And that if the police and government had listened to him, the riots would not have been so bad.

I don't know why they were giving him airtime in the first place.

Agree completely. He's a dangerous man. Claiming that lawyers "agreed with him completely". Absolute nonsense. I don't know why he wasn't arrested over that video.

I wish they'd stop interviewing him.

Badenoch takes a swipe at migrant care workers, despite the UK having a shortage of 130,000 care workers, "We need to make sure we are thinking about the next generation, not just who's going to wipe bottoms for us today"

Missed this one from the lovely Kemi yesterday.

Missed this one from the lovely Kemi yesterday.

The thing is, a lot (and I mean a lot) of Tory backers make a lot (and I mean a lot) of money from immigrant care workers.

The fact that Kemi either doesn't know this, or doesn't care, will be one of the reasons I'm not thinking she's going to become LOTO.

PandoraSox · 02/10/2024 10:54

Care workers do a lot more than just wipe bottoms. And how dehumanising of people who need care, seeing them just as bottoms to be wiped.

Hateful woman.

Notonthestairs · 02/10/2024 11:00

Yes, I was just coming on to say similar @PandoraSox
Really shows how little she knows about the work and how valuable it is.

Remember the audience she thinks (a word I use with some hesitation) she is playing to. The fact she thinks this will go down well with them merely confirms why Jacob Rees Mogg agrees that Tories should be called scum.

Change of subject but this is scary. I love Ian Hislop. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cr750d1257mo

Someone is upset. Clearly Private Eye are onto a big story that no one else has been interested in.

I'm guessing Russian links to Tory donors, given the time of year.

I just heard that on the news

Christ, that’s awful. I love Hislop too, so witty.

Today's leadership news, Cleverly's speech got the biggest applause.

I'm sure they will want someone who can make Keir Starmer look bad. Someone who's smart enough to work out the best point of attack plus has a quick comeback and witty repartee at PMQs. All the while looking sincere and states(wo)manlike.
No one immediately springs to mind.

How can that be? I'm watching KB live right now

Badenoch speech

https://x.com/IanDunt/status/1841441641661341717

She's now suggesting conservative students are being marked down by their lecturers as punishment for their political views.

There's that thin layer of conspiratorial sludge in her rhetoric.

It's not just right-wing, it's deeply paranoid.

Yes, I missed out it was between Tugendhat and Cleverly

How does Badenoch come across to you?

Ian Dunt reckons she’s like Truss with added blue pills. 😂

Evenstar · 02/10/2024 12:48

I couldn’t watch it 🤢 they’re all so awful

DuncinToffee · 02/10/2024 12:48

Jenrick's speech was before Badenoch

Former Paymaster General Jesse Norman

I am very sorry to have to say it, but that speech of Robert Jenrick's was lazy, mendacious, simplistic tripe.

I am not watching either, following it via Ian Dunt, John Crace and Lewis Goodall Grin

I know she is the devil incarnate on here. The thing that struck me was her remarks about how different life growing up in Nigeria was compared to living in the UK. Despite its faults we should be proud of this country imho.

Why do you need to follow a speech through a left wing lens?

Why do you need to follow a speech through a left wing lens?

Because I enjoy it that way and those are accounts I follow.

I am not rightwing or a Tory voter. Once the leadership contest is over, I will take it more seriously.

I listened to a bit of it in the car on the way to work. It wasn't all absolutely awful though I appreciate that it's a low bar. My money is on a straight fight between him and Jenrick in the last two. Cue the howls from FWR of how the sainted Kemi has been victimised.

BIossomtoes · 02/10/2024 13:00

She victimised herself. Between maternity pay and bottom wipers her contempt for women is writ large.

That doesn't answer the question of what you think of her, her views and her plans for the Tory party

Given that she's proud that she hacked Harriet Harman's website, hats enough for me to form a view of her
