Share some historical MN dilemmas and stories.
What kind of posts do you think we would be reading if MN was around in the good old days of yore?

My child has a strange rash. Could this be the pox upon us?

Apothecary now!

BruceAndNosh · 30/10/2024 21:44

My DH insisted that his mother came to live with us after we wed. But the old crone is really getting on my teats.
How much longer is she likely to live? I mean she's nearly 50 so she can't have much time left!

Have you considered reporting her as a witch? That could solve your problem fairly quickly.

Got leftovers from nights of carousing, revelling and thigh-slapping rollicks. Any suggestions as to what I can use this butt of Malmsey for?

redalex261 · 30/10/2024 21:54

I am crying laughing at these!!

MammaKel · 30/10/2024 21:56

AIBU to think I have the black plague? (picture included)

Flor5 · 30/10/2024 22:00

Woulede it be frugal or prudent of me to serve a banquet of a whole roste byrde and huge Mumsnette salad of foraged herbes and sup off the leftovers and entrails for the subsequente three dayes?

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 30/10/2024 22:00

I WFC making bespoke fabric with a loom I inherited from DM. However DH has been working on a gadget that he calls a Spinning Jenny which means I can make loads more fabric and I've been earning a tidy sum which I've been saving to buy a new horse and cart. Dh has started selling them to our friends too.
however some nosy neighbour called Mr Arkwright has stolen Dh's design and is now making piles of cash selling them to mill owners. AIBU to have the local Wise Woman put a hex on him ?

EdithStourton · 30/10/2024 22:02

AIBU to be delighted that my useless XH has been press-ganged into the navy?

avaritablevampire · 30/10/2024 22:11

AIBU to think the new dunck pond will be used to test the witches of this parish?

murasaki · 30/10/2024 22:13

My youngest went out to clean a chimney two days ago, should I be worried that he is stuck?

Since no one has yet invented the patio, I believe that a butt of Malmsey is the best place to hide the body of an unwanted spouse

Baby name dilemma!

Jebediah, Jedediah or Balonz?

I wouldn't worry too much. It doesn't sound like the type of invention that will really take off. I mean, I'm sure your DH is very clever and all that, but it's not exactly going to spark a textiles revolution or anything.

Men , huh? You cannot truste them to do anethinge ryght.

This guy called at the hovel, asking for shelter. I asked him to watch the cakes as they cooked on the fyre. They are noe burned to a crispe.

My two young sons having been staying with their uncle in a lovely place in London while I sort out some domestic issues post my DH dying, but I've not heard from them recently, should I be worried?

Strategic incompetence.
He'll never amount to anything, certainly won't ever be worthy of the title The Great

Style and Beauty
Does my bum look big in this bustle?

murasaki · 30/10/2024 22:35

Someone we know is trying to get us to put some money into a new venture, he says he can discover new lands and multiply our investment many times, he just needs 3 boats and some costs up front.

Is this an MLM? Asking from Spain.

murasaki · 30/10/2024 22:50

My husband thinks we should emigrate and has gone to recce a new place to live. I've got a really big tapestry on the go, AIBU to stay at home for a bit?

My husband went off to war 10 years ago, first sacrificing our eldest DD to ensure fair winds for his fleet. I hear he is now on his way back with OW in tow expecting a hero’s welcome. Well I’ve moved on meantime, plus I am still furious about DD. WIBU to murder him as soon as he gets in? I fear our other two DC will be upset.

Sharrilanda · 30/10/2024 23:09

I found this on RightCave.
Opinions please?
Is anyone local who can tell me what the area is like?
I can't really tell if there is a cartway where I can park my donkey.
DH is keen on a doer upper.

I feed a family of 9 and two swine on half a turnip for a week and still have leftovers because we are all so stuffed.
you must be very wasteful and greedy to need a whole turnip.
