I’d agree if it was anyone but Duffield. Probably inevitable that she would walk at some point.

Genuine question - why?

DuncinToffee · 29/09/2024 09:54

Badenoch also said that not all cultures are equally valid when it comes to deciding who should be allowed into the UK and refuses to say the NHS should be free at the point of use forever.

Jenrick wants to leave the ECHR and refuses to say if he still backs Trump

I wonder if this is the start of the momentum lot causing an issue. I think she was a momentum MP?

DuncinToffee · 29/09/2024 10:02

Badenoch also states that leaving the ECHR is not radical enough,

For Kemi, a British passport isn’t enough to be British.
Working, paying tax & obeying the law is not enough to live here.
Parameters of who belongs must be drawn according to Kemi’s views, not the law & we must give up our individual rights vs govt in order to achieve that.

BIossomtoes · 29/09/2024 10:09

Is Kemi British enough to meet her own criteria?

Yy & Serendipity also hope you are feeling much better💐
Rosie Duffield appears more like spite rather than genuine convictions as she abstained from the voting on the issues she cites totally agree if you resign a by election should be called.

SerendipityJane · 29/09/2024 10:15

BIossomtoes · 29/09/2024 09:28

I really hope her constituents call for a by election.

They can call all they like.

Wtf these two have surpassed even themselves in nasty spiteful rhetoric & Tugendhat isn’t much better he has gone full on batshit fuckwit, always thought he was reasonably sensible & slightly less mad.

SerendipityJane · 29/09/2024 10:17

Many thanks, but op is on the 8th. Being a very good girl and taking everything they are telling me to for most efficacious outcome.

SerendipityJane · 29/09/2024 10:19

Remember that Reform have called "Mass deportations" so the Tories have to at least see that before they raise it.

The Patel colour chart may yet see a revival.

There’s a process for getting rid of sitting MPs which I assume applies as much in Canterbury as it did in Wellingborough.

CassieMaddox · 29/09/2024 10:21

BIossomtoes · 29/09/2024 10:09

Is Kemi British enough to meet her own criteria?

It's not about being British, apparently, its about "culture".
Culture is more than cuisine or clothes. It's also customs which may be at odds with British values....I am struck for example, by the number of recent immigrants to the UK who hate Israel. That sentiment has no place here
She's not far off talking about "remigration" in my opinion. It's repugnant.

Well, let's see if 10% of voters feel as I would.

Like I say - Reform have set the bar for the Tories to go under.

Piggywaspushed · 29/09/2024 10:28

I'm confused is it it OK to say you 'hate Israel' if you are not a recent immigrant?

Because that makes little to no sense.

How recent is recent anyway?

LlynTegid · 29/09/2024 10:37

newnamethanks · 29/09/2024 08:53

Ah, they're all up. Cleverley now, followed by Nasty Bob then Tom T.

I think corrupt Bob would be more appropriate.

newnamethanks · 29/09/2024 10:37

It was useful to see them lined up with one another if only to be able to list them in the Nastiest Tory Hopeful scale. In my view

  1. KB top
  2. Bob - working class parents BTW, hard-working of course
  3. Cleverley and Tugendhadt about the same.

What have we come to when Cleverley seems like a reasonable choice?

LlynTegid · 29/09/2024 10:38

BIossomtoes · 29/09/2024 10:20

I don't think anyone is suggesting that Rosie Duffield has committed any of the offences that lead to a recall petition.

newnamethanks · 29/09/2024 10:42

Fair point LlynTegid. I find it hard to choose which is worse, £10 million bung to mate or painting over the cartoons. For sheer petty, vindictive nastiness which reveals true character, I think it's the cartoons. Nasty and corrupt.

PandoraSox · 29/09/2024 11:01

Hi all, just popping in to say hello. I haven't posted much over the last couple of days or so. My beloved cat suddenly became very ill and had to be put to sleep. Am absolutely, stupidly heartbroken and don't have much headspace to follow politics at the moment, let alone comment much. But I will catch up via this thread xxx

Piggywaspushed · 29/09/2024 11:06

Oh, that's so sad. Massive hugs.

Owlbookend · 29/09/2024 11:06

I will be honest & say in the past i had time for Duffield although i know nothing as her as a person. I think sex based rights & protections are important and can imagine how difficult it is to articulate those views when they lead to high levels of personal crticism and you know you are likely a minority within active party members.
However, the resignation just feels highly cynical - particularly so soon after the election. She took the money & support and more or less knew the score. WFA - well she didnt vote against. Why? Glasses-gate etc. Seems very weak reason. If she'd said before the election she couldnt stand for labour for whatever reason fair enough. If she'd voted against policies not in the manifesto she disagreed with & lost the whip also fair enough. However, this serms a deliberate attempt to cause damage, which so soon after using all the party resources in the election just seems wrong.

cardibach · 29/09/2024 11:08

Oh @PandoraSox thats sad 😢
