Oasis tickets

So I didn't make the ballot so missed out on the pre sale and I'm angered that viagogo have purchased a load of pre sale tickets and are selling them for 600 quid each! It's a dream to see oasis in Manchester (my home town) and its looking very unlikely unless some miracle happens in the queue for general sale tomorrow... just ranting but please keep your fingers crossed for me

I've just snagged £65 tix for Murrayfield! Got kicked out and was trying to rejoin the queue for the last hour. Was just watching football results so kept refreshing it in the background. Suddenly got straight back into the booking page. Loads of random seats available and back at their original prices!

Maybe there was an issue and everyone got kicked out?

Got to no.1 in Ticketmaster queue and got stuck with it just buffering and kept asking me to sign in. Error 503 then back to start of first queue! So frustrating.

Exactly the same here!

Let me guess - Ray of Light / Music tour.

I think I paid £80 which was a lot back then. It was ok. I enjoyed it but seen better gigs. It kinda ticked the box.

I suspect what will happen is a lot of people will have bought four tickets for them and their mates. But mates will change minds or not pay up. So a lot of tickets will come back onto the market.

Even I am surprised at the number of people willingly paying £350+ for tickets though. It's stupid money. Who are all these people?! Even for the nostalgia thing, it's silly money.

I can well imagine there's going to be a lot of people who don't have £350 experiences on the night. I can't imagine paying that for a standing ticket right at the back and there being loads of lairy idiots ruining the experience for everyone around them. But perhaps the pricing will focus minds and those who get tickets will be better behaved but I can't see It happening. It wouldn't entirely surprise me if there were security issues with attempts to jump the fence etc at Heaton Park tbh either.

And the trouble is, that face value is no longer face value is it?!

I’m one of those people. I spent the money (albeit on really good seats) because I can and I’m super excited ! 🤷🏼‍♀️

each to their own eh? I wouldn’t pay £50 to see Taylor Swift but I don’t begrudge those who paid hundreds to see her

This happened to us repeatedly, eventually it then quicker us out and made us rejoin the queue which we haven't bothered doing.

I guess you could keep trying to see if there a chance that it works but we ended up getting so pissed off with it all. The pricing is outrageous!

When you are selecting seats there will be a bunch of other people doing the same. It's fastest fingers first. So they may grey out, but equally others may also appear if someone doesn't buy them quick enough. It's pot luck.

That's fair enough. I LOVE Oasis but that is still too much. You could go and see them in the US for some of the prices people are paying even with us ticket prices, hotels and flights. And make a holiday out of it. I hope you have a good time to justify it. Very genuinely. I have paid up to £250 for tickets in the past for special shows - £350 for a bog standard ticket? Nope. No show is that good. If I could relive any gig I've ever been to, I think there's about two or three I'd pay that kind of money for.

It's got ridiculous.

bendmeoverbackwards · 31/08/2024 16:41

This is 2024 and we have all the technology. There must be a better method for buying tickets surely??

RedToothBrush · 31/08/2024 16:41

I do think there's a bunch of very disappointed fans who haven't got tickets today who need this kind of reality check too btw.

Ballot and batch system. Alloted time slots for tickets according to your batch number.

bendmeoverbackwards · 31/08/2024 16:44

Yes good idea @RedToothBrush It’s like making people ring their GP at 8.30am, of course you’re not going to get through!

RedToothBrush · 31/08/2024 16:46

If everyone who applied for the ballot had been given a batch slot, it'd been massively fairer and lots less pressure on servers. They could have run the ballot for a bit longer too. No waiting for hours only to get booted by a technical error.

DonkeyyDoo · 31/08/2024 16:47

I got 2 tickets and very excited

Aquarius1234 · 31/08/2024 16:48

Are Oasis even decent live??? Lol
If the original CDs sound better I'll go on Amazon and get the albums and a CD player..

RedToothBrush · 31/08/2024 16:49

If they wanted to raise prices they could do so more transparently with a batch system too. They won't do that because the whole point is the high pressure of waiting for hours and having to then make a decision in a short space of time (I'd argue this actually is illegal under high pressure sales techniques tbh).

There's a lot of people blaming Ticketmaster for the price change but it's really the band themselves to blame. It is ultimately up to them to do it.

Aquarius1234 · 31/08/2024 16:50

Finally in and can't see any tickets. Keep flashing then all grey. 5 hours later..
I think tickets should be either £80 or £140 for the higher tier. Nothing else.

I would say they were a very tight and very good band. Few were better in terms of musical ability live, back in the day.

It tended to depend later on, on what mood Liam was in and how well he'd been looking after his vocals.

Listening to his performance at Reading a couple of weeks ago, he's singing better than he did at some of the later shows.

You also want a certain amount of banter between him and Noel and with the crowd. That's harder with the biggest venues.

The final ingredient how the crowd react. If it's a rough crowd or a very drunk crowd it won't be fun. If it's an excited crowd who WANT to be there and want to enjoy it, it's good. Then at the other end of the scale you have the joyless 'impress me I deserve my money's worth' end of the crowd. Who ruin it as much as the drunks because they tell you to stop singing or dancing (particularly in the seats).

Oh and the weather. The last night at Heaton park could be particularly awful. Imagine if we have a wet July. The site - particularly around the entrances and exits will have to be well done and Heaton park has had issues before with the weather. Great if it's sunny and warm. But wet and miserable. At £350 a ticket. At the back.

Hmmm.

Reality check time.

RedToothBrush · 31/08/2024 17:01

I actually understand paying £600 for a covered seat to see Taylor Swift, a lot more than £350 for a standing ticket at Heaton Park.

And I don't even like Taylor Swift and I love Oasis!!!!

Musically I expect Oasis to be probably as good as they've ever been (the musicians Noel and Liam have playing with them are exceptional) Liam's vocals are your wildcard and yeah I think he's better than he's been in a long time. Noel is Noel. I hope the three song acoustic set returns for you all.

SpanielPaws · 31/08/2024 17:07

I gave up after I got booted out 3 times, and I'd had a window open since 6.05 am (thanks to the bloody dog barking). I would advise to watch on Twickets as we have got several on there lately. There will be all sorts of reasons why people can't attend in a year's time. Ticketmaster really needs to up its game in terms of investment into servers.

YogaForDummies · 31/08/2024 17:13

I can understand queueing for ages if you're a big fan or are simply excited by the nostalgia aspect/ the special atmosphere that might be there on thr dates but the inflated face value prices are shocking. People are being treated like complete mugs.

whowhatwhen · 31/08/2024 17:15

Four of us trying for eight hours.

Multiple kick outs due to suspicious browser activity (of which there was none).

Got through to seat selection a few times, spinny wheel of death on trying to check out, time out in our 'purchase window'.

Eventually got four tickets for Heaton Park at £355 a piece.

Ridiculous.

Onyoupop · 31/08/2024 17:16

Im in the queue for one of the Murrayfield dates with 474 people in front of me. Not holding out much hope though.

Quacking4it · 31/08/2024 17:17

Got in for 3rs Aug at Wembley and nothing left

Ooo ouch. At that point it's almost a badge of honour to sit it out to the bitter end just to not get tickets!

Hope you get lucky.

Thursdaygirl · 31/08/2024 17:23

I don’t think anyone else is going to be lucky today

Onyoupop · 31/08/2024 17:23

I got in finally and there is nothing 😞 What a waste of a day!

TheFifthTellytubby · 31/08/2024 17:24

I don't understand how, if tickets are limited to 4 per person, the resellers are able to bypass the system and buy hundreds?
