For me, it’s to leave the washing machine slightly ajar when you’ve finished using it. Game changing - never smells now!

gingerbreadd · 17/12/2024 11:25

You should leave the washing machine drawer open too.

Mine was actually someone’s reply from the last time this thread was posted: hot spoon on mosquito bites. I’d never heard of that before, needed to use it a week later and it was an absolute godsend.

To use soap instead of shower gel to stop getting BO. It works! But does dry my skin…

That I'm not alone in not answering my door 😂

the80sweregreat · 17/12/2024 12:26

Not to be so judgemental about people

StormingNorman · 17/12/2024 12:26

There are a lot of stone-hearted women out there who’ll trample over or disregard peoples’ feelings in the name of ‘boundaries’. It’s been quite depressing.

GCAcademic · 17/12/2024 12:27

How to set and maintain my boundaries. I used to have none.

Doggymummar · 17/12/2024 12:27

It had me scrubbing my walls last week FFS. And there's a right way round for panty liners

Sgtmajormummy · 17/12/2024 12:33

Jam gets mould on it from the yeast spores in bread, so use a jam spoon just for that purpose.
Top and tail carrots to make them last longer in the fridge.
Take a multi-plug extension cord on holiday plus one converter.
My winter shoes and DDog’s coat.

That there is a vast army of wonderful, warm, witty and caring women out there and how lucky we all are to have each other.

That I have autism, my kids have autism, my husband has autism and my cats have autism.

(None of us are autistic.)

To identify the symptoms of Balanitis in my distressed toddler on holiday somewhere on a Friday night, with no GP surgery open till Monday. For which eternal thanks.

It’s also taught me how many appalling, inegalitarian relationships there are, and how misanthropic a significant proportion of Mners are.

HansHolbein · 17/12/2024 12:37

Putting the washing on a spin after the main wash. Clothes dry very quickly now.

-We bought a derelict property, and someone on here told me about an empty homes scheme. We saved ££££.
-I'm not the only one who has had a TFMR
-There are other woman who have had multiple MC's and like me, will never have my own children

Workingclasslass · 17/12/2024 12:38

Is that many women be very judgemental of other people whether it’s about their lives? How they look what they have? What presents they buy what presents they don’t buy?
whether they send their kids to private school, whether they are working class middle class, et cetera
if they put a post up some people are just very rude and judgemental for no apparent reason that’s what I’ve learnt and I’ve always thought that about other women that some people can be really catty

Riapia · 17/12/2024 12:44

Women can be really very kind to each other.
Except on AIBU.

Dove soap? I also use cocoa butter after a shower. Tesco own brand is much cheaper than the branded stuff and works fine

That the 11+ still exists.

WhatWouldHopperDo · 17/12/2024 12:52

When people show you who they are - believe them

This has helped me so much in managing some family relationships that had made me unhappy for may years.

Aussiegold · 17/12/2024 12:52

Instead of ramming all utensils into 1 jar, get a second jar.

Toast tongs are fantastic and not frou frou.

Children have to be walked to and from school and not allowed to walk on their own (don't remember ever being walked to school).

Couldn't remember the hot spoon on an insect bite trick and spent last week pressing an ice cube onto a stupid bite last week.

indigoemerald · 17/12/2024 12:53

That Sainsbury’s spice jars are wide enough to fit a measuring spoon in! I’d been buying the narrow jars of spices at Aldi for years, so this was a game changer for me

No apparently Dove is like shower gel in a bar format, so it gives stinky pits still. Something about leaving a layer of it on your skin in the same way shower gel would thus rendering deodorant ineffective.

DogInATent · 17/12/2024 13:01

That you can't overestimate the conviction with which people will hold forth with bad advice and worse opinions.
