My rather splendid female spider has today eaten her mate.

I am a little sad, they have been sharing a web for the last couple of weeks, I was beginning to think they had a Understanding . But alas, today Mr spider is no more.

For reference they are not pets, rather squatters that inhabit my ceiling.

Eat The Rich, serving them with the side of all the men that annoy me.

What are spiders rich in?

Demonhunter · 19/07/2024 08:55

Must say, I was a little relieved when I opened thread 😰

As Rudyard Kipling once said, "the female of the species is more deadly than the male".

BeethovenNinth · 19/07/2024 08:57

This is a lesson learnt for all annoying men.

I might eat my husband today.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 19/07/2024 08:59

Incey wincey spider
Was tired of putting out
Down came Lorraine
And kicked the bastard out
Out came the Mumsnet
And apportioned all the blame
When Incey Wincey spider was never seen again

He probably didn’t do his share of the web, and instead of LTB, she ATB.

🤣🤣🤣

So sorry for your (her) loss.

His loss? 🤢😂

Well many spiders do this thing where the male's 'penis' breaks off inside her 'vagina' and stays there doing its thing... so she'll have something nice to remember him by :)

Does that mean the female spider now has a cocklodger?

Silviasilvertoes · 19/07/2024 09:01

I needed this thread today. Not sure I want to EatTB but it’s spot on otherwise.

Well they eat tarantulas in parts of the world. I’d be vegetarian. Vegan.

Clafoutie · 19/07/2024 09:02

This thread is wonderful! ( even though I am irrationally afraid of spiders). I wish there were more fun threads like this on MN. Thank you for cheering my day OP 😀

This made me laugh out loud!

Sadly, if any sign of baby spiders Henry will be enlisted. I'm progressive, but There Are Limits.

That's the spirit. A couple of years in the Army. Never did me any harm Grin

Crying!

Took me a a few seconds!!

Great thread!!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 19/07/2024 09:04

Brilliant 😂

I was in our loft office room building dh a chair and a massive house spider ran down the wall at me. Like actually went for me. When I told dh he said “oh yeh that’s Bruce, he is a dick but I love feeding him flies and watching him eat. He’s getting so big. He must have thought you an intruder.” 😅

Silviasilvertoes · 19/07/2024 09:04

It does make you wonder whether MNet is too lenient with the LTB advice.

That would be the end of my marriage. And probably my sanity. I would never set foot in there again.

velvetcoat · 19/07/2024 09:06

She's a strong independent spider who dont need no man.

Good for her.

Incakewetrust · 19/07/2024 09:06

@Sethera "eat the bastard" will now be my mantra

camelofdestiny · 19/07/2024 09:08

I feel like my husband would be really tough and chewy to eat, no idea why. Kinda like ostrich meat.

Maybe gravy would help?

I really couldn't manage mine in one sitting. Must be at least 10 days worth there. Longer if I want some variety and vegetables in my diet. How long did it take Mrs Spider to consume Mr Spider?

Mine as well do you think they freeze and we could have a nice bottle of chianti.

@TheLastTrainForTheCoast they are teeny tiny little things....
Literally a millimeter. We had a nest outside on the parasol and it was actually fascinating to watch them launch....

aw like Charlotte's Web. I loved that story.

lcakethereforeIam · 19/07/2024 09:12

Perhaps there are recipes? Have you checked the web?

Marblessolveeverything · 19/07/2024 09:13

Aw lads this thread really shook off a sad day yesterday so thank you @TheLastTrainForTheCoast .

I woke this morning laughing, having dreamt of Ms spider a la Beyonce singing "all the single spiders" . Sometimes this place is pure therapy.. Have a good day everyone.

NonPlayerCharacter · 19/07/2024 09:17

I told her to LTB. I guess she thought this was preferable.

shellyleppard · 19/07/2024 09:20

@Marblessolveeverything hope you have a good day too 🕷️💐💕

M103 · 19/07/2024 09:20
