How often do you change your bedsheets?

I change my bedsheets every week, no matter the weather. After a week, they just start to feel dirty, and I can’t stand it. I recently came across a discussion where people in an office shared how often they change theirs, and the answers ranged from every two weeks to as long as 2-3 months! I can’t wrap my head around that—anything beyond two weeks feels unhygienic to me. What about you?

When I can be bothered

Echobelly · 01/12/2024 22:48

About every two weeks as we just have so much laundry to get to and particularly in winter finding space to dry it

FluffBut · 01/12/2024 22:48

Twice a week at least.

Every time I see a MN thread about changing sheets.

fussychica · 01/12/2024 22:50

Never.
I get the staff to do it on a daily basis.

Gabitule · 01/12/2024 22:51

I sleep alone and wear pijamas (and bed socks) so I tend to change my pillow cases every 1-2 weeks and the rest of my bedding every 4 weeks

BibbityBobbityToo · 01/12/2024 22:52

Nice to see an original question appear on MN 😁.

Once a week for me, maybe stretch to 8 days if I'm too busy on Saturday.

LadyHester · 01/12/2024 22:52

@CandleStub How many sets do you have? Or do you take a view and not change them if the next thread comes up before you’ve had a chance to sleep on them?
Bit grim if you ask me.

GroovyChick87 · 01/12/2024 22:55

Twice a week.

Mugler · 01/12/2024 22:56

We only have a bottom sheet, the rest is duvets. We change the bed every week. This is MN through so it’s anyone’s guess how often others change their bedlinen.

MyOneAndOnlyPostForTheChristmasTreeThread · 01/12/2024 22:59

Every Tuesday in general , All 5 beds. if I don't for any reason I'm not too bothered I just do it end of the week , however I will do it again the Tuesday as I feel all out of routine.

hopelessmary · 01/12/2024 22:59

Gonna get slated here but probably every three weeks. I just can't be bothered to do it more and it disrupts the routine of washing everything else because we do about 2/3 loads of laundry a day. DH is a builder and my two DS play football 4 times a week at a club and everyday at school. We do shower every day if that makes us sounds better...

mitogoshigg · 01/12/2024 23:00

Fortnightly ishGrin. Tends to be weekly or fortnightly at most if hot, not so bothered in winter as not sweaty

rainbowsparkle28 · 01/12/2024 23:03

Once per week give or take aside from if visibly dirty but much longer than that and I am itching to get them done as it feels minging - they are not visibly dirty or anything but just feel yuck. And the feeling of getting all snuggled up in fresh clean sheets is the best.

DeniseElizabeth611234 · 01/12/2024 23:04

Once a week. On a Sunday. Always have

BeardofHagrid · 01/12/2024 23:04

About every two weeks, I’d love to do it more often but I can’t justify using the electricity now it’s so expensive :/

yikesanotherbooboo · 01/12/2024 23:08

It depends on drying conditions , ideally weekly but in wet weather it can be fortnightly.

Scamilton · 01/12/2024 23:13

Depends if you're an evening bather (and therefore enter bed fully clean) or a morning showerer (and enter the bed dirty).

And of course some people don't bathe every day to save money and the environment innit.

ACynicalDad · 01/12/2024 23:14

On days ending in y

Freeasabird76 · 01/12/2024 23:18

Fortnightly complete change, more often if been sweating, usually weekly sometimes twice a week in summer.

BeMintBee · 01/12/2024 23:19

Twice a week but only because I have a dog who also sleeps on the bed.

anxioussister · 01/12/2024 23:20

Once a week in winter, twice a week during the warm part of summer when a) my horrible DCs + DH sweat at night and b) washing dries outside in about 5 seconds.

I can’t bare the oversoft, almost greasy feeling that unwashed sheets get after more than a week.

Sheets are a priority job for me though - whereas I will happily go a couple of months between jeans washes, and only ever spot clean my cashmere + wool sweaters! Also the inside of my car is a crime scene.

SnoopySantaPaws · 01/12/2024 23:20

hangxiety · 01/12/2024 22:46

Once a fortnight. People who say they do it more often than that are either full of shit, or have too much time on their hands

Or are just more hygienic & organised.

suki1964 · 01/12/2024 23:20

Surely you have a brand new set daily????

CinnamonJellyBeans · 01/12/2024 23:20

As soon as they need it. I'm not overly fussed about bedsheets, but would never get into bed without a bath/shower first.
