What do you have with those filled fresh pasta

You know the things I mean, they're in the fresh section and they come in an array of flavours. I always see them but don't really know how I'd serve it. Please give me your ideas. Today I saw goats cheese and carmalised onion ones in Tesco.... but no idea what to serve with it.

We are just in the oil / butter & parmesan camp but I am going to be more adventurous next time, some spinach, maybe some spring onions & garlic too.

Noone else has mentioned the portion sizes though, is it just me that finds them completely insufficient 🤣

Agree there not big enough for 2 but to big for 1 the portion size is way off

Georgyporky · 06/01/2025 18:54

Put them in a thin HM soup to make a quick lunch.

MMXXV · 06/01/2025 18:57

A sauce and salad, or roasted peppers, aubergines, courgettes mushrooms, tomatoes and onions. My partner and kids like some garlic bread with it sometimes too.

mewkins · 06/01/2025 18:59

A tomato or pesto sauce and some green veg on the side.

HappyFitnessQueen · 06/01/2025 19:01

Pack size definitely isn't big enough! I get the finest Nduja raviolis from Tesco and make a quick chicken arrabiata sauce with peppers and onions as a hearty topping! Ups the protein and veg level. Really filling and no need for garlic bread unless it's a Friday night or the weekend!

RanchRat · 06/01/2025 19:06

Serve with butter and veggie bacon lardons.

LifesTooShortForYourNonsense · 06/01/2025 19:14

Whole load of pan fried med veg - peppers courgettes, baby sweet corn, tomato based sauce.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 06/01/2025 19:28

Pesto or plain tomato sauce. Garlic bread and a bit of salad.

I don't like the sound of the goats cheese though.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 06/01/2025 19:31

Agree with PPs about portion size - it was great when DS was at home as two packs did 3 nicely. Now we either have too much or too little.

teentantrums · 06/01/2025 19:42

I am in Italy and we normally have one of the following:

  • butter and sage
  • tomato sauce
  • blended fresh tomatoes and garlic (in the summer)
  • rocket and olive oil
  • walnut sauce
Something quite light as you dont want to overpower the filling.

They’re the sort of thing I eat raw when I can’t even be bothered to cook for myself (guilty pleasure).
But since tortellini are often served with chicken broth I regularly make a chicken meatloaf pot roast midweek, strain the broth and serve that first with Rana tortellini, then sliced roast with green beans and the strained bits as gravy.

if they’re unusual flavours, just oil and Parmesan.
Ravioli with a dollop of rich meat ragout.

Theimpossiblegirl · 06/01/2025 19:50

Pesto (red if we have it in), black olives and cheese. It's a handy mid week meal as it takes minutes.

OneWildNightWithJBJ · 06/01/2025 19:53

If it’s for lunch, then just some rocket and cherry tomatoes, with a drizzle of French dressing. For dinner, it’d be a bigger salad and maybe some sort of meat.

fruitpastille · 06/01/2025 19:56

We had some tonight. I fried some chopped garlic in olive oil and added quite a lot of spinach, a good dollop of cream cheese and creme fraice and a tsp of pesto. Plus a bit of the pasta water to loosen it. Toasted pine nuts and a bit of parmesan on top.

The number of people and the number of packs determines what we have with it. Usually we have 3 people, 1 pack, and with just butter or oil it's not quite enough food, so we add a tomato sauce of some kind, maybe with carrots or other veg. If we're hungrier we might add some chickpeas or other pulses. Alternatively, I do a light bechamel sauce, maybe with some spinach in. If we have 2 people per pack, then just butter or oil is enough food.

Always salad on the side.

NordicwithTeen · 06/01/2025 20:05

Pesto (we have an artichoke one that's lovely), a simple tomato and garlic sauce with parmesan on top, butter with garlic and parmesan, bolognese if I have batch cooked or a parsley and garlic oil, again with parmesan!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 06/01/2025 20:09

We like the tortellini stuffed with ricotta and spinach. We have them now and then, just with one of the tomato sauces - spicy or with e.g. basil - that come in tubs. A super-quick and easy dinner.

CouchSpud · 06/01/2025 20:14

This is our cheap and quick meal before clubs, so literally just grated cheddar on top.

Can’t believe how fancy people go with them!

Chipsahoy · 06/01/2025 20:16

I make mine a bit like a pasta bake. I simmer it first then throw on a sauce, add in cooked chopped veges or just some spinach and then bake in the oven with fresh Parmesan or mozzarella

NeverDropYourMooncup · 06/01/2025 20:19

Stupidly expensive olive oil, sea salt flakes and dump them on top of a bowl of lettuce/leaves, halved cherry tomatoes, chopped cucumber and, depending upon the filling, things like black olives, beetroot or something similar.

TossieFleacake · 06/01/2025 20:22

Butter and asparagus

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 06/01/2025 20:25

We dress in olive oil or butter - the best ones need no sauce, alongside green salad, bread we dip in a mix of olive oil/ balsalmic

BlueFlint · 06/01/2025 20:28

I used to have them with some sort of sauce (likely tomato or pesto), roasted veg or salad. But absolute game changer - recently started having them in a home-made brothy, Italian style tomato and bean soup. Just chuck them in at the end of cooking with the lid on to boil/steam for a few minutes. Fantastic.

Comedycook · 06/01/2025 20:30

If it's just me I have them with butter and parmesan.

If DH too, I make a tomato sauce, mix together, lay in a dish with Parma ham and mozzarella and bake

Waffle19 · 06/01/2025 20:32

Butter, black pepper and Parmesan. Don’t need anything other than salad with it as I eat the whole pack rather than half usually!
