For me, it’s to leave the washing machine slightly ajar when you’ve finished using it. Game changing - never smells now!

Until I came onto mum's net and read a few threads I did not realise that if you are a single mum you're not supposed to introduce your new boyfriend to your children until you've been seeing him for over a year.

To take a small hand towel to the swimming pool to stand on when getting dry.

I clicked on this thread to write this!

Also, 'righty tighty lefty loosey'

Fuckingfuckssake · 17/12/2024 21:06

To use a hairdryer to get stickers/price tags off items, even works on the TKMAXX red clearance stickers.
Claire's will price match online prices in store, failing that do a click and collect while you stand at the till.

That lots of men are dreadful.

1457bloom · 17/12/2024 21:14

a lot of women only tolerate their DH

iamnotalemon · 17/12/2024 21:21

That being married or having children doesn't seem appealing..

That so many people despise disabled people and are happy to reveal their true feelings in the comfort of anonymity.

toolongiroamedinthenight · 17/12/2024 22:10

@Mittens67 It's always been so, but people are emboldened by anonymity and cheered on by the media's disabled = lazy scrounger trope.

@Parratha I only know how to do it on iPhone. At the bottom of the screen is a bar. If you click the little horizontal lines on the left the reader option comes up x

Oh no. I was so excited. I have a Samsung.

That women take their bras off when they get home. I had no idea and it's been delightful. Lockdown being free of the damn things for weeks was amazing.

Years ago I was on a thread about whether people got changed when they got in from work, and what they wore if they did. I said that I used to when I worked in a smart dress code office, but now that I was in a casual one I didn’t bother, as I was just in jeans and a top anyway.

A couple of the replies I got were completely incredulous, along the lines of “OMG you wear jeans in the house?!?”, as if I’d just admitted I strapped myself into an iron maiden every night. I couldn’t get over it - they’re just jeans! Of course once we hit lockdown I was in joggers all day anyway, but I really didn’t think people saw jeans as some sort of denim prison.

Lillixyng · 18/12/2024 00:59

That one of the best feelings is when you are thanked for a post.

summerinsiam · 18/12/2024 01:12

That many people can't bear reasonably well-known scientific facts being brought to their attention. Then it's all accusations of "scaremongering".

To use soap instead of shower gel to stop getting BO. It works! But does dry my skin…

This is expensive but lasts a long time and doesn't dry the skin.

To put clothes out to dry inside out to protect them from sun damage.

No is a complete sentence. I do try to be polite first, but if they continue pushing me I just say it and smile sweetly. It really works.

Definitely to LTB. I'm so much happier 7 years later.

That when I come on here, I never know if I'll laugh, cry, cry with laughter or be amazed.

I still don't like Avocado's though. Sorry.

Skyrainlight · 18/12/2024 07:24

I use this soap, it's great and doesn't seem to dry the skin as much.

That despite all the illicit messaging, sexting and visiting of porn sites by SO's, there seem to be a surprising number who don't bother using either a PIN or Passcode on their Smartphone/iPhone. I'm surprised by the number of 'Mumsnetters' who are able to just pick up their partners phones and discover the above.

BrightonFrock · 18/12/2024 11:36

I'm surprised by the number of 'Mumsnetters' who are able to just pick up their partners phones and discover the above.

There are even more who can read entire messages when they “just happen” be to walking past their partner’s phone on the table…

I'm searching through my saved threads to try and find the laundry lady! Will report back!

Was it in AMA I developed laundry detergents by any chance?

I think this is very reasonable - I wish it was a general consensus in our society these days to wait about a year to introduce a new partner to a child. Too many people introduce new partners too soon.

mildlydispeptic · 18/12/2024 18:21

@LoudPlumDog ooh, I think that could be the one!
