Definitely lie related I think, he seems to have lost The Times as well as The Spectator judging by today’s cartoon

Another one, Sam Trask

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/tory-election-candidate-quits-after-32972622

A Tory candidate in key battleground seat has quit the election race after being exposed for making lurid sexual comments about women.

Another fine example of the way the Tories 'know what a woman is '.

It's s bit ironic that I tried to pay my Cat Tax in the wrong place. Grin

Can I claim a rebate? Wink

Are we seeing a new age of political commentary ? Possibly a golden age ?

Seems to me the last 2 weeks have thrown up some moments that would easily form the preface to a book "half a millennia of political trolling".

For me the high point is the LibDems boat behind Sunak. Pure perfection.

I'd start with that, and then the Liz/Lettuce episode. Which I feel will be popping up in history books 300 years from now.

Gillray would feel at home, I am quite sure.

Urgh was just thinking, catching up on this thread, how even if Farage loses Clacton this time, and Reform underperform, we won't have seen the last of him.

Like the Trumps and Berlusconis of this world, he hangs around and is harder to get rid of than dog shit chewing gum on your shoe! In Farage's case it's because he's a grifter of course.

But will they manage to pull in a new base of supporters to keep the ponzi scheme alive ? Eventually someone will emerge whose only way to power is to <ahem> ensure the path is clear.

The careers of many Roman emperors springs to mind. Old Nige has already had to dump UKIP before they dumped him.

tobee · 06/06/2024 14:22

Thinking like that makes me feel more optimistic @SerendipityJane

As an MP will Frage be under more scrutiny? Codes of conduct et al?

Will Farage win ? Is a side bet here. Remember this is a man who lost to a man dressed as a dolphin.

Maybe someone could persuade Lozza "the" Fox to stand in Clappedoutcton,

DuncinToffee · 06/06/2024 15:02

He will be off to the US to support his orange mate, how is that going to work?

OP posts:
Evenstar · 06/06/2024 15:09

I think his orange chum is likely to be behind bars so probably won’t be in need of his services. I think that’s why he “changed his mind” and decided on an eighth attempt at getting elected. Hoping we may see lots of other candidates to take votes away from him.

prettybird · 06/06/2024 15:12

He certainly won't be in Clacton on Fridays Grin

But at least the voters in Clacton won't be able to complain that they didn't know what they were voting for, as he's been explicit about that Wink

It's also possible (at the same time) that Trump has no use for someone who isn't useful. Which sans his "lawmaker"* moniker is a perfect description of Farage.

*along with "senior" another you-don't-need-to-look-for-the-origin marker on headlines.
