More good news

Labour has dumped climate denier ex-Aussie PM Tony Abbott as a government trade advisor.

The new government has also binned all the other Tory appointees to the Board of Trade.

I wish I'd achieved more in my first 100 days. It took Liz Truss only half this time to wreck the economy, double everyone's mortgage and resign. By this point Boris Johnson had lied to The Queen, illegally prorogued Parliament and lost 15 votes in the Commons.

I applaud some of the posters here who are currently on the extremely annoying & at times nasty thread about replacing KS & RR who have managed to debate in such a reasoned way is a thing of beauty some of the comments & horrific attitudes by some posters are truly abhorrent.

pointythings · 11/10/2024 19:52

It's absolutely appalling on there, but I'm not alone. So sad that anti Islam sentiment has also reared its ugly head now.

Nope. Definitely not alone. 👍

Bloody hell - it's easy to forget all of that.

The Week in Tory is now behind paywall in the Bylines Times, shame really

I haven’t been able to see it since I had to leave Xitter because I couldn’t stand it.

I didn't realise that thread was still going, Shock at the way it has gone.

SerendipityJane · 12/10/2024 09:45

Incidentally, has anyone told the private school parents who are hoping that the Hail Mary the ECHR gives them will be toast if the Tories get back in .?

I bet they aren't talking about that on those threads

DuncinToffee · 12/10/2024 13:42

Good

The Daily Mail won the right to say Douglas Barrowman has "cocktail-sausage fingers".

And it won the right to say his actions ruined thousands of lives, led to two suicides, and that he lied about his ties to a likely fraudulent tax scheme.

Alex Salmond has died.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 12/10/2024 17:40

Bloody hell - didn't expect to hear that, he was only 69.

PandoraSox · 12/10/2024 17:45

God, that is a shocker.

BIossomtoes · 12/10/2024 17:55

He looked very unwell. I’m surprised he was only 69. I feel sorry for his family, it’s awful that he died so far from home.

PandoraSox · 12/10/2024 18:00

Yes, they have the added trauma of getting him back to Scotland.

Piggywaspushed · 12/10/2024 18:06

He went rather rogue at the end but he was a big part of my political upbringing. Sad news.

Edited

Agreed.

Terrible for the family.

Andrew Neil has tweeted that when he had lunch with him 3 weeks ago he was in fine form. Taken ill while making his speech, apparently.
