Aria, yes, all is fine here. It was fairly shallow at about 10km, though. Could feel the building rumble and saw things shaking. Lasted about 10s. Definitely the most long-lasting one I've experienced (my 3rd).

Have got a load of whites in the wash getting bleached within an inch of their lives.

Yikes @FourSeasonsLobelia that doesn't sound good! I agree, seeing a doctor asap might be a good idea! Easier said than done though maybe?!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/02/2025 03:39

Chores continue. ...
vacuumed, including moving couches to vacuum under and behind, then under couch cushions (of only one couch).
steam cleaned floors and area rugs then top of couches (didn't take cushions off);
and for my extra: steam cleaned the doors of bedrooms, bathroom and two closets.
Sweating now.
Oh, god... forgot about laundy in the wash. Just heard the chime that it's done. 🤦‍♀️
I think I'm popping out to get ice cream next. I think I've earned it. 😇

Hi all- thanks @Mumtobabyhavoc and @Aria999 yesterday I was totally back to normal so a relief! But I will still mention it to the docotor tomorrow when she rings. I need to be in full working order as a busy week ahead.

Earthquake sounds alarming!! Glad are all okay.

Thanks to all.

SydneyCarton · 23/02/2025 13:17

Very little done here due to half term but I did manage to dig out my woollen jumpers from the depths of the laundry basket and do a wool wash. Timing probably not great as it’s starting to warm up but they should still be needed for the next couple of weeks.

Also DP has put together one of two shoe racks we’ve had hanging around in their boxes for a while, so today’s job will be to get as many pairs of shoes as I can on it!

Aria999 · 23/02/2025 14:06

I like a good shoe rack sort out @SydneyCarton !

Aria999 · 23/02/2025 14:10

Things are dismal here.

My poor DD5 has flu A (since last Thursday in fact though we only just had her tested) and is unable to attend her own birthday party this afternoon.

DH is traveling and not back till Thursday. For some reason the kids always seem to get sick when he is away...

We are overdue a supermarket run as DD has been feverish, I will need to get something delivered but the delivery framework is rubbish here, our local store doesn't deliver to our address so we have to get it from a further away one which has less stuff.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/02/2025 19:06

Oh, no @Aria999 Your poor dd. That is truly devastating for a child, especially with a party all set. Speedy recovery and extra spoiling when well. 🩷

It was so lovely to wKe up and know everything was clean and nothing is pressing to get done today. 😅

Made pancakes with strawberries and sliced bananas for breakfast and a latte for me with a bit of caramel drizzled overtop. I did pop out for ice cream last night and we made sundaes, so the caramel is left over from that. 😛

Aria999 · 24/02/2025 00:27

Sounds perfect @Mumtobabyhavoc 😊

DD cheered up a little as our lovely friend brought lots of presents from the party (we had agreed to do it joint with another girl so it went ahead without us).

I have more or less had it though. Definitely a glass or 2 of wine tonight (held off yesterday in case I needed to get DD to urgent care).

SpiritOfEdna · 24/02/2025 11:49

Playing catch up.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - I thought your visit with mum to her medical appointment with kids would be challenging with a good night's sleep and then there was an earthquake! I thought we had bad weather when we had to walk through a sand storm on the beach with SpiritDoggo yesterday - so cold and windy we were doubled over. SpiritDoggo finally clipped the puppy round the ear to stop him from jumping on her #manners
Today

  • need to get printer hooked up so I can then get to the post office, labels, instructions etc. What a faff
  • floors need cleaning and sofa checking for more sand 😄- hoovered it yesterday but that's no guarantee
  • need to do a swap out of stuff from the shed drill for sanders
  • still not booked an eye test, must do today, maybe tomorrow when I get paid
  • try and get the luminous blue ink that leaked out all over my very pale pink shirt and into the wood grain of my desk, trying not to scrub....
  • gym kit for tomorrow
  • going to move location for a long boring meeting I don't have to contribute to - I will take all my rubbish with me 😄
That's all for today, SoE, have a good one
Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/02/2025 14:32

