No

Was it about Labour taking away WFA?

No. It was some absolute bollocks about the Motability scheme amongst other things.

Zonder · 26/10/2024 14:07

Just a general rant about people the OP "knows" who get HUGE amounts of benefits.

Notonthestairs · 26/10/2024 14:16

Not just the people she knows - she also received a hefty payment from the government that was far TOO MUCH.

The pensioners in her family have apparently never been so well off! I guess they won't mind means testing WFA.

Am fascinated with what is going on at the LA Times & Washington Post.
Billionaire owners spiking endorsements for Harris seemingly in fear of what Trump might do to their other businesses if he wins.

Makes me wonder what other stories have been spiked - and will be in the future.
And whether leaving the media in the hands of billionaires was wise.

"The AP reported that hours after the Post announced its endorsement decision, Trump greeted executives from Blue Origin, the space company owned by Bezos that has a $3.4bn contract with Nasa to build a spacecraft to carry astronauts to the moon and back."

Righty-hoo. I’m glad to hear that welfare cuts for those shivering, blue-lipped OAPs aren’t being promoted by the crueller sort of posters you can get on here.

Don't worry those pensioners will have found some illegal immigrants in their wardrobes or under their beds to keep them warm Confused

Warm banks popped up under the Tories, and not just for pensioners.

The WaPo lost their editor who resigned and a lot of subscribers

Sincerely hope someone leaks the endorsement article - it was ready to go apparently.

We're pensioners. I keep checking my bedrooms, even under the beds, and in the wardrobes for lurking illegal immigrants. None yet!
I have never heard such tosh in my life 😂😅

We haven’t got any either. Why have we been missed out? What’s wrong with us?

Zonder · 26/10/2024 16:20

You are both the wrong type of pensioner, clearly.

A recent consumer affairs program, looking into car insurance had a caller ring in, said her premium had gone up X amount, as it does every year for her and one of her complaints was she could not longer use the WFA to pay for this increase....

Exactly why it had to go.

I must have blinked and missed the new thread !

Apologies if commented on but nowhere near Clacton ...

Well, I'm miffed. Nasty Bob said I'd find an illegal immigrant in my bedroom. It was almost a promise. But nothing. It's not fair. As suggested, I was hoping we would warm each other up in the freezing pensioners wasteland in which Labour has apparently abandoned us. I'd even put some Disney cartoons on the wall. I suspect that Nasty Bob hasn't told us the whole truth? But that couldn't happen, could it?

Notonthestairs · 26/10/2024 08:53

HHHHmmm. Let me guess. New poster/recent name changer - half dozen posts on innocuous topics and then something highly goady and contentious.

Will follow the same path as every other one of those threads - sets it up for particular posters, walks away. Changes name. And on.

I tend to try and guess how long it takes the usual suspects to show up. I’m not sure if they don’t understand how the tax system works or are being deliberately vague to whip up anti government feeling.

PickAChew · 26/10/2024 17:20

No pets, as always, but I did spot this fine old (OK, middle aged) lady in a charity shop, this week. If it wasn't for the price tag and the lack of spare surface that doesn't already have a sewing machine on it I'd have bought it for the rather splendid manufacturer's label.

Amusingly enough, a post has just popped up on my local community FB page (anonymous, strangely) purporting o be from someone who "works hard" but can't have a holiday, yet knows "loads of people" on benefits who own their own yachts and have their shopping personally delivered by Keir Starmer while Rachael Reeves waits in the drivers seat.*

Pretty much the exponential use of "AI" you would expect as it's "learning" accelerates.

*Some ideas for the next cycle of posts ....
