Sitting room sounds lovely, Aria. What do you
mean you "turned the dishwasher around"?

I did some good puttering while dc napped! I put the photo collages together for Havoc's picture wall and ordered a few more pics as I was short one for Aug and decided to add a collage of past birthday and "birth" day pics and wrote in Havoc's birthday card. I then got stuck into the hall/linen/everything closet and reorg'd the bins, garbaged some stuff, consolidated like items and re-folded some things. It's much tidier.
😁

What's up with this early cold season? Is everyone on the thread hanging out together????

Aria999 · 12/09/2024 01:17

lol @Mumtobabyhavoc I mean I emptied and refilled it.

Not turned it to face the wall 🤣

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/09/2024 04:23

Aria, I did wonder why... 😂

OP posts:
Peridot1 · 12/09/2024 09:26

Wow. That was a big link.

Aria999 · 12/09/2024 13:55

Wow @Mumtobabyhavoc super productive as always! It amazes me that you get all this stuff done when the kids are with you. My absolute best when the kids are home is sometimes I manage to fold some laundry...

Today is a short day as DS has therapy in the afternoon.

Must put a wash on as he is running out of trousers.

Otherwise need to continue putting away junk from the cellar. Maybe Sisyphus will come and help me when he's done with the rock 😁

Hi all, sorry for radio silence, I’ve been on holiday and had a major elderly parent crisis…😟 unresolved and ongoing really 😢 I’ve sort of caught up with the thread!
The room tour and list sounds a really good idea, and I can engage my dh in that too - atm I’m attacking everything a bit randomly. Today I’ve done an hour with my pt 🏋️‍♀️ and the shopping has arrived and I’ve put all the chilled stuff away, I’ve also identified I need a freezer sort out! And a new notebook to write all this down in.
Cleaner is coming tomorrow so I need to finish unpacking and my son is moving into uni accommodation again but has left a load of stuff that he wants/ doesn’t want, with no clear idea of which is which 😬 Need lunch first tho!

SpiritOfEdna · 12/09/2024 14:25

hello, is it Friday yet? 😄
Today

  • am on dog walking duty, one down, another to go after work
  • tidy another ten things off my desk (It's a wonder I have any space on there, this time the things shoved into the back shelves)
  • afternoon of meetings to get through and then I am sorting through a pile of CDs. I am eyeing the storage space for other stuff
  • bag of books ready to go to tesco bookshelves
  • the dishwasher has been groaning at me all morning - may have to do a handwash (the horror)
  • need to make some more soup AND remember to freeze
That's all for today, have a good one, SoE

Lots of activity here!

I am ironing and my SIL and BIL are coming to visit in about 90 minutes for the weekend. They are staying at an airbnb down the road which saves me from completely panicking, but will be a busy weekend regardless!

New job starts Monday. [wibble]

Hope everyone has a great GREAT day and weekend!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/09/2024 01:57

I'm exhausted reading how busy everyone is! 😅
I managed a ruthless freezer purge yesterday. I had containers +8 mos so all went into bin and also wiped out fridge. Binned a pair of pj's today. Med appt this morning; then out for some fun with Havoc. While dc napped I wrapped Havoc's gift, finished photo collages (added a bit more); did a load of laundry and hung it up.
need to get out for some more errands. Friend coming to town tomorrow and planning to meet up. Feeling a bit frazzled as I just realized it will shift my day re nap / dinner schedule... now will have to send message re same...

Morning, afternoon even! Still not dressed and have been out to pick up SpiritDoggo & sibling from their walk in my pyjamas (how very northern of me 😄) I am interviewing someone later so need to look smart from the waist up in case I need to go on camera 😄
Today

  • get a load of washing on
  • clean the blinds in the bedrooms (am hoping there isn't a shop of horrors of dead flies when the blinds get opened)
  • I can see loads of stuff rolled under the wardrobes - will need to pull that out. Can see SpiritDoggo's decapitated piggy under there. Poor piggy
  • managed to get a last minute place for refpilates tomorrow so I need clean gym kit (am obsessed 😄)
  • need a plan to make the most of the weekend
  • just joined a local gym so I can swim through the winter before work - 7 weeks to big birthday 😄
very happy it's Friday, waiting for laptop off and a walk with SpiritDoggo, have a good one, SoE
Aria999 · 13/09/2024 22:05

Today:

Did DS's virtual psychiatrist appointment

Wiped the surfaces in the living room

Did an impromptu but clearly long overdue vaccine and dust of my office, after I became unable to work due to sneezing

Reviewed our financial year and sent a summary to DH

Aria999 · 13/09/2024 22:19

*vacuum not vaccine. Autocorrect gets a bit carried away sometimes!

RunningKatie · 14/09/2024 08:46

Morning all! It's a sunny Saturday which is so nice. I've got washing to put outside, another load to go on and many jobs to do.
Then the DC are back at their class so I've got a couple of hours in a cafe or wandering around shops in town.
This weekend I'm going to order a spider vacuum, we also need to clear and clean the windowsills as all the locks are being fixed this week.
Hope all the cold germs are under control and everyone has a lovely weekend.