Spirit, had to laugh a bit. Yes, "challenge" could've been an understatement. 😂
Yikes! to the ink situation. 😵‍💫
I googled this:

Still awake at almost 12:40am here...
Waiting for banana bread to come out of the oven. That was my bright idea to make it at 11:00pm while I waited for a load of laundry.... that I had put on to wash because baby was awake and not showing signs of sleepiness. Baby is asleep now. 🙄

SingleThreadJoiner · 27/02/2025 09:37

flying by - still here, just about - half term trip was lovely but came back straight into mound of work & solo parenting (H at his parents' for the week helping out) - lots of deadlines - much joy because one meeting tomorrow for which I had not prepared has been moved by two weeks - house is a tip and guest coming at the weekend so Something Must Be Done - hugs all around

SingleThreadJoiner · 27/02/2025 09:38

PS @Aria999 covid scuppered our D's 5th birthday party, it was quite sad - though people dropped off presents at the door and picked up a party bag which saved the day somewhat. Much sympathy to her!!

SpiritOfEdna · 27/02/2025 12:36

Havoc - thanks for the tide link - an ink strain remover is on the way.
Today

  • rare luxury of being home alone, so am on dog walking duty for her long walk.
  • post office this afternoon
  • a load of washing with a load drying at the moment
  • need to read the instructions for a foam expander
  • work - need to do goals for the year by tomorrow. Need to plug some in before end of day just so I don't get nagging emails tomorrow. Heavens, one of the goals is to do timesheets every week
  • everywhere I look I can see mud, so brush/mop/hoover on the cards - brushing done
  • buy rust remover to start renovating garden table
Right, must get dog walked, have a good one, SoE
FourSeasonsLobelia · 27/02/2025 12:54

Hi all- cold but gorgeous day out there in Lobelia land! I am about to go for a walk.

Then I plan to get back to sorting out my study / play room / dumping ground of all things random / room of doom.

Making a faked up version of filet of fish for the Dcs tonight. Fish fingers, tartare sauce, brioche bun and plastic cheese. Plus salad and wedges. They are so excited about it. I really need something easy today and have been binge watching youtube videos of 'family meals' lately for ideas as I am in a cooking rut.

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 27/02/2025 12:55

Hope your DD is better now @Aria999 Poor pet missing her party. xx

Aria999 · 27/02/2025 15:47

Thanks!

DD mostly better. Had her first fever free day yesterday. Still has a dramatic cough today so I am keeping her off school. Can't risk inflicting this on other people for the sake of a day or two, much as both of us could use a break from her being stuck at home!

I am a bit better too though still having big bouts of fatigue. I intended to try and reduce her screen time today and do more activities with her but I can't manage it.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 27/02/2025 16:49

@Aria999 FWIW I think you need to allow whatever to get through. If that means more screentime than you are happy with then it's fine for now. Dd has been ill, you are ill and at low ebb. Be gentle with yourself, please. Let your body and emotional motivation be the guide.

Thanks
Aria999 · 27/02/2025 17:29

🥰 thanks @FourSeasonsLobelia

My go to is rotisserie chicken from Costco, croissants/naan, fruit/veggie plate. Saves me every time. 😅

Aria, echoing wise Lobelia. Sorry to hear you got sick, too. It's inevitable, isn't it? I tend to get quite low with the constant illnesses from school or where ever. Then I start fantasizing maniacally about home schooling. (Cause that would be a sane choice, right? I'm certain we'd all survive and not kill one another. ) 😂🤦‍♀️

OP posts:
Aria999 · 27/02/2025 23:16

@Mumtobabyhavoc I think home school would drive me insane, not my thing at all.

Which is perhaps a pity given our delightful government has apparently just cancelled next year's flu vaccine....

Would Canada sell us one if we crossed the border for it?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/02/2025 23:52

What state are you in? Can you not buy it through your gp or at a travel med clinic? 🤔
I know here in BC anyone can go to a travel medical for pretty much any vaccine. Is Ont your adjacent province?

OP posts:
Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/02/2025 23:56

As an example this is a price list for a clinic in BC

eta I'm phoning them now 🤓
