Aria, I called. Anyone can be vaccinated at this clinic. It's private. No need to be a resident or citizen. You just have to pay. I will assume it is the same across the country and at all private clinics. I specifically asked regarding general vaccines and the flu vaccine. Said asking for a friend in the States having trouble getting vaccines there and looking to come here for them.

Aria999 · 28/02/2025 03:56

Thank you @Mumtobabyhavoc that is so kind of you.

They just canceled the planning for next years flu vaccine (choosing which strains to vaccinate against) so it may well be unavailable to all Americans. If that happens I will use this info, you are a star xxx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/02/2025 04:18

Aria, my pleasure. We're watching the news closely here and the bumbling idiot RFK rationalizing the measles outbreak and the death in Texas. I despair.

OP posts:
FourSeasonsLobelia · 28/02/2025 07:17

Loving the vax info from @Mumtobabyhavoc . Daily Projecteers are the best.

As someone with a bunch of autoimmune conditions and with DS1 the same, the appointment of RFK makes me so fearful for all the people negatively affected by his decisions.

I am working a half day today but hope to get back to the room of doom this afternoon. Thanks @Mumtobabyhavoc for the rotisserie chicken idea! I might detour after work and pick one up.

Hope everyone has a great day and our @Peridot1 is enjoying her trip DownUnder!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/02/2025 15:35

Lobelia, yes, scary times down south. People have forgotten what really makes a country a strong. 🤔

The rotisserie chicken (at Costco) is so popular! Eight dollars and there is often a line-up! Like Brits, we're generally pretty good at lining up here. 😂
I buy frozen wild salmon filets, too. I pop them in the oven frozen at 425f with a bit of pesto spread over top and some veg on the tray, naan and hummus or another dip, fruit plate and voila. 😁

OP posts:
FourSeasonsLobelia · 28/02/2025 15:47

Oh Yum!

I used to do that with salmon also- but have not for years now. I'm the only person who eats salmon here so I have a habit of forgetting my own desires. TBH I think that ought to change as i deserve a meal I like as much as anyone else!

I did get a rotisserie chicken and we will have that with a side of macaroni cheese and a green salad. The pasta bit was from the chiller cabinet at Tesco so it really cannot be easier, and I think will go down very well with Dcs. I always do soup on Mondays so will pop leftover chicken in the freezer and have chicken noodle soup.

SpiritOfEdna · 04/03/2025 15:03

Morning

I am feeling ranty this morning 😄 There is MUD everywhere that has been brought in from dog walking in lovely piles shaped like shoe treads. I am blaming the sibling. So mud and never ending washing and I've just noticed I've put way too much water in the shop-bought pancake mix - I didn't notice the handy indicator on the back of the carton.... I've rubbed my eye and got cheesy Wotsits dust in them 😄
Today

  • the chat about the costco chicken has made me check we have chucked out the carcass from Sunday's😄
  • brush up mud
  • buy more pancake mix or go old school and make my own. - have now made my own. Maybe I will pass off as shop bought 😃
  • there is washing to do - almost the weather for hanging it all out though
  • there is still food to put away from Costco trip at the weekend
  • recycling of coffee pods
  • I've walked the dog today, but she will need another one later
  • a work list as long as my arm that I don't have the energy to do
I will crack on with the work list now, have a good day, SoE.
FourSeasonsLobelia · 04/03/2025 15:05

Hiya @SpiritOfEdna you are having a frustrating day. Thanks

I have just about finished tidying the bedrooms and then will go out onto our balcony to do some weeding of pots and the brickwork.

Hope everyone is well! Happy March!!

Peridot1 · 04/03/2025 22:42

Hi all. Thread went a bit quiet. Wondered if you had all left due to the ad blocker/paying to use MN issue.

I am still in Australia. Although I head home on Monday. Had a lovely ten days in New Zealand.

Starting to get ready to head home and I think my packing will be a bit of a challenge as I have bought quite a lot. So today’s task is to start sorting stuff out.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/03/2025 23:35

Hi Peridot! You're having a good holiday! Safe travels home.

