Yes, but you're a politically minded person who probably expects a lot of your MP!

Yes, fair point!

DuncinToffee · 08/10/2024 08:39

I just looked up mine, I thought he might have moved to a new office seeing it is a new constituency but no, he is still in the old office. His website has nothing from before Sep but he is having a 2 hour consultation on WFA on Friday.

So he hasn't held a surgery but can find the time for a dedicated session on the WFA ?

SerendipityJane · 08/10/2024 09:02

Johnson has no political power.

I disagree. He does, even though no one elected him anything. That's why he is so dangerous. He can drown out any sensible debate with his tripe - which silences elected politicians - with zero comeback.

Like Farage previously who held no elected office yet appeared on TV more than the weather.

Look at Trump in the US now. Elected to fuck all, yet affecting the lives of millions. It's the Nazis wet dream.

DuncinToffee · 08/10/2024 09:03

It's promoted as surgery and I think it is the first one he has held. His facebook is full of pictures of him being about so he has a presence.

Why ?

The die is cast. What is the point of "consulting" now ?

Will it change anything ?

They'd be more use litter picking for a couple of hours.

DuncinToffee · 08/10/2024 09:44

The optics of doing it in his Hindhead office aren't very good either, nowhere near the deprived areas that could benefit from help accessing what they are entitled to.

Vibes of the Tory advert.

Inspired by this thread, I looked up my new, Labour MP. There's not a lot of information. She held weekly surgeries when she was a Councillor, so chances are she still does. Otherwise, you can send her an email (I will). I'm not sure if this is just that she's a lot busier now or a(nother) communications fail.

PickAChew · 08/10/2024 12:31

My MP is best buds with Kate Osborne and fights for women and girls with one hand and tells them to move over for certain men with the other. I can't fault her visibility in the constituency, though.

DuncinToffee · 08/10/2024 16:02

Tom Tugendhat knocked out of Tory leadership race.

Jenrick: 31
Badenoch: 30
Cleverly: 39
Tugendhat: 20

Tugendhat has been knocked out. Final two decided tomorrow. It will most likely be be Jenrick or Cleverley. BadEnoch may still get through.

Notonthestairs · 08/10/2024 16:07

It will be interesting to see where those 20 votes go - and if others shift at all.

I reckon they’ll go to Cleverly, he’s the least deranged closest to Tugendhat of the three.

I can't fault Bravermans visibility in the community.

But I wish she'd fuck off Grin

Notonthestairs · 08/10/2024 16:26

@BIossomtoes I suspect the MPs will want to select the last two - so although Cleverly might be their first choice, they'll want to select the runner up so won't automatically vote Cleverly.

Badenoch and Jenrick's teams will be hitting the phones hard - a lot of jobs on offer!

countrygirl99 · 08/10/2024 18:05

My mother (who has alzheimer's and gets very confused when anyone mentions the PM and it isn't Johnson) is one of those who is eligible to vote for the Tory leader. If Jenrick gets through she'll definitely vote for him. If it's Cleverly & Badenoch she will probably implode. I'll let you guess why.

The Labour Party asks: “Can we start again please?”

Very good 😆
(Apologies to those without Twitter)

I bet she won't be the only one!

That looks interesting @DuncinToffee . But Johnson is a big turn off, obvs. Shame on you Channel 4!

DuncinToffee · 08/10/2024 20:27

I really don't get why anyone would give him air time

Wait, he's on with Stormy Daniels!?!

Notonthestairs · 08/10/2024 21:54

A side note on Tory leadership contest... the final two candidates must donate £150,000 each to CCHQ

That’s on top of £50,000 that each of final four already had to give CCHQ

Move has sparked ‘annoyance’ among some campaigns & claims it’ll be used for CCHQ redundancy pay offs

That's quite a chunk of money to find.

He can waffle for hours so he'll provide filler. Maybe they want to hear about Peppa Pig.

BIossomtoes · 08/10/2024 21:57

I’d be extremely interested to know where they’ve got £200k from.
