I know many of us are especially interested in health and inequalities.

Here is a link tot he Health Equals Campaign, led by Sir Michael Marmot

https://healthequals.org.uk/make-health-equal/

You can email your candidates from this website.

Heal Equals - #MakeHealthEqual

We travelled the UK to meet the next generation at risk of poor health and shorter lives, and brought them to London with one ask: to #MakeHealthEqual.

So today the Tories have fallen out with Martin Lewis and David Tennant. Who next, Judy Dench and Mary Berry?

It's like they're trying to make themselves ever more unpopular.

Zonder · 26/06/2024 16:03

This made me laugh on twitter.

Maybe it's a cue for Farage to go for Princess Di ...

Maybe I was put here to be the voice of the 80s ? Alexei Sayle had a routine about all the working class revolutionaries of Stoke Newington rejecting the arguments of Jean Paul Sartre based on his lack of grasp of the local culture ..

Jean Paul Sartre was a very clever man.
As a thinker there was no one keener.
But the all hate, round our way.
'Coz he know fuck all about the Cortina.
....
(segues into "'allo John Gotta New Motor")

Yeah, but he wasn't in Clacton when he said it and I think everyone thought he was working really hard to get to know Clacton (more than Nige was), including meeting Nigel and shaking his hand.

I'm sensing party discipline is wearing a little thin from my local CLP. The chair has started sending pass-agg emails. Carrying that Ming vase is starting to cause neck and back pain I reckon.

One more week and we can get back to normal red on red infighting comrades.

bombastix · 26/06/2024 16:08

Light relief on planet relatively normal….

Sir Keir Starmer was told he looked “younger in person” as the Labour leader and Wes Streeting met patients at Long Lane Surgery GP practice in Coalville in the East Midlands today.
“Ooh, this is a surprise,” one exclaimed as the Labour leader and shadow health secretary walked over to sit with them in the surgery’s sunny courtyard.
“You look younger in person,” one patient said to Sir Keir. “You do,” another agreed.
“That’s the right way round,” Sir Keir said. Mr Streeting asked: “How much have you paid these people?”

Well it’s not fair but it’s politically poor judgment. It does seem harsh because he was a teenager. But if you are in politics you can’t say things like this unless you accept that it is divisive. People should not be racist to him obviously, but they won’t be prepared to get into the nuances of age and inexperience.

He wasn’t in politics when he said it…

NoDishiForRishi · 26/06/2024 16:26

Do you think Martin Lewis misses those halcyon days when all he did was bob up on this morning every now and then and remind people to change their broadband providers?

itsgettingweird · 26/06/2024 16:35

Our local Labour leader as put a post on and mentioned she is the only one of the candidates who lives in our constituency.

It's joined with another and we've lost half our area to another one iyswim?

Loads of replies - we are voting reform. How can you live in 2 places.

Lab councillor has repeatedly said which of the 2 she lives in as joined. Very open.

Get more responses "reform is the way to go - more about having 2 houses"

Making me LOL that a) the reform candidate is a taxi driver that lives and works in the adjacent city and b) they keep saying they want control of the boarders but can't undertrained something as simple as people living within a constituency boarder 🤦‍♀️

And cross because I can't believe people in my town are so bigoted that Braverman isn't big hits enough for them - fuckers Angry

True.

Wes Streeting said far worse things on Twitter when a) he wasn't a teenager and b) he was in politics.

They also haven't read Reform Ltd's "contract" which pledges to keep immigration at current levels.

Vorders seems to love being Countdown free.

Extraordinary that with his party's political future hanging in the balance, Sunak actually thinks it's worth using his time to pick a fight with an actor. Even weirder when it relates to Badenoch, who Sunak apparently thinks was a pretty useless Minister.

VimtoVimto · 26/06/2024 17:13

Apparently Farage is scared to campaign in Scotland according to Richard Tice.

Maybe he thinks that Dr. Who is a real doctor and therefore worthy of contempt ?

And yet there was a subset of Scottish voters who voted both for independence and Brexit. It's not fully aligned with the SNP take.

Heard on R4 today that N Ireland may go more to Sinn Fein as everyone seems exasperated by DUP post Brexit and boarders etc. I've not heard much about their polls at all but it's an interesting turn around if so? Anyone here know more?
