For me, it’s to leave the washing machine slightly ajar when you’ve finished using it. Game changing - never smells now!

That some women put up with awful men.
That there are lovely, kind and intelligent women who will provide great advice to try help. MN is truly a great resource for those that need help.

Christmasandallthetrimmings · 17/12/2024 15:08

It's made me realise that a lot of men in my life were toxic and I've had poor boundaries my whole life with friends, family, men etc. it's taught me how to say no and not be afraid to say no. That I'm not crazy for not putting up with certain behaviours off others.

Also have learned a lot about my rights in certain situations, laws and resources, and how generally we live in a country where people can't f* you over if you know the right way to respond, push back against certain decisions, advocate for yourself. It's definitely taught me to advocate for myself instead of getting upset at injustices.

ScaredAndHopelessAboutLife · 17/12/2024 15:13

It’s taught me that many women out there will put up with so much sh*t from men! Cheating in all its forms - from sexting other women to affairs, men being drunk and nasty on a regular basis, women staying with such men who cross lines and they just get away with anything. Honestly I just wish women wouldn’t put up with this disgusting behaviour from their partners/husbands, stop letting men treat you like shit and tolerating it!!!!!! I just wish women would LTBs!

"jackets " and crusty bread is acceptable food. There such a thing as children's food. People go to Macdonald's. People shop at Tesco and do big shops. Cleaning is worth discussing. Screen time is a thing. Ai is all in inclusive esp in turkey and not artificial intelligence. People read other people's phone and don't answer the door. People start whole internet forums on mils comments and see things v black and white not nuanced.

That I am very lucky. I might not live in a mansion, or earn a massive salary, or have perfect children or a perfect marriage - but all in all, it's lovely. I have my health as do DH and the DCs, a brilliant and supportive family, a roof over my head, food on the table and a safe job that gives me a decent standard of living. When I see the struggles some women on here go through I realise that I'm very fortunate. I don't mean that in a gloaty way, I genuinely appreciate the luck I have - it's nothing more than luck - and am very aware how quickly that can change.

How to leave the most abusive man in London

How to navigate the criminal court system

What to expect at family court

So many wonderful people on here

The advice was LIFE CHANGING 🙌🙌🙌

livingafulllife · 17/12/2024 15:32

What ive learned from MN is that alot of women can be a bitch behind the screens.
And most of what is type is over the top.
And some dont see they are the problem in the relationship not him.

Going back under my rock now.

StormingNorman · 17/12/2024 12:26

There are a lot of stone-hearted women out there who’ll trample over or disregard peoples’ feelings in the name of ‘boundaries’. It’s been quite depressing.

Similar to this - the main thing I've learned on here is that some people will block others, and/or go "no contact" at the drop of a hat. I don't know if that's representative of real life or not, it's certainly not in my circle. But on here the lack of will to invest effort in friendships and family relationships is pretty depressing.

NewBootsWeather · 17/12/2024 15:36

A lot of women don't like their MIL. I loved mine and miss her.

Iloveyoubut · 17/12/2024 15:40

That as much as there are people who sit there waiting for a new post so they can jump right in and set the tone by attacking the OP and encouraging a pile on… that there are also genuinely amazing people who would get a bloody taxi round to help an OP they don’t know at 3am, and they really would! … and I stay for those people because you’re all amazing!

How to curate my feed by hitting the hide button.

Yirk · 17/12/2024 15:44

That it's OK to just say No and stop being a people pleaser.
What other people think about me is their problem.
That biological females are entitled to their space on this earth and we will fight to keep it.
That family doesn't seem to be important to many anymore.

ooherrmissus14 · 17/12/2024 15:45

I always follow the threads when there is something significant going on in the world as it really helps me to understand what is going on. I particularly like that you get a range of different perspectives which you don't necessarily get from the mainstream media and I can get a more rounded view of what is happening. The Gaza/Israel threads for example

Blackcountryexile · 17/12/2024 15:45

How to wash my hair properly. Thanks for that advice.

rocky5001 · 17/12/2024 15:48

That the majority of women fundamentally misunderstand men, and if they did understand them would probably want nothing to do with them.

What did you think Macdonalds and Tesco buildings were for if you didn't know that people bought things from them?😂

Did you think everyone shopped a day at a time? That can't be true can it?

Bignanna · 17/12/2024 15:49

HansHolbein · 17/12/2024 12:37

Putting the washing on a spin after the main wash. Clothes dry very quickly now.

That’s just common sense!

BalladOfBarry · 17/12/2024 15:50

Lots of the above.
Some people are awful.
Some people are lovely.
And long handled teaspoons and rubber brooms!

EmmaMaria · 17/12/2024 15:52

Insanity and double standards are not as rare as I thought they were.

CurlewKate · 17/12/2024 15:54

@Londoneye20 I know what McDonalds, Tesco and a big shop are-but I have never heard of a "jacket".

My God this with bells on. Wish we could start teaching girls from a young age what a healthy relationship consists of and what is not acceptable and stop pushing little girls to grow up to be people pleasers.

Also, I love "No is a complete sentence"

helpfulperson · 17/12/2024 16:02

That much of the pressure on women comes from other women, especially competitive cleaning.

Badknitter · 17/12/2024 16:02

Even though it is a disability under the Equality Act, it’s absolutely fine for mners to say things like eating too much sugar gives you diabetes, because this is a discussion site its fine, even though comments suggesting other disabilities are caused exclusively by the disabled person would be deleted
