How often do you change your bedsheets?

I change my bedsheets every week, no matter the weather. After a week, they just start to feel dirty, and I can’t stand it. I recently came across a discussion where people in an office shared how often they change theirs, and the answers ranged from every two weeks to as long as 2-3 months! I can’t wrap my head around that—anything beyond two weeks feels unhygienic to me. What about you?

Every Christmas whether they need it or not.

Lallybroch · 01/12/2024 22:36

Once a week and can't stand it if they are on longer than that.

niadainud · 01/12/2024 22:36

Every 45 minutes.

Yes, once a week for me too.

My two adult DDs are just early 20s and live at home and I let them sort their own laundry out. They're happy to leave theirs longer, maybe every two weeks. One DD wears a lot of fake tan and hers are minging when they go in the wash 🤢

Mostly weekly but I don't have a routine for it, just when it feels bluegh and that might stretch to a fortnight.

coffeesaveslives · 01/12/2024 22:40

At least once an hour.

loropianalover · 01/12/2024 22:40

Sunday and Thursday. Sometimes just Sunday.

Moveoverdarlin · 01/12/2024 22:40

Every 2 weeks ish.

Mill3nnial · 01/12/2024 22:41

I aim for weekly but sometimes it's every two weeks

doodleschnoodle · 01/12/2024 22:41

I burn them after every use and put on brand new ones. Can't be too careful.

PinkRetro · 01/12/2024 22:41

Every 2 weeks, sometimes 3

Quite right.

JetskiSkyJumper · 01/12/2024 22:42

I saw that too and instantly thought of mumsnet and the people who think it's disgusting if they aren't changed weekly

WalterdelaMare · 01/12/2024 22:42

Every Saturday and twice a week in summer. I saw that same SM post and simply did not believe it.

Arewethebadguys · 01/12/2024 22:42

Changed mine twice in the time it took to read your post.

skibidimom · 01/12/2024 22:42

Aim for 2 weekly but sometimes it's 3. Had an old flatmate who didn't wash her bedding for about 3 years and was totally unperturbed by it.

Trumpton · 01/12/2024 22:43

Only me in my bed. Bottom sheet and silk pillowcase every week. Complete change every other week.

TulipTuesday · 01/12/2024 22:43

Every 2 weeks. But my sheets are only slept in by me as me and DH sleep separately. If they had stinky man smell on them I’m wash then more often 😄

TheChosenTwo · 01/12/2024 22:43

Every Sunday, just feels like the right time. We both sleep naked so wouldn’t leave it longer than that.
dc mostly do theirs every 2 weeks but they sleep with clothes, eldest is at uni - I hope she’s still doing hers semi regularly 😂 middle one spends about an equal time here and at her boyfriends and the youngest is a teen who showers daily. We’re all pretty clean people!

CointreauVersial · 01/12/2024 22:44

Sheets weekly, duvet fortnightly (just flip it after a week).

So I meet the MN standard for bedlinen, it would seem. Just don't ask me how often I wash my bra.

Bearpawk · 01/12/2024 22:44

Every week. Occasionally every 10 days but I'll stick the top pillow cases in the wash halfway through. It's the scalp oils and sweat that I worry about. We both wear PJs and I shower before bed so I don't feel like our duvet gets that manky

Bearpawk · 01/12/2024 22:46

I also find it interesting that people prioritise washing the fitted sheet over the duvet cover. I'd always prioritise the diver cover as i feel that's more likely to get tea stains/ dribble/ armpit sweat on it

hangxiety · 01/12/2024 22:46

Once a fortnight. People who say they do it more often than that are either full of shit, or have too much time on their hands

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/12/2024 22:46

Every Friday. DP always works from home on a Friday morning, finishes at lunchtime as he does a compacted week, so he does it. I love going into the weekend with fresh bedding.

BadgersGalore · 01/12/2024 22:46

Frequent washing releases microplastics into the environment and wastes energy and water. Instead I open a brand new set of bedding every day and burn the old ones in a metal bin on my front garden.
