My extra job today was clearing the gutters on the front and back of the garage which were full of leaves. And the ironing of course which was just an ordinary job.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/02/2025 21:57

Oh, Petal - good extra!

Hi from Sydney where it is Monday morning.

Congratulations @WinterFrog. Lovely news.

Waves at everyone else.

Time is flying by here. Just been to Melbourne for a few days where it dropped from 34 degrees on Thursday to 17 on Saturday. Back in Sydney now.

Job today was laundry and walking my friend’s dog. Meeting someone for lunch who DH and I worked with in London in 1987/88. Last saw her in 1991! Lots to catch up on. She knew us both before we started going out together.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/02/2025 22:26

Just spent a couple hours sorting and steaming/wiping/washing toys I didn't intend today.
Lovely (?) neighbour texted to ask if I wanted a few toys and sent pics. I said sure to a few and no to another which was noted as will need to be cleaned. The "no" ended up on my doorstep along with an IKEA bag of toys not in the pics. 😵‍💫😤
I contemplated various messages back, dropping items back with/out note... finally said, F-it and got to work cleaning etc. Now I've got to sort toys for charity this week.... another task. 🤦‍♀️
DC are ecstatic over new toys atm, though.... 🤷‍♀️

I guess I could've posted in AIBU: Is my kind neighbour really a CF? 🤔

😂😂😂

And have now vacuumed. Gave baby corn on the cob and there were bits of corn everywhere.

Have binned a broken exersaucer and some other random/broken toys; wiped the kitchen floor; and wiped the floor under one of the couches as far as I could reach. Unsure why that was easier than using the wet/dry mop. 🤦‍♀️
Did a fridge inventory and am scratching my head wondering why I need to go get groceries already when I spent over $300 shopping just last Thursday. 🤔
Dishwasher is on.

Morning all! You've been a busy bee @Mumtobabyhavoc! My children also loved it when we received big bags of toys ( and clothes) Anything new, it was was 'who's that from?' and quite disappointed if it had come from a shop 😆 Funnily enough I scrubbed and bleached some second hand toys I got for littlests recently, but it never crossed my mind in the 'olden days'. Unless they were obviously dirty.
Great job @petalpower! A proper project.

Glad you're having fun in Australia @Peridot1 😁
I cleaned skirting boards and light switches yesterday. I need to start doing a kitchen cupboard at a time now I think.
And I still haven't made soup!

SpiritOfEdna · 18/02/2025 11:28

my days there's some busy-ness going on here and new babies! I am on red alert for my PT whose 2nd is a week overdue (and just got a message saying baby is on way). I got to the tip at the weekend so the next lot of accumulated rubbish has gone out (although not sure why we were guided to the hard plastics for ceramics...) I took my laptop out yesterday and took it to the cafe near the beach where we walk the dog, so nice to have a change of work scenery.
Today

  • outsourced shredding and cooking to the sibling
  • update finance spreadsheet now the mortgage has gone down by a whole £2.00 😄6 days to payday.
  • I lost a lovely toasty warm scarf last week - am gutted had it for agggggges and now will waste many hours searching online.
  • next watercolour lesson @WinterFrog - I have ideas beyond my abilities in art so I thought I would pick up some proper taught techniques.
  • Just fitted a door stopper
  • Ive cleaned my laptop screen - it was filthy
  • extra jobs for today are cleaning kitchen cabinet doors
  • quick sweep off desk, it's accumulated a lot of art materials.
That's all for now, have a good day, SoE
petalpower · 18/02/2025 15:14

Extra job yesterday was finally booking a boiler service and weeding the vegetable garden. Today’s extra job is going through car paperwork for all our cars - shredding out of date documents and organising the rest into date order. I’ve also been out for my aqua fit session and am now waiting at hospital for my yearly cardiology appointment.
Hope everyone is having a good day and you’ve got a bit of sunshine ☀️

Aria999 · 18/02/2025 16:49

That's frustrating about the toys @Mumtobabyhavoc , why ask you if they are going to ignore the answer!

Today's extra project turned out to be find out why the insinkerator is making a weird rattling noise and make it stop. The culprit was a translucent plastic object shaped like a button 🤷‍♀️

SpiritOfEdna · 18/02/2025 18:39

@Mumtobabyhavoc neighbour is a CF and you would not be unreasonable to dump the dirty toys on their doorstep - I would be fuming, as my GNiece would say

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/02/2025 19:42

Thank you, SoE and Aria! I needed that validation. 😁
So glad I got that off my chest. 😅

But, hold on everybody... Aria. Insinkerator???
Did you make that word up? 😂
Or, is that what we Canadians call a garburator?
(and what the Americans call a garbage disposal?)
I am very intrigued and bemused! 😁

OP posts:
FourSeasonsLobelia · 18/02/2025 19:48

Just checking in and waving weakly from the sickly irritations of a 2 day vomity migraine.

