Good morning . Thank you again @DuncinToffee

Peonies in lieu of cats. Wafting their scent to my fellow Scottish mum setters.

I hope poppy tax is OK?

That’s like a Georgia O’Keefe painting come to life. Beautiful 🤩

Just shared a message on the old thread by mistake, but thought everyone would enjoy the hat I saw at the music festival I was at over the weekend

Nick Ferrari: How many people are currently on the Bibby Stockholm?

James Cleverly(Home Secretary): I've no idea. 🤦

Well, he’s only the Home Secretary, of course he doesn’t know.

EXCL - In just days, public will be at risk because prisons will run out of space, says PGA Prisons
In letter addressed to main party leaders & expected to be published later, it says criminal justice system will “grind to halt” - with no room for police & courts to put suspects & criminals, meaning dangerous ppl will be on streets. Comes as officials in MoJ tell me there have been conversations btw officials & ministers about invoking Civil Contingencies Act which would give ministers more powers in emergency such as releasing ppl early.

I bet they delay doing anything. I can't imagine them risking drawing attention to the sheer mismanagement. New prisons should have been built years ago. Labour should have tackled this too - nevertheless it's been 14 years of dodging this issue (saving money and fear of the NIMBYs).
Party before country.

That especially hurts as I can see where many millions lot of that money has been spent on a personal vanity project.

BestIsWest · 25/06/2024 10:38

I see Craig Williams and Laura Saunders have now been suspended from the Tory party. But presumably remain on the ballot papers with Conservative next to their names as postal ballots have gone out and even returned.

Cheguevarahamster · 25/06/2024 10:41

About time.

The Conservative Party have withdrawn support for Craig Williams and Laura Saunders

SerendipityJane · 25/06/2024 10:46

Just repeating my suggestion from last thread that a very public "You fix it or we will" from Starmer over the betting story would be a popular move (not with the tory media, obviously) on the ground. That's what I would expect from an incoming administration. Especially one that is going to carry the can for the sins of the past few billions of years. Mass extinction ? Dinosaurs ? Corbyn was there, you know.

Morning all. Thank you for the new thread, Duncin. No cat tax from me today, but I do have this gem from Sunak's FB page.🤬🤬🤬

Sounds like a grand Roman Imperial plan. Which emperor walked across the bay of Naples on a pontoon of boats ? Caligula ?

I love the rather drug-induced picture the Mail is trying to paint of asylagrants all sitting around playing boules just waiting for July the 5th. I guess it really is true, the devil finds work for empty minds.

Can one make boats out of tinfoil?

MissMarplesNiece · 25/06/2024 11:05

@Spandauer He doesn't say any "human" words but he makes a noise that sounds like Sweep out of Sooty & Sweep. I think you can train them to repeat words with lots of patience. Which reminds me of this story, which I love. The thought of 100 swearing parrots is quite something.

Bigcoatlady · 25/06/2024 11:15

I cannot get a photo of arsehole dog atm as she stole a whole plate of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies off the side and is currently a border collie on a sugar high on a hot day. Basically behaving like I will be on election night. Right little raver this one.

MissMarplesNiece · 25/06/2024 11:32

Oh, I forgot to post the link - it is basically parrots in a wildlife park who were teaching each other to swear. The crazy thing was that they were adding to their swearing - i think it started with one rescue parrot shouting "you bastard" at its keeper but then the birds started shouting , (without anyone teaching them) "you fat bastard" everytime they saw the keeper. They're very clever birds, cleverer than the average Tory politician.

That's old style intelligence, none of this new fangled "AI" nonsense.
