She should have stuck to shopping at John Lewis, better stock by far.

Suella Braverman tonight declaring the election battle “over” and the fight starting to save the Conservatives from extinction is another blow for Sunak and the Tories.

It’s all kicking off.

1 in, 1 out system for PRISONS.
They've broken the justice system.

Years of warnings. Lengthen sentences and fail to build prisons and this is what you get.

1 in, 1 out. How bloody ridiculous is that?

It's unsafe for staff & inmates.

"Exclusive: New emergency measures to tackle prison overcrowding are being considered as Britain’s jails approach zero capacity

Operation Brinker could be triggered for the first time in history to bring out a "one-in, one out" system for inmates

Operation Brinker would see inmates driven in secure vans around the country to be transferred to free cells, with officials monitoring national data on capacity to ensure every possible space is being used

It will start if the prison population gets even closer to capacity

Early release measures, started in October and expanded to 70 days in May, are being exhausted

Brinker would be on top of previous contingencies Operation Safeguard and Operation Early Dawn, which involves holding inmates in police cells and taking them to court from there"

This article is showing the Tories have zero seats that are safe or very probable wins

😱

I starting to think something has to go wrong
Imagine if they just end up with a completely random bunch of MPs with little experience

How every constituency will actually vote, mapped according to the latest polls

All you need to know about the pollsters' flagship MRP surveys - and how much you can rely on them

Gove has a good sense of self preservation; the Tory Canary in the mine. Once he stood down then you knew they had huge problems.

Anyway he is right - the campaign and the fear mongering have made it worse for the Tories.

Ah Suella. Always one of the first to kick off. She did this just before Boris resigned on Peston.

bombastix · 02/07/2024 23:37

It is all looking very disloyal. There will be a lot of recrimination on election night.

Been thinking on and off for a few days how strange it is that you barely hear about Northern Ireland in general elections unless you live there. And then on election night/the next day etc they're treated as almost a curiosity.

And since the Northern Ireland Agreement it's even less mentioned

There was a case in Germany some time in the last twelve months where the British government were denied an extradition request because the British prison system wasn't fit for purpose. Unbelievable.

Looks like a rich homeowner, standing in front of a house, smugly looking at an avocado.
Caption should be "I never had these when I was growing up, which is why I now own 12 houses"

Notonthestairs · 03/07/2024 07:00

@TomPinch that's shocking.

Labour obviously are not going to be able to magic up prison places overnight - the process for planning a prison I imagine takes more than a few months!

So in the meantime they will either have to continue to release prisoners OR nobody is sent to prison.

For months.

It should be headline news.

It's here! Happy election eve to those who celebrate! 🥳🎉🍾

Collecting my ballot box at 12!

Today's hope is that the Tories can be squeezed out into third place, I think it just might happen...

Notonthestairs · 03/07/2024 07:05

I must say my Twitter feed is fucked.

Hundreds of odd looking accounts saying "I don't know anyone voting Labour" or "I asked everyone in a cafe who they are voting for and they said Reform"
Lots of randoms claiming the polls are corrupt etc. Remarkable bot work.

Romeiswheretheheartis · 03/07/2024 07:11

Just heard them say on the news that Rishi is going to be highlighting today that Labour will 'take a sledgehammer to most of what the Tories have achieved' - which is exactly what most of us want, I would have thought?! He might as well be wearing a red rosette when he's saying it.....

TheInvisibleMann · 03/07/2024 07:12

I've definitely noted the Reform bots going into overdrive over the last couple of days. The one about the cafe was so transparent. I'm waiting for the Trumpist claims of rigged votes on Friday now.

Can anyone come up with a witty and disparaging name for my mates’ Election Night WhatsApp? We’ve suggested Paddy Ashdown’s Hat after his infamous comment about exit polls. The Fall of the House of Tory but it seems to tempt fate. Larry’s Latest Rescue. None of them quite seem witty enough. We all went to a university where the 5 a side team names would get me a ban if I typed them, so the bar is high.

Completely off topic but I want to know what you named the football team 😂😂

For the what's app how about

C U nialated Tory's 😉

user8800 · 03/07/2024 07:35

Happy election eve!

I am loving the fall of the house of tory 👏
