For me, it’s to leave the washing machine slightly ajar when you’ve finished using it. Game changing - never smells now!

That on balance I got off lightly with my MIL 😂

Virtually everyone's kids are neurodivergent.
Apparently.

Apart from the OPs of other threads whose kids are all Mensa candidates.
Apparently.

That Sainsbury’s spice jars are wide enough to fit a measuring spoon in! I’d been buying the narrow jars of spices at Aldi for years, so this was a game changer for me

Ooh, that's helpful. 😊

My entire laundry system, based on a great post by some brilliant person who used to work for Unilever or some such.

Ooooh, like what?

GameofPhones · 17/12/2024 17:53

That there are lots of clever, witty, well-informed women out there who are generous enough to share their talents and knowledge with other women.

RunAwayTurnAwayRunAwayTurnAway · 17/12/2024 17:56

Main character syndrome.

I always used to feel, and worry, (and sometimes still do a bit), that everyone was constantly looking at me and judging me, negatively.

Then I read about MCS on here and realised that everyone else is their own main character and that I am unlikely to be in their thoughts all of the time as I had feared. Other people’s first thoughts are with themselves, primarily.

user1471538283 · 17/12/2024 17:58

That there are many, far too many women with a DM like mine and we're all battling our way through. It's really helped me.

And the women who supported me and I them when my DGirlcat1 went missing saved me.

Apparently.

And everyone's OH has ADHD or undiagnosed Autism.

Tinkerbellflowers · 17/12/2024 18:01

To take a small hand towel to the swimming pool to stand on when getting dry.

Viviennemary · 17/12/2024 18:02

It's a waste of time using contraceptives. They rarely work.

Flyhigher · 17/12/2024 18:09

Some really kind lovely women on here.
And some really mean ones.
That people are obsessively angry about those that drive in the middle lane.

Parratha · 17/12/2024 16:46

Reader?? please explain. Thanks

@Parratha I only know how to do it on iPhone. At the bottom of the screen is a bar. If you click the little horizontal lines on the left the reader option comes up x

Cattery · 17/12/2024 18:17

There is a square with two lines under it x

Thepossibility · 17/12/2024 18:29

Cocklodger. Ick.
Don't set yourself on fire to keep someone else warm.
No is a complete sentence.
All brilliant.

BrightonFrock · 17/12/2024 18:40

That a surprising number of adults still have a childlike notion of fairness. They genuinely believe everything will work out and everyone will get what they deserve, positive or negative.

FigTreeInEurope · 17/12/2024 18:42

The pain and consequences of cheeting. Some recent threads should be made available in school.

GiantBears · 17/12/2024 19:12

I have learned so much that I can't even begin to list it. I am definitely ASD and didn't know many people except my immediate family. Being on here has been a fully lifetime education in how the world works. My ASD DS is now reading too and learning so much.

Things I have learned specifically:

How to identify shingles.
How to stay calm while reading about people's really worrying medical situations
How to change my username so I don't get picked on.
That I am definitely not the only one with the phobia that I have
That other people also struggle with their MIL
That I'm not the only one with a DM with dementia.
That schools are hard for teachers as well as kids.
That some women seem to be bulletproof and so can raise umpteen kids alone, while I can't go overnight with DS without my DH.
That people can be very poor but very strong (mind and body).
The single mothers on here astonish me constantly with what they can cope with.
That some people with a learning disability write really really articulately.

My DS has learned:
That it make me happy if he brings me a cardigan or warm socks.
That I also like a hot water bottle.
This has really made my life much nicer.

There are so many other things, but I just can't list them all.

I also love when there is something on in the news and MN is a much better source of information than the broadcast media.

Thank you to everybody who has helped me FlowersCakeBrew

To take a small hand towel to the swimming pool to stand on when getting dry.

I like this tip and I'm going back in the new year so will be using it.

muggart · 17/12/2024 19:57

So many women put up with so much crap. I thought I was a people pleaser but even I am gobsmacked by how much women allow themselves to be exploited.

Also, teachers think they are awfully special and generally more deserving than everyone else.

jay55 · 17/12/2024 20:02

That women take their bras off when they get home. I had no idea and it's been delightful. Lockdown being free of the damn things for weeks was amazing.

Patienceinshortsupply · 17/12/2024 20:08

It breaks my heart that so many women are afraid to say "I'm worth better" and tolerate the very worst of human behaviour to be in a relationship and/or for the kids. It's made me hugely appreciate my own husband even if he does test my patience on a daily basis.... he has a deep running respect for me and I am so proud that our daughters have seen bad relationships for what they are early on and walked away. They're all settled in good relationships with good men and for that I say a very big thank you.

@mildlydispeptic was this years and years and years go?

She also posted about the Brits obsession with laundry smells.

It was amazing thread. Although don't remember any tips.

So many people here for @mildlydispeptic‘s laundry system! 😂 (Myself included).
