The communist movement is historically quite conservative on both women's rights and gay rights,

Generally they have an unhealthy fascination with property.

I've always taken that fascists view the citizen as subservient to the state. And so do communists. Which is why it's amusing to see the FWR mob prostrating themselves at the altar of a philosophy that has no regards for the individual.

Piggywaspushed · 23/06/2024 15:47

The one Communist Party member I know has autism and some deep seated mental struggles. He's very trans inclusive and hates Rowling!

IClaudine · 23/06/2024 15:48

I think this is why JKR is recommending the Communist Party.

https://www.communistparty.org.uk/the-gender-recognition-bill-and-equality-law/

•The Communist Party is the only political party with a coherent political analysis of sex and gender. Gender as an ideological construct should not be confused or conflated with the material reality of biological sex. Gender is the vehicle through which misogyny is enacted and normalised. Gender identity ideology is well- suited to the needs of the capitalist class, focusing as it does on individual as opposed to collective rights, enabling and supporting the super-exploitation of women.

•For these reasons, the Communist Party rejects gender self-ID as the basis for sex- based entitlements in law to women’s single-sex rights, spaces and facilities. The Party will continue to oppose any proposed legislation – whether at Scottish, Welsh or British level – that seeks to enact such a provision.

I don’t think they’ve noticed the Communist tweet yet. Hopefully someone (braver than me) will point it out to them soon.

MNHQ has hidden the questions for Sunak thread. I wonder why?

Saucery · 23/06/2024 16:06

I completely agree with the CP take on biological sex v gender roles, but no way on earth would I vote for them!

bombastix · 23/06/2024 16:06

It would certainly be beyond weird if FWR which has been celebrating dubious right wingers suddenly decided that communism was worth considering on the basis of gender critical belief!

MNHQ has hidden the questions for Sunak thread. I wonder why?

Well it was hardly going well.

Funniest thing is it was most certainly not troll infested. Almost all of the questions were very valid and god.

I wonder if we will be gaslit into being told it never happened. I can't see the results being published.

Saucery · 23/06/2024 16:12

I thought the questions were going ok, some really good ones in there. One was racist, maybe people jumped on that bandwagon, who knows?

Piggywaspushed · 23/06/2024 16:14

Marxism and Communism have literally ignored women for years, never seeing them in terms of exploitation. Hence the need for Marxist feminists. Some lovely irony in that there statement.

Not really - it would be the most logical thing in the world. In fact the only real question is why didn't it happen sooner.

During the Brexit business, even die hard dyed in the wool true blue God Save The Queen flag shagging patriots were ready to burn ol' Liz at the stake if she dared get between them and their Brexit, That's why they had to go so very very quiet when Boris was sticking two fingers up at The Queen when Prince Philip passed on.

Remember I am almost a lifelong republican. Seeing that picture of a poor old lady obeying the laws her government had made to show solidarity with a scared and confused population bought tears to my eyes. And the total and utter lack of any condemnation of Boris from the tory party is one of the reasons they are so despised. It wasn't that long since I had lost my mother, so it really chimed.

Surely not ... Translation courtesy of "Nigel" at Reform Linguistic services Ltd.

The image you provided appears to be a Soviet propaganda poster. The text is in Russian and can be translated as follows:
Top Section:

  • "Организуем самодеятельные столовые в ЖАКТах"
  • "Let's organize self-service canteens in ZhAKT (Housing and Communal Services)"
Middle Section:
  • "Освободим женщин от кухонной кабалы"
  • "Let's free women from kitchen slavery"
Bottom Section:
  • "Для работы в социалистическом производстве"
  • "For work in socialist production"
The poster advocates for the organization of communal dining facilities to free women from household kitchen duties, thereby enabling them to contribute more to socialist production. This reflects the Soviet era's push for gender equality by encouraging women to participate more actively in the workforce and reducing their domestic burdens through communal services.

MNHQ has hidden the questions for Sunak thread. I wonder why?

I suspect it will come back shorter.

Piggywaspushed · 23/06/2024 16:30

What I meant was never seeing them as being doubly exploited in Capitalist systems.. It was all about the menz and their alienation and oppression at the hands of that nasty bourgeoisie. The women just stayed at home propping up the men so they'd hurry on back to work the next day, bathed and fed and needing to provide for their wives and children. The revolution was never meant to be for us...

Piggywaspushed · 23/06/2024 16:31

That poster is hilarious.

L1ttledrummergirl · 23/06/2024 16:32

They said they were closing it today, so that's probably why.

I'm expecting them to cherry pick the questions and give pointless, waffley answers that mean nothing.

That poster is hilarious.

I was looking for ones from my history studies - women on combine harvesters and the Soviet answer to Rosie the Riveter.

really the FWR cabal are missing a trick. The biggest drivers to womens rights in the UK the past 100 years has been 2 world wars. They should be organising the FWR equivalent of the Jarrow March to Clacton and get Thee behind Farage.

I reckon my question will be the most controversial. About biscuits no less.

Wish I'd added Jammie Dodger as an option now.

I thought we avoided TRA stuff in this thread? Be good if it went both ways.

I reckon he's pulled out

Notonthestairs · 23/06/2024 17:25

Why would he pull out?

It's not as if he was going to answer the questions personally. They'll have been sent in to a minion to deal with.

I suppose he might be short staffed given the numbers of gambling involved employees.

DuncinToffee · 23/06/2024 17:50

He has given up

The Prime Minister’s leaflets say Rishi Sunak will be a “local champion” focused on “safeguarding the friarage’s future”

The colour is a bit wishy-washy too

Unless L/Ds and Green's lend the Labour candidate their vote, Sunak looks to hold on to his seat.
