni days!

BertieBotts · 06/01/2025 21:11

DC just eat them plain Grin I will often throw some green veg into the saucepan with them like brocolli cut into tiny pieces or asparagus and then stir through some tomato pasta sauce.

EndorsingPRActice · 06/01/2025 21:16

Agree with all the above, there is also a recipe called pasta soup that the DC both really like on bbc good food, which makes a healthier meal if you don’t want oil / butter / pesto

BunnyLake · 06/01/2025 21:21

I slightly cook them then put them in a baking dish with passata, herbs, mozzarella and grated cheese. Then stick in the oven for about 10 or so minutes.

SiobhanSharpe · 06/01/2025 21:31

Just with butter, garlic, parmesan and black pepper. Had it this very evening, followed by homemade peperonata. (Sautéed sliced red peppers, onions and tomatoes, cooked slowly in olive oil until soft.)

Sandandsea123 · 06/01/2025 21:37

I roast a load of baby tomatoes, chilli, onion and peppers with a chunk of feta, then stir in the cooked pasta. It’s really easy and so tasty.

DownThePubWithStevieNicks · 06/01/2025 22:09

The fancier ones are in smaller pack sizes. I can manage one of these myself (with evoo, pepper, Parmesan) post-gym!

The more basic ones in the bigger packs - sometimes not quite enough between two even with veg sauce so will usually do a handful of macaroni or similar to supplement. That’s a hungry day though, and would never have bread as well.

DownThePubWithStevieNicks · 06/01/2025 22:11

I’ll tell you what’s even better than supermarket filled pasta though - supermarket filled gnocchi. I have this the same way - evoo, black pepper, Parmesan.

murasaki · 06/01/2025 22:41

Filled.gnocchi, you say? Please do say where from....

Waffle19 · 06/01/2025 22:53

Filled gnocchi is great! Though Tesco seem to have stopped doing the tomato and mozzarella one which I loved. @murasaki search for the brand Rana, though I imagine others do it too. Lidl often have some great big filled gnocchi in their fresh specials.

murasaki · 06/01/2025 22:55

Thanks, I've had and like the Rana tortellini, but never thought to look for gnocchi. Will investigate!

DownThePubWithStevieNicks · 06/01/2025 22:56

Lidl filled gnocchi is great when they have it in. Aldi often have vac packs on shelves or middle aisle. Haven’t tried the branded ones, e.g. Rana. Think maybe Waitrose do some?

KnittedCardi · 06/01/2025 23:00

Cream, or just olive oil and black pepper. I sometimes add some wilted garlicky spinach.

The best way is "in brodo". So in a chicken or vegetable stock/broth, with lashings of parmesan. The meals of my youth. No bread or salad. Just as it is. Cures all ills.
