The comments are horrific, I don't know how she copes with it. It's getting to a point that I think X is very toxic to humanity.

I agree. Horrible comments.

Notonthestairs · 26/09/2024 18:56

"Could someone take the same approach and get the Russian interference report published as well?"

Yes, I'd like to read it in full.

itsgettingweird · 26/09/2024 19:37

And the added thing in my case is I have the funds to have paid to go to an optician and pay for the detailed scan on top when I couldn't get a free nhs GP apt.

Not everyone can afford it.

But don't worry. I've no concerns that there's anything neuro going on. There's no symptoms other than cluster headaches which so far seem to be controlled by ridiculous amounts of amatriptyline. So I'm floating on a cloud nowadays 😂😂😂

I did say to the GP I'd be surprised if neuro accept a referral. My ds - who has a degenerative neuro muscular condition - has been refused a referral to them ......... twice!!!!

Sayeeda Warsi has resigned the Conservative whip

https://x.com/SayeedaWarsi/status/1839346509684285668

Wow. Didn’t see that coming.

itsgettingweird · 26/09/2024 20:04

Tbf I've been impressed Sayeeda Warsi has stayed as long as she has. I really like her and her beliefs even if I don't agree with all her politics. (Iyswim?) She's a great speaker, very passionate and so different to the current lot.

Zonder · 26/09/2024 20:17

Good for her. She must have realised there's not much hope for the party but she's given it her best shot for sure.

RafaistheKingofClay · 26/09/2024 20:25

Surprised it’s taken her this long. She’s been a million miles away from where the current Tory party are for ages.

Sorry for all those on the emergency ward. Come join me in the recuperation ward when you are better.

Having said that - the more I think about it the more I think bringing back convalescent homes seems like a good idea.

This does not surprise me. She has not been hiding her disappointment in her party.

CassieMaddox · 26/09/2024 22:18

Do you know what, I wish she would set up her own version of the Conservatives. Was just listening to the latest TRiP where they were talking about "compassionate Conservatism". The wets need somewhere to go and I reckon it would scoop up a lot of centrist from other parties too.

More here. Looks like she's being investigated for her coconut picture on twitter 🙄 fkin ridiculous. On one hand you have right wingers getting upset about "two tier policing", "reasonable concerns", "freedom of speech" and "wokerati". And on the other they are investigating a brown female Lord for posting something they personally don't like.

The hypocrisy is outstanding.

Baroness Warsi speaking at Hay Festival

Baroness Warsi quits Conservative Party in the Lords

She accuses the party of “hypocrisy and double standards in its treatment of different communities”.

InMySpareTime · 27/09/2024 07:05

The way I read it, it wasn't Baroness Warsi's picture, the issue is that Marieha Hussain was acquitted for holding up a controversial placard with coconuts, and Warsi congratulated her on the acquittal.
She's being investigated for refusing to retract the congratulations.

What's it come to when congratulating someone for being found not guilty in a court of law is somehow racist?

itsgettingweird · 27/09/2024 07:15

I agree.

I can't believe nothing is done about Johnson writing about "letterbox woman" referring to Muslims and the hijab and face coverings and yet a Muslim woman posts congratulations to someone and is investigated.

If the Tory's had a whole party of people like Baroness Warsi they'd be a credible party.

The coconut picture was what she posted to say congratulations to Marieha Hussain. I found it quite funny but it really did get up the nose of racists.

bombastix · 27/09/2024 08:20

The Tory Party are in so much trouble it’s unreal. They are 1 point ahead of Reform by polling. This actually got worse for them after the election.

Notonthestairs · 27/09/2024 08:26

I confess I know very little about the original court case. I did see Warsi's tweeted congratulations and had no idea what it referred to. The Times hasn't covered Warsi resigning the whip at all (although they have space for multiple articles on the Starmers use of flat however).

But Warsi has been out of step with much of the Conservative party for years. I suspect they will be very pleased to get rid of her. Jenkyns was certainly very quick to put the boot in.

However, I think they overlook a) that much of the public like a moderate Tory and b) what a good communicator she is. And they really don't have too many of either of those left.

DuncinToffee · 27/09/2024 08:26

I read her series of tweets about it yesterday, so many vile comments.

Sky is now calling for Starmer to watch football on tv, hope they aren't offering him Sky sports Confused

I know there’s not much actual news around at the moment - obviously there’s the Middle East on fire but the media doesn’t seem to think that’s important - but surely the PM’s Arsenal tickets are getting old now? Of all his “crimes” this seems the least egregious to me. Are all those critics saying they wouldn’t accept an upgrade on a flight?

DuncinToffee · 27/09/2024 08:38

Starmer probably prefered meeting Trump over yet another question about tickets Wink

BustingBaoBun · 27/09/2024 08:56

I imagine anyone intelligent like Starmer or other leaders, when they meet trump, they have to dial down their brain power and think of it like talking to a slightly stupid 12 year old

CassieMaddox · 27/09/2024 09:16

I wonder if Starmer and Lammy had to try to keep an impassive face while Trump said similar to "Asked about Nigel Farage, the Reform leader, Trump said: “I think Nigel is great, I’ve known him for a long time. He had a great election too, picked up a lot of seats, more seats than he was allowed to have actually. They acknowledged that he won but for some reason you have a strange system over there, you might win them but you don’t get them. Nigel is a fantastic person.”

I bet that was like Fartages best ever wet dream (sorry for lowering the tone)

If Starmer took a boiled sweet from packet offered to him, it would produce outrage from some posters on MN and the Tory media.

But Jenrik accepting £75k from untraceable donation from the BVI is all ok, whilst at the same time Jenrik criticises Starmer.

Now being attacked for meeting Trump but not Harris, totally ignoring the statements from both sides & she is flat out trying to win more than just the popular vote.

Beth Rigby's tweet got community noted, quite embarrassing for a journalist.
