Celebs where you don’t expect to see them

I did a drivers awareness course today, one of the online courses where the group joins via teams or whatever it is. You only see everyone’s face and first name.
Anyway, there was one participant that after a while of thinking she was familiar, I realised she’s a TV presenter. I’m certain it was her, but if it wasn’t then this woman with the same name shares an uncanny resemblance.

I don’t spot many celebs where I live so it was quite exciting to be sharing a space with one. Even if it was that particular space. She seemed very pleasant.

Ever had any random celeb spots like that?

Just name the name already otherwise thread is pointless.

Yes, at toddler classes! Very odd experience. You forget people from the tv do normal things like that

Saw Bob Mortimer buying toilet rolls in service station just after Christmas a few years back.

BruceAndNosh · 06/11/2024 19:39

One of my sons friends Dad is a fairly famous actor - at parents evening I just about managed to stop my husband going over to ask him where he knew him from!

Hoppinggreen · 06/11/2024 19:49

Saw Andy Serkis in a country pub a few months ago.
I grew up in that area and thought he looked familiar but that he was someone I used to know but then someone went up to him and said they loved his work so I had another think and then realised who he was.
His wife was filming not too far away apparently.
Nobody was bothering him as I don't think most people realised since it was not somewhere you would expect a Hollywood actor.

I can’t really for this, given where I saw them. But yes please do actually name them if it’s not incriminating 😀

You see a surprising number on the tube in London, usually out of rush hour. I saw Davina McCall and Richard Curtis in the same week a couple of years ago.

In the early 70s, was in the toilets in a London department store and Olivia Newton John walked out of a cubicle! Lovely girl, very friendly and chatty.

In the 80s or 90s, I was serving in our family newsagents in Lancaster and Jim Bowen (Bullseye) walked in to buy a newspaper and a packet of cigarettes! Again, lovely friendly bloke.

Never seen any other celeb in person, well none that I recognised anyway.

Living in London, actors and actresses sometimes seen on the Underground. Lindsay Lohan when doing a play in the West end a few years back. Occasionally politicians, saw Paddy Ashdown once, for example.

Princess Anne at an Equine euthanasia conference.

Danielle Westbrook at Burghley horse trials.

Several in hotels I worked at, not big fancy places either, or anywhere special. In a small Market town. Jo Bland, Keith Allen, Stephen Gately and Ronan,

Stephen Fry in a local pub.

Tigresswoods · 06/11/2024 19:57

Mike Bushell at a kids cricket match last summer. I saw him & thought, "where do I know him from? Is he one of the dads?"

ImRonBurgandy · 06/11/2024 19:57

Saw Jools Holland in Westminster Abbey - after an Evensong Service, I think.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 06/11/2024 20:05

A friend of mine saw Father Christmas at a pub urinal and had the quick foresight to say "I always thought you went down chimneys!"

Apparently Father Christmas was unimpressed and consequently didn't give him a present that Christmas. 😒

Waiting outside an after school club to pick up, Jane Torvill just stood there chatting away to other mums.

I saw Jilly cooper in the 80's on a train to Bath. I actually asked for her autograph when she was outside the station waiting for her lift. Lovely friendly lady. Also saw Martin Johnson (rugby player) at Paddington station but couldn't remember his name 🤣🤣 just said good luck with the big match you!! 🤣🤣

Joe Lycett lives near us. We saw him out and about with his new baby for a little while before the announcement. So if it's a prank, he's taking it really far.
