What’s a “small” change that hit you harder than it should have?

TheRealBoswell · 15/11/2024 00:04

I’m still gutted about the recipe change for Robinsons Summer Fruits Refreshed. That was one of my absolute favourites, and Ribena Strawberry was right up there too, but I just can’t get into the new versions at all. I also never got over the switch they made to Robinsons Fruit & Barley Summer Fruits. Anyone else have a “small” change like this that just hit a little harder than expected? What have you been gutted about that's really not a big deal to others?

Ringing your GP practice and getting an appointment that day.

BunnyLake · 15/11/2024 07:41

Galaxy used to be my favourite chocolate. I bought a bar recently and it was so sweet, it tasted of just sugar and no chocolate. I’ll never buy it again. Tried a Lindor bar instead and that was much better.

ExpertlyDecorated · 15/11/2024 07:45

BK Spicy beanburgers, I really miss those.

Benefit Lemon-Aid concealer, perfect for under eye redness, never found a good alternative.

I agree about the streetlights, we still have orange ones on the main roads here but changed to white on the side streets years ago, the white ones are too far apart so there are pools of total darkness which isn't great combined with wonky potholey pavements. They are also cold and sinister feeling.

I disagree about the mince packaging though, I think its a big improvement, takes up less space in the fridge and less plastic waste (we couldn't recycle the plastic trays here).

Running shoes tweaking the inside design of trainers with seams on the heel that give blisters!!

I don't know if it's just me, but have you noticed that moths (and other flying critters) no longer flutter around the (orange) bulbs like they used to many years ago?
Might've been before your time... I'm in my 70's.

I’m so sorry to say this but this one is not about the colour. It’s because there are far fewer moths 😞 in fact so many of the changes are to do with changing climate - olive oil, cocoa, coffee - they grow in places being hardest hit by changing weather and climate patterns. What we see first is the companies’ attempts to mitigate using less or tge impact of bad harvests.

Having to pre book everything.

ThatsNotMyTeen · 15/11/2024 07:48

Ready salted chipsticks 🙁
Fox’s echo bars 🙁

3luckystars · 15/11/2024 07:48

Lancôme flash bronzer, it was the happiest most wonderful and beautiful fake tan on earth and every single day I miss it.
I loved it.
It made me so so happy. There was a little shimmer to it, like myself, and the world is just not as nice anymore without it.

Lemon1111 · 15/11/2024 07:48

Rowntrees Fruit Pastilles they were my favourite :(

Daleksatemyshed · 15/11/2024 07:49

@LeticiaMorales with you on this one, now you have to do an e consult in the morning and wait and see.

Ringing your GP practice and getting an appointment that day.

Oh I miss this so much!!

At my practice you now have your submit an online form, wait for someone to get back to you (within 48 hours), carry your phone around like an iron lung because they WILL ONLY RING YOU ONCE.

If you miss the call you have to go through the above rigmarole again until you are lucky enough to answer them.

I was at the surgery the other day collecting a script and needed to make an appointment. I was told to go online and submit a form... I was stood at the window, just make the appointment dammit!!

The GP surgery world has gone mad.

Also, Chipmunk OXO flavour crisps. Such sad times we live in.

Alifemoreordinary123 · 15/11/2024 07:50

@AutumnLeaves24 I’m with you - leading the campaign to change back to the old recipe was one of my proudest achievements 😆

lateatwork · 15/11/2024 07:50

I have to catch 2 buses now to my work. Before there was a single bus.

glittereyelash · 15/11/2024 07:50

I used to love the old fashioned sweet tins at Christmas. Don't even bother buying them anymore. They just look tacky and taste rubbish. Also selection boxes are awful. They've recently changed the recipe for original pringles the taste shocking now so so salty. I'm a huge crisp lover and hate that every bag is practically empty now even the big ones! First world problems I know!

helgel · 15/11/2024 07:50

About 40 years ago they 'improved' Heinz vetable soup. It still upsets me.

You can't believe phobias exist? As if you've got to this age not knowing that.

You learned something new today! Well done!

Nope I don't kill bees as I don't have a phobia of them. Do you understand what a phobia is?

Edited

So because you have a phobia you kill things? Wow!

heard of ethical extraction? Yes, you have also learnt something new today.

LeticiaMorales · 15/11/2024 07:51

"carry your phone around like an iron lung" @MrJollyLivesNextDoor
Too true! Then you think, the moment I go to the loo, they'll ring.
It's awful and just puts more pressure on emergency services.

JaffaCake70 · 15/11/2024 07:51

The discontinuation of Caramac and the horrible, non shiny Quality Street chocolate wrappers.

rewilded · 15/11/2024 07:53

Department stores/furniture stores, especially in the winter.
Debenhams, House if Frazer, BHS, C&A, Beattes, Heales, Habitat and my personal favourite Rackhams so warming on a high street corner. They are mostly gaping holes or B&Ms.

They should be government funded like libraries.

Coco pops...gone to the dogs.

This is by far the worst for me. I have a little rant inside everytime I pass it in the supermarket. Really miss proper cocoa pops

yukikata · 15/11/2024 07:54

The bloody sugar tax meaning that most soft drinks now taste awful.

e.g. Pepsi starting to use aspartame even in the full sugar version!

Coca cola hasn't been changed yet, luckily!

newjobregrets · 15/11/2024 07:54

Yes
Whoever said Spira

ThatsNotMyTeen · 15/11/2024 07:55

Lemon1111 · 15/11/2024 07:48

Rowntrees Fruit Pastilles they were my favourite :(

Yes the box with all the shaped ones and the red one was a real treat. Ditto fruit gums. Smarties in boxes were also good

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 15/11/2024 07:56

I still mourn for Walter's (later Burton's) Potato Puffs.
Why on earth was the best crispy snack ever in history of the universe discontinued?
😭