Peridot1 · 14/09/2024 11:59

Morning all.

Lovely sunny day here too @RunningKatie. Wasn’t organised enough to get washing on early enough to put outside though.

Neither DH not I were enthusiastic enough to do much with the new units during the week but I’m determined to get them started today. I did have a go at cleaning but gave up. The glass in the doors needs white spirit or similar to take off adhesive. So that’s today’s number one task. Then cleaning the drawers in the bottom and start putting stuff away. Which will involve bringing boxes down from upstairs.

I also have some courgettes from the garden to use up so am planning courgette and spinach soup and some courgette and feta muffins. Recipes from current Waitrose food magazine. We also have some lovely corn so need to do something with that too.

That may be it for the day.

Have a wonderful Saturday all.

Oh I almost forgot! DS finished his masters in July and has been at home job hunting since. It’s been a bit soul destroying getting rejected by AI constantly although he did get some interviews. He did an interview last week for a job he really wanted and he found out yesterday that he got it. So he is chuffed. He worked really hard on it - had to make an ad reel which he’d never done before. I filmed some of it. DH ‘acted’ in it! (Well held a glass of beer, 😂). And he got the job! So happy for him.

Aria999 · 14/09/2024 12:45

Congrats to your DS @Peridot1 that's awesome!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 15/09/2024 00:08

Lovely news re ds's grad and job Peridot!
How is visiting going SoE?
Nice to have a wander, Running.
Hope ds's appt went well, Aria.

Lazy day here. Ran out for one errand this morning and that's it. Forced naps today as I need quiet. Rained earlier and the sound was so nice. It's 4 and Havoc is still asleep. Baby is blowing raspberries and babbling and just might be drifting off....🤞

eta: sweet cornbread and corn chowder aside from steamed and with butter, are my suggestions for corn. 😋

WinterLobelia · 15/09/2024 05:43

Brilliant news about your DS @Peridot1 !

SingleThreadJoiner · 15/09/2024 21:45

Happy Sunday night! And good luck tomorrow @WinterLobelia ! And congratulations on the son's job @Peridot1 ! And I am too behind with posts to keep track of everyone's great achievements over the past few days!

What's going on here...not much actually. Did all the school uniform laundry today so we definitely have all the bits we need for the week ahead. PE is twice a week now so will need to make sure to keep on top of those bits of kit in particular - on the flipside, only 3 days of normal uniform needed instead!

Went into town yesterday with the D to get her a new schoolbag (as she was still using her nursery one which is WAY too small for books and packed lunches and suchlike) and water bottle, it was successful and not too painful (I mean, the bag she chose is a hideous one from Smiggle, but what can you do).

Trying to get a clear plan for the week ahead, so that I can just start work tomorrow morning with the things that need doing, rather than faffing about.

But off to bed soon I think...

RunningKatie · 16/09/2024 20:38

How was day 1 @WinterLobelia? Hope it went well.
Work's been a bit rubbish, I'd go to bed early but think my mind's just churning so I need to wind down first.
DH has cleared the windowsills in advance of the window fixers coming. I need to give them a good clean, he's also just dumped things on the nearest surface - not always the most helpful.

WinterLobelia · 17/09/2024 07:56

Morning all. Thanks. Day 1 went quite well but I could hardly sleep last night with my mind also churning.

I hope everyone is well and hope to catch up properly later tonight. Thanks

Peridot1 · 17/09/2024 08:52

Morning all.

Thanks for all comment re DS. He’s happy. And so are we! Just waiting for formal offer and info now. Which was supposed to come yesterday.

@WinterLobelia - glad first day went well.

I have been pottering and doing some lists and ticking things off.

Yesterday :

  • made courgette and spinach soup
  • de-cobwebbed kitchen windows
  • washed some glasses from boxes
  • washed shelves in new units
  • re-arranged glasses in new units
  • called BA re changing flights. Turns out I can’t. Which is a pain.
  • did list of what needs doing for living room renovation
  • usual other daily jobs.

Today:

  • usual daily jobs
  • emergency dentist as broke a crown yesterday
  • facial
  • DS washing
  • book flights for DS graduation
  • book hotel for DS graduation
  • email joiner re living room job

Have a good day all.

RunningKatie · 17/09/2024 08:56

Courgette and spinach soup sounds amazing @Peridot1 - have you made it before?
I've cleaned one window, just a few more to do. Keep saying to the dc that they need to make a safe passageway for the men to get to their windows. It's not sunk in yet.
Wfh today - dishwasher on, washing machine on, and it looks to be another sunny day.
Hope everyone is fighting the cold germs.

Peridot1 · 17/09/2024 09:03

@RunningKatie no I haven’t. It’s actually called courgette and basil soup looking at the recipe again but I didn’t have any fresh basil so just used dry. It’s from this month’s Waitrose magazine. I’ll put the recipe up in a bit.

WinterFrog · 17/09/2024 10:08

Hello...sidles back in.....
I have missed you. Just been having a read through of all your posts
