Moving on, will a Labour majority that no longer needs Scottish votes in parliament change the landscape somewhat ? My memory is the last Labour government ended up vulnerable to accusations of Scotland running England (Hence David Camerons practice swing at the British Constitution by kneecapping parliament).

Will a weakened Scottish influence have an effect on their ceaseless search for the hero inside of themselves ?

He’s gone very, very quiet, hasn’t he? Suspiciously so. It makes me feel uneasy.

Same!

Looks like the Government have postponed releasing information relating to the backlogs in the Courts.

As with the refusal to publish advice relating to the cuts to UC, the Government will do anything to avoid scrutiny.

I see FWR have noticed MNHQ have some questions for the Rishster.

And re IHT, just to be clear, even if the spouse died many years before, it still gets added to the recently deceased person's estate.

My mum died in 2012 and my dad last year Sad; the house was valued at £450k and the rest of the estate is worth nowhere near £550k so there will be no IHT payable.

Barring a few small bequests, it's been left to db and me, with a small proportion to the grandchildren. I'd still rather have my dad around Sad

Yes @prettybird my house is inherited from my mum and I feel the same way. If I go early I sadly think DD would have to sell it to pay IHT as it has increased in value and I have never been married.

HMRC figures out today show most pensioners now pay income tax

Up 2m since 2020 to 8.5m. Awkward for Sunak as he makes threat of Labour "retirement tax" central to his campaign

Quite a lot of caveats to his promise of no pensioners paying income tax

Conservative candidate Philip Davies bet £8,000 against himself winning in the general election

Davies is a darling of the gambling industry and has been previously investigated for his links to it. Look at his wiki bio under Parliamentary Career; Gambling Industry.

Was just thinking the same, not like Farage to miss the opportunity of sounding off.
our lead campaign organiser has also been seconded to the West Midlands, the official blurb was that we are doing so well with canvassing etc that she could be spared, all very strange.

Apparently he also selflessly spoke for 90 minutes to ensure carers did not get free parking at hospitals.

@Notonthestairs wow! If I've read that right, there's been a huge rise in the total number of taxpayers at the higher rate (more than doubled) and the number of taxpayers 65+ has nearly doubled!
Clearly the party of lower taxes🤥

One voice from each of the 4 biggest parties again on QT tonight. Farage must be spitting sawdust.

Maybe it's a bank holiday in Russia ?

Yes, I think I mentioned last month no one seems to want to talk about them being the highest tax payers...

That is odd. What is going on in West Midlands that needs extra Labour bodies?

Reform UK are on the electorate papers. I've already voted via post. Labour.

So no deal can now be done. Perhaps he's doing a Jeffrey Barnard is unwell?

They just keep getting worse!

lovely couple

Esther McVey, who was appointed “minister for common sense” last year, has received £39,000 in taxpayers’ money to rent the flat over the last two years. She lives there with her husband, the Tory MP Philip Davies.

The Daily Telegraph, which first reported the story alongside the campaign group Led By Donkeys, said McVey and Davies had been claiming expenses on the property since 2017 and could have received as much as £250,000 from the taxpayer.
Davies owns and lets out a flat about 25 minutes’ walk away in Waterloo. In his register of interests, Davies has declared an annual income of more than £10,000 from this property.

Farage is in County Durham at the moment, whipping up the deluded.

Tory donor and former Newcastle United owner Sir John Hall has defected to Reform UK.

He’s at Nigel Farage’s Wearside rally this lunchtime.

Sir John has donated more than £500,000 to the Tories and helped fund Theresa May’s 2017 election.

McVey is most vociferous when it comes to spending tax payers money 🧐. Yet it's clear that she and her husband have no qualms at all about getting tax payers to pay for their living expenses. Hypocrites the pair of them. Has echoes of Ann and Nicholas Winterton in adjacent Congleton, pre 2010.