We call it an insinkerator in our house though- FWIW!!

Love to all. Thanks

FourSeasonsLobelia · 18/02/2025 19:48

Oh... and boo to dirty toys.

Aria999 · 18/02/2025 21:11

lol @Mumtobabyhavoc yes garbage disposal, insinkerator is a brand name for one of the most popular ones that we also have. It has the name stamped on the bit round the plug hole that you can see, so I have always called it that!

Glad I am not alone @FourSeasonsLobelia and get better soon ❤️‍🩹

Aria999 · 18/02/2025 21:25

I think I have also finally managed to stop the self-opening drawer from opening itself.... amazing what I can achieve when I don't want to get back to doing the tax return

SpiritOfEdna · 20/02/2025 13:30

It's sooooo cold up in the North West - I've whacked the heating up and am huddled up on the sofa in between meetings. Only got a dog walk to do this afternoon, giving the shredder a rest as it has taken quite the pounding.
Today

  • need to find the soft furnishing book that has the dimensions for a cushion I want to make (I can always improvise 😄)
  • Drove past a mobile car valetter before - need to call to see if they can fit me in - 4 days to pay day
  • find gym kit - got refpilates tonight
  • If i can bear to walk round to the post box, post a letter
  • even in the wintery gloom, the blinds in bedroom are filthy so that will be an extra job for today
  • I seem to have accumulated cups/water bottles/food wrappers from WFH in my bedroom (thankfully no obligation to go on camera here 😄) so will get rid of them
  • book eye test
  • 3 more meetings to go till I can stop for a break (hurrah) lots of organisational change going on, so busy.
  • If I get time, google some bathroom refitters, think I've had this on my list before, but it really needs doing this year. Its a tiny tiny bathroom so storage is an issue
That's all for today, have a good one, SoE
WinterFrog · 21/02/2025 07:18

Morning all! I hope you're feeling better @FourSeasonsLobelia
Excellent work with the guttering @petalpower
My kind of procrastinating @Aria999!
Ambitious list @SpiritOfEdna I am impressed! I am sorry you were cold. Down south we have 12c! It's damp though so not very warm. Had to reset boiler because the heating didn't come on this morning. So that felt unexpectedly chilly.
👋 everyone else 💕
I need to book dental work for self and cat. I also must clean the car of unnecessary grot, and book specsavers to visit mother. And I promised to send my phone number to a couple of her friends as she's not managing communications very well, and they want to arrange to see her. Little things have mounted up round here so need to get onto it all today. And also mop kitchen floor. It's sticky!
Best wishes to all!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/02/2025 11:52

Just scrolling here as cannot get back to sleep. It's 3:50am. Was up with baby at 3am.
Rain has settled in here and it's 6c.
Will be taking my mum to a medical appt today, so that'll mean going as an entourage with dc. Will be challenging, but do-able.
Hello to everyone. 🩷🥱

OP posts:
FourSeasonsLobelia · 21/02/2025 12:34

Hi all. [waves] hope everyone is well. Hope the med appointment with the entourage goes well @Mumtobabyhavoc !

Thanks @WinterFrog I am better but very washed out. I've not been driving though in the past few days (even when recovered) because I keep having vision blackouts for seconds at a time.

Nothing to report here as i have done little. Trying to work out our summer trip with extended family but having some issues aligning scheduling with pets and kennels and family and annual leaves. Hopefully sorted by Monday, fingers crossed.

Love to all. x

WinterFrog · 21/02/2025 13:22

I hope you're asleep and wake up refreshed @Mumtobabyhavoc Best of luck for mum's appointment. For all the reasons 💕
Pleased you're feeling better @FourSeasonsLobelia but 😲 at blackouts. Miserable! Have you had migraines like this before?
I have achieved my itty bitty jobs but still need to mop the floor. Car is empty of rubbish but still contains crumbs, mud and birdseed. A job for tomorrow I think. I have a couple of friends coming round later, but a quick tidy is all that's needed. We are old friends so we've seen one another's best and worst.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 21/02/2025 13:38

Hi @WinterFrog I do get migraines relatively often.... at least annually I will have a bit of a migraine cluster The blackouts are seconds only in one eye but enough to be slightly alarming. I have taken my blood pressure though and it seems okay. I am meant to have a telephone consult with my GP on Monday for blood test results so plan to mention it then if still ongoing. I refuse to drive though while it's an issue - always best to be safe than sorry just in case!

I hope you have a good time with your friends! Thanks

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/02/2025 17:17

Lobeliia, that is very worrying. Have the blackouts happened before? Do you have eye issues? Have you had a head injury? It can be quite serious. Should you see a doctor sooner, perhaps?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/02/2025 00:53

Froggy.... while at my mum's appt, dc and all, we had an earthquake. 😵‍💫
