That will only feed the Farage fanbois narrative that "they" are out to "get him".

These are the thick-as-pigshits who think Farage is somehow being "supressed" despite being on TV more often than the weather.

Oops he did it again

Alistair Campbell was interviewed on the Today programme this morning with someone who had worked for Gordon Brown’s government and they made the point that usually governments have budgets shortly after being elected. The delay in the current government’s budget means that departments cannot plan fully because they don’t know their spending restraints, plus it creates a void which is filled by speculation.

creates a void which is filled by speculation.

The closest thing in physics to make energy from fuck all.

It's really bad actually because government spending has been up in the air since an election was called. By the time this is sorted its likely to be almost a year which causes all sorts of issues for suppliers as well as the departments themselves.

I hope Starmer does not go all Gordon Brown; quiet, obsessed by detail, communication almost nil. Nor should he get tempted by the usual international junket stuff. The reason he has been elected is to repair the country. I have seen too many PMs get frustrated, get bored of fighting the Treasury and get on a plane to the next summit where none of that exists.

I hear Starmer has some spare glasses that might help him see his wife when she’s next to him.

Things are looking interesting regarding Sue Gray and her new role.
I would also wager a lot on Johnson making his return soon.
I wonder what Rishi Sunak’s next move will be because ever so many people thought he would be off to California by now iirc?

Zonder · 07/10/2024 22:34

What would Johnson return to? I blooming hope not.

As for Rishi, I'm sure he's spending quite a bit of time in California already. I wonder where his girls are at school now. I mean which country - I'm not a stalker!

Oh god. Just what we need. Johnson and Farage. 🙈

newnamethanks · 07/10/2024 22:39

Well there will soon be a new Tory leader for Johnson and his fans to undermine so he won't be far away. He still thinks he can come back. Undead.

CassieMaddox · 07/10/2024 22:42

Talking about Tories I see Cleverly is favourite to win now

Maybe the conference nonsense has made people realise that Jenrick/Badenoch are clueless.

Would that be before he slips her the date rape drug or after?

Llttledrummergirl · 07/10/2024 23:54

Johnson has no political power. He's a washed up has been who partied too hard and had no control of anything.

That Farage currently has more political power than Johnson is almost hilarious (unless you happen to be one of his constituents).

I was arguing with one of his constituents on Facebook earlier. She didn't like it when I asked if he'd done any surgeries yet. She said I was a stupid lefty who was rattled by Reform because I'd have to get a job when they got in. I pointed out to her that I'm a pensioner who's still working. She doesn't understand the difference between asylum seekers and migrants either. That's the calibre of people in Clacton who elected him. I just feel sorry for the poor sods who didn't vote for him.

Piggywaspushed · 08/10/2024 06:44

The vast majority of people never have to see their MP so I can see why they aren't worked up about the surgeries, in all honesty.

ilovesooty · 08/10/2024 07:31

I'd be pretty disgusted to have an MP who was never seen in the constituency and tried to claim they'd been told by the Speaker not to conduct surgeries - particularly if said MP had a track record for non attendance at their job. Still, she and thousands of others voted to keep the "illegals" out.

Piggywaspushed · 08/10/2024 08:20

Yes, but you're a politically minded person who probably expects a lot of your MP!