Haven't done much here except maintaining. Wiped bathroom floor this morning, thoroughly vacuumed the night before including lifting couch cushions. Have another laundry mountain...

OP posts:
FourSeasonsLobelia · 05/03/2025 04:30

Safe trip @Peridot1 !!

10 days in NZ sound blissful!

Maintaining here too mostly. I have located the bottom of my laundry pile! My motivation though is a bit low. Not sure why. I watched a 'night-time routine for busy family' type youtube vlog last night and that pepped me up a bit.

Onwards and upwards!

FourSeasonsLobelia · 05/03/2025 08:49

Morning again all!

I was up very early so was dressed, breakfasted and bouncing around the house by 6 am- thoroughly annoying the rest of my family!

I have ironed two loads. I mended DS1s tie. I made a cooked breakfast and tried to emulate in a small way the now notorious rainbow fruit platter in Meghan M's new netflix show by making french toast with blueberry happy faces cooked in. (I was VERY awake, but spoiler- it all went into a purple mush).

Now the family has been waved off some time ago and I have made all the beds, washed all the tea towels and medicated the cat.

I'll need a lie down later I think! Going out to see a friend for lunch who is going through a very tough time. Later have an actual scheduled sit-down meeting with DH to discuss life admin - main points to decide if we change our tax accountants (probably yes) and what do we plan to do about moving from the UK (the longer term plan as i probably need to head back to my home country now older parents are getting ever older.). I even made an agenda and sent it to him via our shared calendar. We usually just chat over coffee and in front of the tv and nothing ever gets decided or actioned.

Hope everyone has a great day!

SpiritOfEdna · 05/03/2025 11:22

@Peridot1 - that has flown by! Safe travels home. Am less grumpy today but still mud to battle with and a load of washing on. Going to meet up with an acquaintance today who has a side hustle in framing pictures and I need some bespoke frames as can't seem to find what I need online. The pancakes were delicious and tasted exactly like my mum used to make them. Although mine had ginger, lemon and honey so like a lemsip 😄@FourSeasonsLobelia - the reviews were excoriating, but very funny, I'll swerve that one.
Today

  • goal by end of the week is to have absolutely no clothes queuing up for the washing machine & to have all the clean clothes put away. The floordrobe is real
  • Ironing
  • I need to decide what to make for tea....more pancakes?
  • Just spent a good 20 mins looking for my phone and the washing machine is clunking away - fairly sure phone hasn't had a good wash but who knows. Ok, an hour later I've found it - NOT in the washing machine
  • the hunt for a joiner goes on, the hunt for someone who specialises in small bathrooms goes on 😄
  • My extra job for today is to get some stuff ready for the post office so it is off my desk.
That's all for today, have a good one, SoE
FourSeasonsLobelia · 06/03/2025 16:07

Hi all!

Laughing at lemsip pancakes @SpiritOfEdna !

We had cheese and ham and nutella and they were good.

Today I found myself perusing the surprisingly expensive TESCO hair product and face creams aisle musingly before going home and collecting all the unopened and half used makeup and creams I had lying around. I now have a very very large wicker basket filled with such items and a good two years I think before I need to replace any of them. So saving money and reducing waste.

Our cleaner came and did her magic. I soothed TESCO's hurt feelings vis a vis the lack of unguent purchases by buying some chiller shove in the oven type meals and I am about to put on an early dinner of Southern fried chicken pieces, cauliflower cheese and sweetcorn. The DCs are home about 5.30.

Hope everyone has a lovely evening!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/03/2025 21:04

Took both dc to school this morning. Survived that. Made lunch once back home and vacuumed twice cleaning up after Havoc. 🤦‍♀️

We are in holiday in Arizona. In the desert.

It is snowing.

We have an uncanny ability to bring precipitation to desert places. California stopped having a drought when we lived there and started again after. It rained on us in Death Valley, and in Oman (the first rain for 5 years at the time).

FourSeasonsLobelia · 10/03/2025 05:49

Morning all.

Hope everyone is well!

I have a free and clear day today (barring picking up the DCs late from school) so intend to dedicate it to things like washing all the pet throws and the windows and cleaning the oven etc.

