What is on your kitchen counters?

Just that really. I’m asking because my friend thinks it’s odd to keep a toaster on the counter at all times. But I find it odd that she keeps her toaster in the cupboard when it’s not in use…

On my counters I have, a sink caddy, hot drinks station (kettle, Hotel Chocolate Velvetiser, tea, coffee and sugar canisters), a utensil jar, toaster, microwave (with a storage basket on top), a rotating herb/spice rack and a fruit bowl…

Kettle, tea and coffee canisters, microwave, toaster, airfryer and a kitchen roll holder, oh and Alexa.
Yeah I probably need to declutter a bit

shellyleppard · 20/10/2024 20:24

Microwave, bread bin and toaster. Then air fryer on small worktop. Then kettle, tea tray, pasta canisters and basket with cleaning stuff by the sink

notsureunsure · 20/10/2024 20:24

I’m clearly uneducated because I had to Google what a Thermomix, one cup boiler and aeropress was 😅

Fortunate to have a lot of worktop space
One bit has microwave, toaster, air fryer and George Foreman grill. Corner piece has cooking utensils in a pot and spice rack
Little space next to sink has hot water machine

JackJarvisEsq · 20/10/2024 20:27

Air fryer, coffee machine, hand wash and moisturiser

everything else is in cupboards and if my utility was closer to the kitchen I’d put the air fryer in there

cwtchwitch · 20/10/2024 20:27

From right to left I have a microwave, a toaster, the tea kettle, my 2 sinks, with dish detergent and the hand soap on either side of the tap.
I have two containers that hold my most often used utensils, my cooker, a mini processor, five containers of dry cat food,(yes 5), a metal red and Chrome bread box that holds my spice jars, easy to access and out of sight.
My kitchen is a working kitchen and I couldn't care less if anyone thinks appliances I use everyday should be out of sight.
Although I must admit, that bending over everyday to reach appliances, tucked deep inside cupboards, would be a good form of exercise I suppose...

olympicsrock · 20/10/2024 20:28

Food mixer, air fryer, toaster , smoothie maker , kettle, hot drinks jars, coffee machine , chopping boards

evilharpy · 20/10/2024 20:28

Thermomix
Salt pig
Knife block
Toaster
Kettle
Air fryer
Microwave

We also have a trolley with kenwood mixer, bread maker, food waste caddy

It sounds like a lot when I see it all written down! It's quite spread out though and doesn't look cluttered.

I have an air fryer, knife block, kettle, utensils pot, pasta jar and a fruit bowl. I have one of those hidden cupboard things (can’t remember what the kitchen designer called it) for my toaster, microwave and soda stream.

A larder? We have one with a plug point inside, but we use the space to hide our baking trays, pots, pans and a wok…

Kettle, coffee machine, yogurt maker, toaster, kitchenaid mixer and blender. Pot of utensils, sea salt caddy from Provence, wooden recipe stand which I also put my phone and iPad on.

User543211 · 20/10/2024 20:31

Just a toaster and kettle. Microwave in a larder cupboard, and instant pot in the utility.
Velvetiser and other stuff gets put away after use.

dontforgetme · 20/10/2024 20:32

Alexa, vase with flowers, air fryer, kettle and toaster.

twilighteaser · 20/10/2024 20:32

Toaster, kettle, Coffee Machine, Kenwood Chef, Tablet, Utensils, Olive Oils, salt. We're not in UK and Italian DH think's it weird that we have a kettle and that the toaster is not kept in a cupboard when not in use!

Westiegirl3 · 20/10/2024 20:32

From left to right I have
Vase with flowers, Kitchen roll holder, kettle, (oven) utensils holder, salt & pepper grinder, toaster, ninja, opposite next to sink we have a blade.

doodleschnoodle · 20/10/2024 20:32

Toaster, air fryer, kettle, little velvetiser thing for making hot chocolate. We use toaster every day, definitely wouldn't keep it in a cupboard!

Idontlikeyou · 20/10/2024 20:33

We have enormously deep window sills (cottage-thick walls) so a lot of stuff is on those.

On the actual worktop is:

Toaster (used at least twice a day)
Tea/Coffee
Spoon rest
Wooden chopping boards that double as pan rests
Bread bin
3 Utensil pots - technically in chimney recess
Slow Cooker
Veg basket
Egg rack (own hens)
Fruit bowl but this is temporary as usually in dining room but that’s being renovated
Soda stream

Kettle is a whistling one so lives on hob

I’m not counting the disobedient felines….

StopStartStop · 20/10/2024 20:33

Microwave (unused), kettle, crockery, bottles of water, breadbin.

Boutonnière · 20/10/2024 20:37

Toaster. kettle, tea caddy ( bags) tea caddy ( leaves ) teapot. Small moka espresso pot (mine) A NASA space station - actually my DH’s overpriced, oversized twiddles and dials coffee machine that makes whooshing sounds like it’s taking off.

Food processor - too heavy to keep lugging in and out
Utensils jar
Fruit bowl

SquigglePigs · 20/10/2024 20:39

We've got a fair amount of counter space so:

Toaster
Kettle
Microwave
Air fryer
Utensil holder
Scales
Heat proof mats
Soda stream
Fruit bowl
Bread bin
Onion barrel
Potato barrel
Cookery book stand
Oils, vinegars, salt and pepper
Chopping boards

Rotating depending on my food mood (but technically they have cupboard space):
Rice steamer
Velvetiser
Soup maker

And I still have plenty of prep space. I can't be doing faffing puking things out of cupboards that we use regularly.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 20/10/2024 20:40

Tea/coffee canisters, kettle and matching toaster, air-fryer, kitchen roll holder, hand wash and hand cream in stand, decorative bowl, wire basket of fruit.

I have a feeling your kitchen is the size of my house! 😂

Why do so many people leave kettles and toasters out when they’re not using them? Are they too big to fit in cupboards?

I use the kettle multiple times a day, and it would be insane to keep putting it away and taking it out again.
Toaster is a 4 slice one and I probably would put it away if it wasn’t in its little appliances cabinet as I only use it maybe twice a week.

Nope, I’m just too lazy to lug them around. My kettle and toaster are used multiple times a day

We use both all the time and wouldn’t have enough cupboard space even if we didn’t. Kettle lives on the hob where kettles belong in my world. We despise electric kettles.
