What’s a “small” change that hit you harder than it should have?

I’m still gutted about the recipe change for Robinsons Summer Fruits Refreshed. That was one of my absolute favourites, and Ribena Strawberry was right up there too, but I just can’t get into the new versions at all. I also never got over the switch they made to Robinsons Fruit & Barley Summer Fruits. Anyone else have a “small” change like this that just hit a little harder than expected? What have you been gutted about that's really not a big deal to others?

Lucozade - the original one. I hate the stuff but there used to be nothing like it for coming down off a migraine. Since they reduced the sugar content it's now useless.

Quilted toilet paper. Brand after bloody brand is becoming like using sandpaper on my fadge.

I don’t mind paying more for toilet roll as long as it feels nice. I apparently I am in a minority

Ditto kitchen roll. Although I only use that on my worktops

Cauldron sausages (vegetarian) the changed the recipe. Fortunately there was so many complaints, the changed it beck, then a few months later changed them again. Fortunately this time they're edible, but they're no where near as good as the originals. 😪😪😪

This, totally. Sadly we don't even eat the new ones as they taste so different now. Lost my family as customers after years of them being the best veggie sausages! Still not found a good replacement.

The neighbors moving out.

Benefit "Who Does Your Work" lip gloss. Was the perfect shade for my lips and I've never found anything close to it since.

Clinique Dewy Smooth foundation.

Acqua Di Gio - Giorgio Armani. I still have a tiny bit left in a bottle. My favourite perfume for the last 26 years and now it's discontinued.

Ribena (I hate sweeteners).

Laura Geller Tuscan Night eyeliner. Gorgeous deep purple with a little shimmer.

Instant coffee!
For years I drank Blend 37. Suitably bitter, not sickly creamy. Then Nestle discontinued it, a long fallow time, then I found Azera Perky Blenders. Just right for me, I kept a good stock in but now can't find it anywhere. Down to my last tin and won't offer it to anyone else. Where can I go now?

Azera perky blenders is £2.49 in b&m.

We have switched to Richmond meat-free which we like but they still aren’t as good as cauldron originals.

Tesco used to do an own brand Lincolnshire vegetarian sausage and they were great but have been discontinued too!

L’Oreal Miss baby roll mascara 😭😭

I refuse to buy them now. They've taken out my favourite, the malted toffee in the brown foil wrapper. That's ruined them for me.

Hippobot · 15/11/2024 11:51

Anyone remember Totem Pole ice lollies? I think they were strawberry and lemon flavour. Cadbury's Nuts About Caramel. There was also a Cadbury's bar that I believe was called a Maverick - kind of like a Fuse but more nobbly and had fudge pieces in it. Walls also did a sort of ice cream sandwich thing called a Taco (I think) - was delicious.

There used to be a biscuit called Cafe Noir. A bit like a party ring but coffee flavoured icing.

I think of them often.

Found these last year in Lidl

Yes!!!!! I miss them so much 😞

Years ago, Quorn used to do Branston sausages.
The only place l could get them was the Waitrose near work, so every time l went, l'd buy six packs and freeze them. They discontinued them, and l'm still gutted. They were amazing, and nothing has come close since.

They changed the colour of the street lights on my road from orange to white a few years back and I'm honestly still livid about it.
Literally no one else has noticed. My DH didn't notice till i pointed it out
It bothers me so much abd it also bothers me that it bothers me lol
I HATE the white light.
Outraged the council can just change the colour of the night time without asking.

Our street lights go off at midnight which has effectively introduced a curfew as most women won't now walk around at night, it's so dark here.
On the subject of food and drink, Lucozade is now a watery imitation of itself. It was always my drink of choice if I was unwell and was great for pregnancy nausea. I actually wrote to GSK thinking I'd bought a faulty bottle recently. I feel so cheated Sad

OMG - I need to go to Lidl to see if I can find them! 😋

katseyes7 · 15/11/2024 11:53

I'm going back a very long way now but back in the 70s Max Factor did a Comb On Mascara. This stuff was incredible. I'd give anything to be able to get it again, especially now my lashes are now a former shadow of what they were then.

CostelloJones · 15/11/2024 11:54

on the plus side this thread has reminded me of a perfume my mum used to wear, haven’t smelled it in years. Turns out they still do it! Just bought some 🥰

Hippobot · 15/11/2024 11:55

Anyone know what I'm talking about here? When I was a wee girl in the 1980s, my mum used to buy me this kids' perfume that was in a glass bottle shaped like a teddy bear. The bottle was flat on the front and back. Think she ordered it from a catalogue. May have been Swedish or something as she also used to buy bags of hard Swedish cracker bread things.

Hippobot · 15/11/2024 11:55

Sara Lee lemon meringue pie, pecan pie and chocolate gateaux.

Removing Worchester sauce french fries. To be honest that broke my heart and Im still not over it.

They’re back in a multipack. Saw them in Asda today and Christmas came early 😅

Hippobot · 15/11/2024 11:57

Original in bru. The 1901 is good but it's not the same.

Bloatstoat · 15/11/2024 11:57

This is definitely the time of year to mourn chocolates of days gone by - it's a waste of money buying roses and quality street now, and they were such a part of Christmas.

But the thing I miss most is fruit pastilles - the vegan ones are just not the same Sad

Hippobot · 15/11/2024 11:57

Proper seasons.

Frauhubert · 15/11/2024 11:59

Yes, yes, yes! Waitrose essential toilet paper which used to be amazing for the price, quite ‘meaty’, soft and lasted ages is now poundland quality& lasts 3 and a half wipes.
