I’ve had an Ocado delivery this afternoon, 6 substitutions and 14 missing items, not a great start Xmas Hmm

My DB is delivering for a Ocado and he says there's very few substitutions, though it might vary by depot I suppose.

LondonPapa · 20/12/2024 22:11

Only order champagne online in the discounted offer plus Nectar pricing plus Nectar bonus offer - all arrived safe and sound. Helps it was top end rather than bargain basement to start with I suppose.

YorkieTheRabbit · 20/12/2024 22:13

@Growlybear83 Ocado have been hit and miss for the last few months. The substitutions today were fine but 14 missing items are a bit of a pain.
I’ve a Morrison’s shop due Sunday, so I’ll see how that goes and the butcher will deliver tomorrow, they are always reliable.

Maybe it depends on the depot your food is coming from. I have at least one delivery from them every week and never have a problem.

MarigoldSpider · 20/12/2024 22:18

I am cross with Ocado. We’re still in the trail period of the smart pass and I didn’t realise we’d have to pay for delivery between the 20th and 24th. I think we’ll just have to go to a shop instead.

I don’t need a Christmas shop as we are away just usual bits.

Yes, fortunately I found out quite early on as I was on a thread about Ocado when the slots came out and free delivery codes were mentioned, I hadn't had one so I checked and saw I wouldn't get one so booked Waitrose as I wasn't going to pay, I think £9.99 for delivery

Catsinaflat · 20/12/2024 22:27

Only one sub for me - instead of Amarena Cherries in syrup I got Sweet Freedom Caramel syrup. Not going to work in a Black Forest trifle Angry

RockyRoadster · 20/12/2024 22:29

Ocado shop delivered this evening with no substitutions or missing items.

Madcats · 21/12/2024 08:38

By fluke, rather than good planning, we had our regular Ocado order arrive on Thursday and the Xmas one scheduled for Monday am. I organised the Xmas one as soon as they were released as our physical supermarkets get ridiculously busy.

We now have lots of what we need for Xmas (including cherries). What we don't get I can probably source from the local Coop or Tesco convenience store.

Ocado rarely send me subs (they've recently switched us from Andover to somewhere near Bristol). I've been editing my Xmas order for most of the week; at one stage I was offered 3 different M&S turkeys in the Flash Sale (50% off).

Doggymummar · 21/12/2024 10:58

I saw the turkeys too, we don't like it so are having everything but. I have loads of 50pc off gift sets in the basket so should be covered for Gifts for quite some time. I like that Ocado set the food aside for you ( on the computer not in bags already). All the other supermarkets round here (small town) actually pick from the shop rather than a warehouse and you end up with loads of missing items or substitutions. I tried to add an extra jar of coffee last night before the cut off and they said all of this item has been allocated for your slot. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

Inextremis · 21/12/2024 15:20

Ginkypig · 20/12/2024 21:04

How did you get that?

We didn't do anything! Tesco (IE, anyway) give us a gift box every few months with promotional items in it. Maybe they give them to all online shopping customers? I have no idea!

BlackChunkyBoots · 21/12/2024 15:30

I'm going away for Christmas & not cooking, so only had bits for my return like bread for the freezer. Unfortunately Sainsbury's delivered cat litter that had a big hole in the bottom so had to send that back but otherwise, all good!

NewNameNoelle · 21/12/2024 15:32

Waitrose for us, all there with no substitutions. Cancelled my Ocado order to glad Waitrose has worked out

Oblomov24 · 21/12/2024 15:47

All good, all done. A few Amazon and eBay deliveries. Food shopped at Sainsbury and Aldi. All done.

DilemmaDelilah · 21/12/2024 17:24

Sainsbury delivery yesterday. I got EVERYTHING on my list - just a substitution of one type of onion for another and a different kind of cat food, both acceptable. I was expecting lots of things to be missing so I have another order booked with Morrison's for Monday morning which had exactly the same things on it. Obviously very nearly everything has now been taken off that order, but there are a couple of things I had forgotten to put on (eggs and garlic) and some things which would be better fresher, so we're still getting that order.

Onemorepenny · 21/12/2024 18:16

15+ products missing from ocado order due in the next few hours. So annoying and some real basic stuff too like vegetables!

May now just traipse to sainsbury and do the final bits there though I was hoping to swerve it this year....

BigYellowDucky · 21/12/2024 18:23

Tesco did well for me on Friday - 115 items and only 1 sub, which was cupcake cases! All fresh stuff had a good date on it too, I was very impressed.

Crunchymum · 21/12/2024 19:22

Sainsburys today. One substitution I didn't keep (fishfingers. DC1 only eats one brand) and one we did keep (baby wipes)

One short life product - strawberries - but that's fine.

Although like a PP I have another order coming next week - on Xmas Eve - and that's when all the Christmas dinner stuff is coming. Today wasn't really a festive shop (I've got loads of bits in already as I shopped for all the treat stuff last week)

I'm getting the turkey, stuffing, pigs in blankets on Monday so it's just the veg, pork, dessert and potatoes coming on Tuesday. I'll know first thing if anything is missing so I can run out early so it's not a massive deal. Oh and our family dinner is on Boxing day as we're out for Christmas dinner proper.

Decafflatteplease · 21/12/2024 19:28

Our ocado Christmas slot came today, only one sub (nuts) and it was fine.

We already had quite a few things in the pantry and freezer though from the past few weeks to spread the cost so we weren't really relying on everything being in the order.

Meat hamper being picked up from butchers on Monday

Willowback · 21/12/2024 21:22

Tesco order 7 subs 6 unavailable, we have no ham, no cheese, no gravy and no mixed berry wreath that ive been looking forward to since i ordered in November. Cream that lasts till 24th and a tiny turkey and beef joint that will no where near feed 20 that they are supposed too. Guess who's going shopping tomorrow!

Doggymummar · 21/12/2024 21:23

Oh no that sounds like 2019 Christmas here. Be brave. Mines 5.30-6.30 tomorrow morning or thereabouts

Doggymummar · 21/12/2024 22:48

Just seen mine is picked and packed and on its way.! No missing items. Yeehaw

cromwell44 · 21/12/2024 22:57

Ocado arrived on time with a couple of missing items, nothing major or vital. The driver was so cheery and polite, as always.

MuchTheSameThanks · 21/12/2024 23:12

Does anyone tip their delivery driver at Christmas.? I have done in the past but last year, when I tried, he said he wasn't allowed to accept a tip. I said it was just a christmas card in the envelope so he took it but I had put a tenner inside.

BeachHutsAndDeckchairs · 21/12/2024 23:46

We haven't bothered and went into the shop last night instead. Got everything we needed.
