I have a seasonal wreath for the door in autumnal tones, a similar garland for the mantlepiece and a few colourful pumpkins.

Probably a few weeks yet, it's still summer in my garden.

Stunt hedgehog and pineapple GrinGrinGrin

Decorate for Autumn?! What?!!?!?!?! You can just about get me to decorate for Christmas I won't be decorating for anything else. Never heard of decorating for Autumn though?
I despair at this world. Cheap plastic tat that will be in landfill before long half the time.

TheCultureHusks · 01/09/2024 13:35

I’m doing it today, the repainting should be finished but my new pumpkin-coloured sofa and the rest of the furniture won’t come til tomorrow alas

Gingerbread981 · 01/09/2024 13:37

Never heard of this!

bluebee17 · 01/09/2024 13:38

Next week

Yet another thing for already stressed mums to worry that they're not doing properly, by the sound of things.

pizzaHeart · 01/09/2024 13:39

I don’t decorate for autumn (barely coping with Christmas tbh) but I think it depends on the weather where you are and your plans.
It’s autumn around me already
😢😢😢

There is a bit of a delay in the autumn colours this year. I have already ripped out the bathroom suite but my red and gold autumn one won't be here for a while. White is so summery.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 01/09/2024 13:40

I’ve never done this! Outside Christmas lights will go up at the beginning of December and the indoor stuff a few days before Christmas.

September 1st feels like a new year to me so September 1st it all comes out during my clean. I know we're still 21 days away from the equinox but I don't care.

Meadowfinch · 01/09/2024 13:43

I stack the log basket when the temperature drops below 10 degrees at night.

The kitchen has been full of French beans, blackberries and windfall apples for weeks. Batches of home made jam on the worktop.

When the weather breaks, DS will leave his waterproof on the newel post, and my deck shoes will disappear to be replaced by walking boots.

But that's about all. 🤗

TheShellBeach · 01/09/2024 13:44

Decorate what for autumn?
Confused

GrandHighPoohbah · 01/09/2024 13:44

I have about 5 or 6 ornaments on the window sill by my front door. At the moment I'm on summery beach theme, but will swap for my autumn ones at the start of October, depending on the weather. Then Christmas ones in December, then back to summer beach after that as I don't have any more!

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 01/09/2024 13:45

This has just reminded me that I need to change the hat box from summer hats to winter hats and gloves.

That's as far as my autumn decorating goes.

TheShellBeach · 01/09/2024 13:45

I changed two cushion covers yesterday, but that was a coincidence and nothing to do with autumn.

Port1aCastis · 01/09/2024 13:46

I usually decorate my holiday let's (if booked) for Halloween and then Christmas. Haven't got the time money or inclination to decorate anywhere before October.

IggyAce · 01/09/2024 13:47

After my dd birthday so around 25/26 September I just change the coffee table centre and get out the wool throw.

Lemonadeand · 01/09/2024 13:47

I like to put a couple of pumpkins and a marrow on the table around harvest festival time, so late September or early October.

Twofurrycats · 01/09/2024 13:47

22nd September. Decorating might be a bit of a strong term for it though. I just swap the door wreath.

Longhotsummers · 01/09/2024 13:48

I noticed the supermarket homeware section was full of very tacky pumpkin shaped cushions, leaf covered blankets etc. More consumerism, more waste of manufacturing energy and eventually more for the planet to have to try to deal with. I despair.

Great reminder, thanks! Though it's 27 degrees here in London, so I might leave out the sunhats and suncream for a while yet.

Meadowfinch · 01/09/2024 13:48

Sorry OP, we shouldn't take the Mick.

My dm used to have winter curtains and summer curtains, always swapped over in autumn half term and at Easter.

It used to drive me batty. I wasted holiday after holiday up step ladders. 🙄

weAllWanttheBest · 01/09/2024 13:48

well, I just decided to give TEMU a chance and am trialling a little craft kit to see is it going to reach me or am going to be scammed LOL
so if it works and is real business, I am going to buy few golden coloured bits