About to make the DCs jam tarts for breakfast and will wave to all for now. Thanks

FourSeasonsLobelia · 10/03/2025 18:01

Evening!

Hope everyone is well and fine.

Tomorrow I plan to do a vintage classic 'Daily Project' and hang up some of the prints and paintings that have been sitting in DS1's room. One of those things that I always intend to get around to and keep putting aside into the 'too hard' basket.

SpiritOfEdna · 11/03/2025 11:52

@FourSeasonsLobelia I love moving prints and art around the house. I've actually taken some with busted frames to a friend who does framing as a side hustle and now am all impatient to get them back as the walls are looking bare. But when you say there's no rush, and there isn't really....but I want them back now 😄
Today

  • measure up all the windows that need replacing and then make sure am sitting down for the quote
  • accumulated a pile of rubbish from my desk and need to get rid
  • been working towards a presentation at work yesterday, it's all done but there's a lot of following up to do
  • hem some lovely new pyjamas - they are red gingham and very summery but I almost fell down the stairs tripping over them yesterday, I am very short 😄
  • I need to do some finance admin today - I've been neglecting everything for the last week or so. Again, sitting down before I check bank balance.
  • I restored and refinished a couple of beds a while back. I keep looking at mine thinking I want to re-do it. I've watched too many furniture flipping reels on Instagram. I'm blaming the arrival of the sun. I'll ponder.
  • Car got a good old clean inside on Sunday - it no longer smells of dog mud or sand so need to get all nice clean car mats back in and the car seat covers for SpiritDoggo and doggie seatbelts.
We are on page 39!!!! Have a good one, SoE -
WinterFrogs · 12/03/2025 07:25

Sidles back in....
Life got the better of me again! I decided sunshine meant summer so had a flurry of gardening and other activity and figured MN was too yesterday. Only then it got cold again, and I came back inside and realised I missed you all, and even missed the chit chat elsewhere on the boards. So much for trying to be less online!
I do have the urge to do a bit of a spring clean though. Daily projecting has kept it down but I think I need to go full on and break out the steamer. And channel my inner @Mumtobabyhavoc and touch up some paintwork.
Have a great day everyone and safe travels, travellers ( had to laugh at the snowy desert!)

Peridot1 · 12/03/2025 08:17

Hello all. I’m back home now. Had a lovely time away. Five weeks was long but I have to say it flew by.

Am still in unpacking mode. Main suitcase will be done today. I definitely came back with way more than I left with!

House needs a good re-set/sort/spring clean. Will tackle it slowly. Very slowly knowing me!

Definitely need to get back to daily lists and an extra job each day. Yesterday I descaled the coffee machine which impressed me as I only got back yesterday. 😇

Today:

Usual dishwasher and kitchen tidy
Clean worktops. They are “DH clean” currently.

Put away laundry I did yesterday
Unpack suitcase.
Do laundry from suitcase.
Put stuff away.
Change towels.

We also seem to have a moth issue again so need to get on top of that. And I noticed this morning that my walk in wardrobe smells for some reason. It did that last year too around the time we had the moths so I assume it’s connected somehow. 🙄That may be first room to get spring cleaned.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 12/03/2025 11:21

Hi @Peridot1 and @WinterFrog and @SpiritOfEdna !

Welcome back @Peridot1 Glad you had a good time.

I am also suckered into internet stuff too often, and need to put a timer ban on myself, never mind the DCs. I really ought to stick to my plan of only being on this thread. It's such a nice thread compared to too many I get engaged by on MN!

Did not do the pictures yesterday as planned. We discovered our water tank has had a slow leak in the loft and yesterday morning woke to plaster down in the ceiling. That combined with a Big Fat Seagull (trademark pending) sitting on our aerial and damaging it which meant no tv so DH and I were out and about a bit getting new cables and antenna and stuff to repair the water tank which has now been done. We will wait for the ceiling to dry a bit then repair that too. DH is a very good handyman and I am a not-so-good sous handywoman so that took the day up.

All of which means i lost interest in pictures and need DH's help anyway and he is out today. But I do need some busted frames repaired also so might take them down to our picture framer.

Hope everyone has a good day. Thanks
