I was going to try GB News for the first time to watch Boris Johnson. But I just have this feeling he will not make it in election night.

newnamethanks · 26/06/2024 09:45

Shudder! One for the team @bombastix. A brave decision.

bombastix · 26/06/2024 09:48

I don’t think he can do it @newnamethanks because it will not be all about him. It will be about Nigel Farage! I would think watching Boris Johnson forced to comment on the Farage phenomenon would be very funny. I think they despise each other.

BestIsWest · 26/06/2024 09:50

Just reading that Alastair Campbell is thinking of going on GB News - he was asking listeners on TRIP yesterday if he should. I might steel myself to watch.

FFS Channel 4 have signed Dorries for election night, why!?

No way! So LK on BBC 1, Dorries on 4 - what to do?

TooBigForMyBoots · 26/06/2024 10:10

I'll be flicking back and forth to kGB news with or without Boris. It's entertaining to see their take on things.Grin

From LBC

BREAKING: The Met has arrested someone in relation to Westminster Honeytrap Scandal. A man was arrested on suspicion of harassment and committing offences under the Online Safety Act. He was taken into custody where he remains.

William Wragg handing over colleagues telephone numbers and Charlie/Abi harrassing MPs seems like it was a million years (scandals) ago - it was only April!

SerendipityJane · 26/06/2024 11:13

Incidentally, assuming Farage/Reform get less than 52% of the vote, is UK politics OK to completely ignore anything they have to say for the next five years ? We might need a slogan. How about "We won, get over it snowflake" as we make sure they never appear on TV or get any news coverage and are aggressively attacked in all media.

Thanks to S. Nige, we know how to treat losers.

mibbelucieachwell · 26/06/2024 11:33

A journo on the beeb last night made the point that Nigel Farage appeared to cost the leave Eu campaign popularity. Every time he spoke support for Brexit lost about 3 points in the polls.

What a dilemma for the telly coverage indeed. How disappointing.

In other news DS has still not received his postal vote. 😬

SerendipityJane · 26/06/2024 11:41

I recently posted a clip of the NYNOCN team doing a musical skit about Moseley. Made current recently by a rather jumping-the-shark "Peaky Blinders".

The problem is my DGM and DGF and great aunt all remembered Moseley as an absolute joke who rather got up himself. Which you probably wouldn't pick up from the documentary evidence that remains, which is the Daily Mails tongue exploring his arsehole and a rather fruity wife.

Thank goodness it seems a far cry from the days when Farage was going to be the next UK ambassador to the US

Here's David Owen being wrong again

Nigel Farage could be ambassador to US if Trump wins, says ex-foreign secretary

Radical idea ‘not totally outrageous’ says David Owen, as UK concern grows about second Trump presidency

Talking of Clacton, did anyone see that the stylish young Labour man has basically vanished from sight? A past Tweet was found which upset some people and the belief is that he has now been hidden away from view.

Silencing more Black Labour politicians is not perhaps the best look.

There is very little canvassing from him by the looks of his Twitter feed. But then again with Farage stirring things up, maybe it is not safe for him?

What did he say?

What did he say?

Years ago as a teenager he made a joke about ‘white men’s tears’ being his favourite drink. It’s nuts to criticise him for it. I’ve read at least one interview with him talking about it though so he wasn’t immediately silenced.

Oh dear. It does seem unfair due to his age at the time of the comment. But politics is not fair, so I think that’s an end to him in Clacton.

I really hope not. I hope he’s right when he says the racists in Clacton are a very vocal minority.

Edited

"The Labour candidate said he had received online abuse after the tweet was shared widely. “I've had people use words… I don't know whether they believe it or not, but they're saying it and they feel empowered to say it – to call me the N word, to say the P word.” "

So maybe it really isn't safe for Jovan to be on the streets in Clacton?

Looks like there's another reason the people who voted Tory last time won't be again. I somehow doubt they'll vote Libs or Green to actually do anything about it though... Some very real "Boris said we wouldn't have to sell our homes to pay for care" incredulity.

Unfortunately, I saw some of these abusive Tweets . They were horrifying.

Since the betting allegations first emerged, the conduct of government has become the second most important issue for voters behind the cost of living crisis, the poll found.

https://www.reuters.com/world/uk/uk-conservatives-suffer-fall-support-after-betting-scandal-2024-06-26

I know there has been a lot of ire directed by the entrenched Tory voters at the undisguised glee some are showing at the annihilation of their fig leaf fiction party. However this would ignore the fact that at every step of the way, Tory detractors have faithfully and selflessly pointed out why the Tories are toast.

Notice the lack of the electorates interest in: Rwanda, immigration, asylum, Kiers beer. Angela Rayner, national service, Covid vaccines, Brexit, trade deals to sell snow to Alaska. All of which could have been discovered by not fiddling all the polls you run.

Well it’s not fair but it’s politically poor judgment. It does seem harsh because he was a teenager. But if you are in politics you can’t say things like this unless you accept that it is divisive. People should not be racist to him obviously, but they won’t be prepared to get into the nuances of age and inexperience.
