I am having a party. I have my election night cocktails planned 🥂🎉
Tory tears - gin and bitter lemon
Metropolitan elite ( basically a cosmopolitan)
Wipeout (all the alcohol and pineapple juice)
Espresso martini - obvs.

Can't wait 🍍😂

countrygirl99 · 06/06/2024 17:59

We're having an early tea then napping for a couple of hours. Then it will be swapping WhatsApp messages with son on Finland to keep awake.

I have to give some thought. Will be watching ‘with’ a friend who lives miles away. Lots of texting will ensue

Notonthestairs · 06/06/2024 18:05

Thanks Duncin Brew and lovely news Tokyo 🗳️

Struggle to understand why Sunak would leave D-Day commemorations early. That's somewhere I expect a UK Prime Minister to be!

TokyoSushi · 06/06/2024 18:09

I think he's thought, well I'm never going to see any of these people again in 5 weeks time, I can't be arsed with it so I'm off! Not very respectful...

L1ttledrummergirl · 06/06/2024 18:13

It shows how little he knows, cares and understands about our history and traditions.

If he is still turning up to the remembrance day service in 10 years time I will be utterly amazed.

Meanwhile, a crystal clear example of the problems of doing things "the British way", where you nick one piece of a system, and the wonder why you can't get the whole cake. Not a problem confined to the Tories.

Quite. I'm in Sweden where we also have national service. My DD applied for her first teaching job in her final year of university. Got a job in another town in the April. Applied straight away for 'council housing' and moved in to her top notch, 2 bedroom flat in the July with a secure tenancy for life if she wants it.

user8800 · 06/06/2024 18:20

I'm at the opening night of another of my dcs show😪 on 5th 😊
So I won't see the exit poll until the curtain closes 😬

Thought I’d pay cat tax of the dear departed Cordelia, easily the most beautiful cat in the world before her untimely death from a heart condition caused by over breeding - she was a rescue from a dodgy breeder (as is my surviving cat). She was a physical representation of what happens when profit is the only goal 💔

She's beautiful Flowers

Our current two are probably from a kitten farm (have an extremely dodgy looking pedigree): we got them when they were 6 months old from a a guy who wanted them to be able to go outside as they were finding his flat too small. We were desperate to get another two as our 12 year old cat was really lonely (after our other cat - 9 years old - was killed by a car going 60mph in a 30 zone while he was unbeknownst to us visiting a nursery a couple of streets away where he was apparently well known & loved) and our usual breeder wasn't breeding at the time. Fortunately they seem to be very healthy (8 years old now) Smile

Oh my goodness. Look at this from The Telegraph.

The Redfield & Wilton survey put Nigel Farage’s party on 19 per cent of the voteamong those in the 55-64 and 65+ age brackets, compared to 14 and 17 per cent respectively for the Conservatives. The poll of 2,000 adults is also the second in one day to show Reform within just two points of the Tories overall.

General election latest: Reform overtakes Tories among over 55s

Reform UK has overtaken the Tories among over-55s, a new poll has suggested.

Thanks for the new thread!

Have the Tories gone yet?

... Soon, my pretty, soon...

@BIossomtoes it’s concerning for sure, one can only hope the votes are split enough that neither the Tories or Reform will win. People who would vote for other parties aren’t going to switch to Reform.

Exactly. If they’re splitting the Tory vote they can fill their boots as far as I’m concerned.

@DuncinToffee as I said earlier I wonder if they wanted to avoid him making some ridiculous gaffe. He has no common ground with anyone who hasn’t had his life experiences.

I agree. I am sure that Liz Truss, Boris Johnson or David Cameron would have stayed.

Though very glad our country is not represented at such an event by Boris Johnson.

It makes you wonder who advices him. Maybe Dave wanted the limelight.

Name change suspended for commenting. Paying the cat tax, as King of Cats tries to wash the Tory off himself...

@MaybeNotBob - I've never yet been deleted that I'm aware of Wink but certain "new" posters on some of the Election threads have stretched my reserves of passive aggressive comments polite but pointed rebuttal Hmm

Hi Prettybird - I was commenting on pretty much the same thing - lots of new posters feigning an interest in Reform Ltd etc...

Anyway, just saw this on twitter for the "knows what a woman is" crowd...
