Celebs where you don’t expect to see them

I did a drivers awareness course today, one of the online courses where the group joins via teams or whatever it is. You only see everyone’s face and first name.
Anyway, there was one participant that after a while of thinking she was familiar, I realised she’s a TV presenter. I’m certain it was her, but if it wasn’t then this woman with the same name shares an uncanny resemblance.

I don’t spot many celebs where I live so it was quite exciting to be sharing a space with one. Even if it was that particular space. She seemed very pleasant.

Ever had any random celeb spots like that?

My Dd met Sarah from Corrie at Dunelm when they were both just shopping, she said she was lovely and agreed to a selfie

pambeesleyhalpert · 06/11/2024 20:47

Andy from cebebies at the farm with his kids

Tony Robinson at a pub in Little Venice.
Bill Nighy at the till in the mini Sainsbury in Chelsea. He was talking colourfully but cheerily on the phone as he paid.
Not sure if Ricky Gervais held the door for me as I left a butcher's a few months ago. I was a bit flustered checking I had everything in my bags so only caught a glance and did a double take as I got past him, so not 100%. Right town although I gather he is vegan which maybe weighs against it being him.

Richard Wilson (Victor Meldrew) at a Chartered Surveyors sevens rugby tournament.
James Blunt in Geneva airport, chatting to attendants as we got ready to board
Jimmy Page coming down the stairs into Boots in Westfield Shepherds Bush.
Ian Mckellen in a pub garden in Greenwich; he was good enough to come over and talk to one of our group who is disabled. Coincidentally a friend saw him later that week reading the questions at a pub quiz somewhere in East / North London; his friends won the quiz.

Steve Coogan out jogging, but we used to live near him, so not that surprising. He is very polite and keeps himself to himself. Sally Gunnell at a motorway service station, I think we were on our way to Lancaster so it was one of the ones on the M6, I didn't speak to her. And Alastair Campbell at a kids sports thing years ago, I think his son was running cross country.

Babysharkdododododooo · 06/11/2024 20:49

My dc used to go to a kids club with paloma faiths dc. I don’t actually know who she is but people speak very highly of her

Jayne Torvill for me too! In the toilets at Rovaniemi airport of all places.

I’ve seen Jayne Torvill too, in Uckfield Tesco. It was about 15 years ago, I was leaving the shop as she was going in. She pointed out the flowers I was carrying to her daughter and said they were very pretty.

Jason Donovan opened a taxi door into me outside the London Palladium, he didn’t even apologise, however I don’t think he realised he’d done it. I think he must have been late for his show (He was in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) and he literally sprinted from the taxi into the theatre.

Linda Robson in the queue for the toilets in Selfridges around Christmas time.

Johnny Vaughan walking through Cowes high Street with his wife and kids.

When I was at school I worked in a shop and often used to serve Geoffrey Hughes (Onslow in Keeping Up Appearances), he used to buy multipacks of Camel Lights.

I saw Jill Halfpenny on a ferry once and Melvin Hayes (different crossings).

Probably a few others I’ve forgotten about 😂.

NottsNora · 06/11/2024 20:38

Because she was having an affair with Prince Charles.

No justification.

Zone2NorthLondon · 06/11/2024 20:50

Lots of celebrities, In my work setting, but I can’t breach confidentiality
Sometimes I don’t know who they are,or their role and they tell me they’re x and are well known

JudyKing · 06/11/2024 20:50

Oh, I just remembered another one. Brad Pitt popped into our local when he was filming nearby. That pub has been legendary ever since 😜

NooNakedJacuzziness · 06/11/2024 20:50

David Hasselhoff in my gym - he was quite tall and very jolly

LaPalmaLlama · 06/11/2024 20:51

Also James Ward Prowse ( Notts Forest striker) at the baggage belt at Dubai airport . He was lovely and posed for a selfie.

DS saw the whole Aston Villa team at Rownhams services and stalked them round WH Smith’s to see what they bought ( nothing interesting).

ChilliHeeler1 · 06/11/2024 20:51

Danny Murphy (ex footballer and think he became a football commentator) buying chocolate sundae pots in Asda years ago.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/11/2024 20:52

Steven Spielberg in a California hotel - he offered to help with a fix on my ex's camera and my ex didn't even recognise him (though he did mention that "the guy seemed to know what he was doing" Grin)

Duchess of Cambridge (as she was then) on a Norfolk beach with the first two kids - though probably that doesn't count as unexpected since she lived up the road

Frith2013 · 06/11/2024 20:52

Robert Plant EVERYWHERE. He lives up the road and it seems we shop and watch football in all the same places.

EggandStress · 06/11/2024 20:52

Ed Milliband with his son at a children's sport activity.

Namechangefordaughterevasion · 06/11/2024 20:53

the brilliant actress Monica Dolan and I used to do the same Zoom yoga class sometimes. I'd seen her on stage a couple of times and really wanted to say how much I admired her work but the whole class would have heard and it seemed inappropriate. If you are reading this Monica - I really admire your work.

The equally talented Pauline Quirke queuing for the loo at a gig somewhere in North London.

And the ambarrasing time I saw Peter Andre in Waitrose. I knew I knew him from somewhere but wasn't sure where so overcompensated with a very friendly "Hi, how ARE you?' and then realised who he was. To his credit he smiled and said "Hello.there , good thanks' before turning quickly away.

And a couple of weeks ago I saw another great actress Patsy Ferrans (not so well known atm but IMO the next Dame Judy Dench - she is insanely talented) in the audience of a London matinee. It seemed odd to see her on that side of the curtain.

deademptyduck · 06/11/2024 20:53

Olivia Coleman buying a stack of posh ready meals in Holt, Norfolk.
Keith Lemon in Orlando with his family

Jifmicroliquid · 06/11/2024 20:53

I was in a queue next to Gazza waiting for Thunder Mountain in Disneyland Paris.

ImRonBurgandy · 06/11/2024 20:53

Oh I forgot the most recent! Ricky Gervais made friends with my dog on the Heath!

HowManyDaysTilChristmas · 06/11/2024 20:54

Carol Vorderman flagged me down while I was leaving work for the day, because she wanted to come to my food van when it was next open. 🥲

UmbrellaEllaEllaElla · 06/11/2024 20:55

I saw Margot Robbie in a night club. Just as beautiful in person and an amazing smile.

Dweetfidilove · 06/11/2024 20:56

Swizz Beatz at a school play.
Duke of Sussex on a flight.

LifeOfBriony · 06/11/2024 20:57

LlynTegid · 06/11/2024 19:55

Living in London, actors and actresses sometimes seen on the Underground. Lindsay Lohan when doing a play in the West end a few years back. Occasionally politicians, saw Paddy Ashdown once, for example.

I saw Susan Jameson on the tube a few years ago. She half smiled, and I smiled back, which was quite a nice moment.

Jewnicorn · 06/11/2024 20:57

Two Derry girls at the table next to me at a cafe.
I saw a guy in town the other day who was definitely famous. He was chatting to a reporter outside a theatre, distinguished older man, Home Counties accent. It’s driving me mad because I know his face I just can’t place him.

boogiewoogie24 · 06/11/2024 20:58

I saw bbc midlands today reporter Ian Winter at Birmingham Library. We were up the top outside. My boyfriend at the times name was Ian and I was calling his name as I knew I knew this bloke from somewhere but couldn't think where. So Ian Winter turned round because I'd called his name even though it was my boyfriend I was calling

Saw the actor who plays Eric Pollard in asda

Saw Alison Hammond in a park dressed as wicked stepmother from cinderella. She was doing panto at nearby theatre and they were doing promotional photos.
