Oasis tickets

1000 replies

Helplessandheartbroke · 30/08/2024 23:56

So I didn't make the ballot so missed out on the pre sale and I'm angered that viagogo have purchased a load of pre sale tickets and are selling them for 600 quid each! It's a dream to see oasis in Manchester (my home town) and its looking very unlikely unless some miracle happens in the queue for general sale tomorrow... just ranting but please keep your fingers crossed for me

I just checked on Ticketmaster website and we were both wrong….it’s actually 4 per household per show …..so in theory you could have bought loads and still can….it was only capped for the first presale

I wasn't wrong then 😂

Aquarius1234 · 04/09/2024 21:33

I'll try for the Ballot if the prices aren't changed!!

I really thought they'd announce an extra (or a few extra) Ireland dates, they can now totally go fuck themselves 😤😆

Globules · 04/09/2024 22:15

Not just you @Scorchio84

A friend who was unsuccessful trying for Wembley tickets on Saturday has said she's not trying for tickets again for the new dates.

She's fed up of the time of hers that they wasted and the money grabbing dynamic pricing. She doesn't want to be part of it.

Scorchio84 · 04/09/2024 22:21

Ah no way @Globules that's really disappointing, so many bad stories about queing for hours & being thrown out at the end stage of paying, I don't blame your friend at all

Popcorntv · 05/09/2024 06:56

I’m kind of over it too. I like the idea a poster had on Saturday of getting a group together and seeing a tribute act instead! Probably better than the real thing these days anyway 😉

FunkyMonks · 05/09/2024 07:17

I'm not bothering I'm going to keep an eye out for closer to the dates next year when I'm sure there will be many on sale at twickets I can then see if I really want to go or not.
Like most I wasted my time on Saturday trying to get tickets and the while dynamic pricing scandal just hasn't sat right really disgusting and heartbreaking at the same time that soon going to live gigs will become yet another luxury that only the rich can afford or will mean people skipping out on other nice things to be able to afford going.
I love live music always have but even I draw the line to how much I'm willing to pay for possibly 2 hours if that of a show.

FunkyMonks · 05/09/2024 07:21

Also whilst I understand that others need to be paid when these concerts happen I also get annoyed when prices like that sky rocket for pure greed because without the fans bands like oasis and many others wouldn't be sat at home with their millions shame they don't stop to think about how fortunate they are to have fans support and to make sure that crap like this doesn't happen for sake of making more on top of what was already high price before the dynamic pricing crap.

User543211 · 05/09/2024 08:38

If you were in the pre-sale (successful in the ballot) was dynamic pricing used in it?
The NME insta page says it will be an 'invite only ballot' - does that mean not everyone can apply for the ballot? How would they even make that fair?

I was in the presale – no there was no dynamic pricing. Even then tickets ended up being much more expensive than you initially thought when they added on all the rip-off Ticketmaster and other fees.

Pedallleur · 05/09/2024 09:17

Dynamic pricing works on an algorithm that looks how many are online. The parameters can be set however the organiser wants. 1000 online ok, 10000 up the price, 100000 up it some more. If you can slow the process down so the queue gets bigger, the prices will rise quicker

Pedallleur · 05/09/2024 09:18

Chances are Oasis gets a % of the fees so the higher the fees the more money they get.

I don't believe dynamic pricing was used because people would have been aware of it prior to Saturday's sale if it had been.

That's right. It does spoil things though, for them and their fans.

My son will be going with some friends, I don't know which concert. Three or four of them also went to see Noel Gallagher, who was apparently excellent when he appeared at Warwick Castle a few weeks ago - one guy came over from France for it. Most are now in their mid-forties and Oasis featured heavily in their youth. I liked them too.

The investigation will examine whether:

  • Ticketmaster engaged in unfair commercial practices
  • Buyers were given clear information to explain that the tickets could be subject to price rices
  • People were put under pressure to buy tickets within a short period of time

I was in the queue for Cardiff tickets.

When I got through to the ticket page I selected what I wanted and they were unavailable so stopped on for an hour refreshing.

In that time the standing tickets were showing as an option with a price band of £150 to £200 but wasn't available to select. It then disappeared for about 15 minutes and when I refreshed, it came back as premium standing (in demand) for £350 a ticket

Aquarius1234 · 05/09/2024 16:43

Oh I am sure loads of buyers paid more than they had planned too, under pressure and desperate for a ticket.
You then feel awful afterwards I bet, as you have been ripped off!!!!!!!!!!!!
Almost like gambling!

Popcorntv · 05/09/2024 18:03

I know several people who despite having been online for hours didn’t buy the tickets they had in their basket, because of the dynamic pricing making tickets too expensive. If those who did buy tickets now get the difference between the original price and dynamic price refunded there will be a lot of people very cross they didn’t take the plunge (or simply couldn’t afford to). Lose, lose for Oasis and their promoters. Only answer is to refund everyone and start again 😂

Except they won’t do that…..onward and upward ……they will keep on adding dates

They won’t be refunding people.

Dynamic ticket pricing isn’t a new thing, it’s just that the demand isn’t often that high to trigger it, so we don’t hear about it that much.

The competition commission could rule that dynamic pricing is unfair in the future but it won’t change anything for the existing dates.

But tbh I am doubtful the gigs will even go ahead.

Pedallleur · 05/09/2024 18:13

Only way they will refund is at gunpoint. Expect the same pricing structure for the new dates

Aquarius1234 · 05/09/2024 21:04

Do you have to be at the front of the queue to get cheaper prices?
I didn't realise people were logging on before 9am last Saturday. I thought it was 9am onwards.

You could get in the waiting room way earlier

Quick question for those who put their name down for the pre ballot. Did you get a confirmation email ? (Of your entry not the code)
