I'm fully state - comprehensive
- educated. I, my parents, the school were all highly aspirational
The only reason I didn't become a doctor - like my dad
- was because I didn't want to (although my results were good enough to have done so
). But he never pushed me - just encouraged me to do my best.
Many of my school friends (from said state comprehensive school
) went on to medical or vet school - one of them to Oxbridge.
I did get a really good job after graduation on the mill round - so my education must have done some good
But maybe that "aspiration" is because I'm in Scotland
