Celebs where you don’t expect to see them

I did a drivers awareness course today, one of the online courses where the group joins via teams or whatever it is. You only see everyone’s face and first name.
Anyway, there was one participant that after a while of thinking she was familiar, I realised she’s a TV presenter. I’m certain it was her, but if it wasn’t then this woman with the same name shares an uncanny resemblance.

I don’t spot many celebs where I live so it was quite exciting to be sharing a space with one. Even if it was that particular space. She seemed very pleasant.

Ever had any random celeb spots like that?

Two of the Big Brother contestants in the fruit & veg section in Tesco, I probably wouldn't have recognised them but wearing duffle coats with the hoods up on a sunny day and sun glasses inside kind of screamed look at me. Luckily myself and fellow Tesco shoppers resisted the temptation to mob them for autographs.

Sat next to Charles and Camilla in the stalls (which I guess has a better view than a box) at a well known comedy show in a London Theatre- they were very discreet though, didn't take their seats until the lights went down and were out of them before lights came up at the interval, he did have a really loud laugh so not that discreet but I just thought it was lovely they were enjoying the show.

Kelsey Grammer and His wife and family inside The Cheddar Gorge caves a few years back when we were on holiday. It was the most random and weird thing as we had actually been watching Frasier whilst getting ready that morning to go to the caves!!
Saw in the news a couple of days later that he was over for a wedding of his wives family in Bristol I think.

I used to see a few people in Sainsbury's down the road from where I lived. They were quite well known from television, no more than that. One was Alex Walkinshaw (?sp), who was Smithy in The Bill, and Fletch in Holby. Hale and Pace both shopped there, not together but i used to see them. My son went to school with Norman Pace's son, also Gary Bushell's; I saw the latter occasionally but not in the supermarket :-). There was a young woman who used to be in EE or Corrie, can't remember which, who was local. Kate Bush but she moved away to Devon or somewhere. Willard White and Glenda Jackson lived fairly locally. When I worked in central London I saw loads of people who were well known and met some.

When we were students DH worked on the deli counter in Safeway and once served Robin Cook cheese.
Toddler DD once threw a chip at Bill Nighy in a Mallorcan restaurant. Same holiday we passed James Nesbitt at the local market.

You see a surprising number on the tube in London, usually out of rush hour. I saw Davina McCall and Richard Curtis in the same week a couple of years ago.

Saw Richard Whitely RIP on the tube once. My uncle used to leave her White City tube and as it was the nearest to the old bbc place saw a fair few celebs on his commute

CrushingOnRubies · 06/11/2024 21:46

Saw Frank skinner at a farm shop/ cafe in the Cotswolds.

squashyhat · 06/11/2024 21:48

Greta Scacchi on a train to London a few years ago. She lives locally. She was on her phone and being very loud and luvvie-ish. And a Game of Thrones actor - Stephen Dillane - apparently lives at the end of my road, so I must have seen him at some point. Wouldn't recognise him though.

I walked past Sinead O'Connor on a street in Dublin in the 90's, she was absolutely stunning. Saw Iggy Pop on Miami beach about 10 years ago, he could see he was recognised and looked a bit grumpy. Saw Dylan Moran in a supermarket in his old home town in Ireland a few weeks ago

weareallcats · 06/11/2024 21:51

Hermione Norris in a lift in a Manchester hotel.

David Bradley walking up a non-exciting street in my local town (have found out since he lives here).

Steve Backshall in a shop and then on the beach in Cornwall.
