Tories are struggling to find enough candidates

😂

I'm genuinely shocked by some threads on here at the moment. It is really eye opening.

I’m shocked that you’re shocked. I’m bored, the obsessions with the trans issue and school fees is getting very tedious.

Piggywaspushed · 05/06/2024 19:09

I must say Twitter has no truck with what MN thinks. I'm afraid they mainly think we're a bunch of right wing, permanently outraged over privileged women. Become a bit of a laughing stock.

These threads are certainly a beacon of rationality and political sanity, albeit with extra cats, plants and other random pictorial contributions.

Oh me too, the latest school VAT thread is lunacy, plus the faux naivety of some posters starting threads.

Anyone see VCM on HIGNFY last week. She (or the scriptwriters, but she's a dab hand with the pen herself) said interviewers should preface any question to Sunak with "So, what would you do if you were prime minister ?". That way his answers make more sense despite the fact the Tories have been in power for nearly 3 Stone Roses albums.

There are three Stone Roses albums, but one is a bootleg.

If the Tories made albums, all three would be bootlegs.

Caring isn’t just my family's story, it is the story of millions, caring for each other, dealing with tough times, and keeping going with love.

Sharing our story hasn't been easy, but it's important. It's time to bring carers' experiences into the light.

I like this from Ed Davey. Carers are spoken about nearly enough.

Notonthestairs · 05/06/2024 20:23

#Ridge: How much has tax gone up, under the Tories, since 2019?

Bim Afolami(Tory): It's difficult to calculate...

SR: It's gone by £13,000 per household.... £2,000 sounds like a bit of a bargain.

Rishi Sunak put forward Jamie Dimon and Eric Schmidt for UK honours

US citizens.
Dimon is JP Morgan Chase boss.
Schmidt head of Google.

Greasing a few palms on his way out.

It's a great video. Very moving. I like Ed Davey.

I seem to have something in my eye.

I don’t think the LDs will become the opposition but I can’t help thinking that it would make a huge difference if the PM and the leader of opposition were fundamentally decent people. Might make PMQs refreshingly dull though.

BIossomtoes · 05/06/2024 20:58

That’s got to be the most powerful party political broadcast I’ve ever seen. What contrast to the Tory front bench.

prettybird · 05/06/2024 21:00

I think in the absence of proper PR, tactical voting is really going to come into play this election.

Hopefully that will keep Reform at bay.

BIossomtoes · 05/06/2024 21:10

Unfortunately I have a horrible feeling Farage is going to win Clacton. The amount of disruption he’s likely to cause as an MP is huge. He’ll play all the old tricks he got up to in the European Parliament.

I’d love to know how the sentence about ‘how if you look at disposable income’ was going to end? Is he really going to go down that road after Truss and a cost of living crisis and poverty rising?

BIossomtoes · 05/06/2024 21:27

I really hope that £13k in four years is produced every time tax is mentioned. It should be hammered home in Friday’s debate and I hope Starmer calls Sunak out on it - and his lie - next week.

Apologies, but the irony of that T shirt is something else.

The only thing I am vaguely aware of with Fromage (and it doesn't show my best side) is that with his penchant for booze and fags and public speaking, he has a high likelihood of becoming someone who's heart failure is caught on camera. I'm not trying to bring it on or encourage it in any way but the increasing likelihood has certainly crossed my mind.

prettybird · 05/06/2024 21:38

I have literally just guiltily said something similar to dh fabio12 Hmm

Notonthestairs · 05/06/2024 21:39

On @SophyRidgeSky tonight, @BimAfolami had the nerve - once again - to defend Sunak's lies and try to gaslight an entire country by claiming Sunak NEVER SAID the £2,000 costing was done by civil servants.

Well, here is the clip of what Sunak actually said last night. Share it.

x.com/sturdyalex/status/1798451363300733407?s=46&t=Uw4lJNwxFZFnX0Xs3doHYg

Think Chris Philp tried the same lie elsewhere.

It's like Sunak and the Conservatives forgot that they were on national telly, being recorded and we could see & hear him.
Really odd.
