Well ...me going for a wee and putting the kettle on , must have been lucky !! 😂😂

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 30/06/2024 19:13

The first roses on my Emily Brontë rose, planted as a bare root last November, are lovely.

And I have just realised that one smallish bag of Jersey Royals will not be quite enough for me and dh 🐷🐷 - I’ve had to take a few from bag 2.

Multi-tasking at it's finest:
Woke up and took both dc to washroom, diapers off, toddler put on toilet, diaper on baby, brushed my teeth, brushed baby's "teeth", toddler off toilet, diaper on toddler, brushed toddler's teeth, washed my face, used toilet, washed baby's face, washed toddler's face, did sinus rinse. Strip bed and put sheets into wash. Off to kitchen, milk for toddler, water bottle for me, all to living room, bf baby. Me to kitchen again, start breakfast making pancakes, check living room about 6 times to referee dc, one rescue of baby after toddler comes into kitchen to tell me (proudly) that baby is on couch, run to catch baby just before falling, 😅, back to kitchen and resumes making pancakes and get coffee on. Heat milk for latte and get toddler's breakfast first and more milk. Referee between dc and remind toddler to eat at the table. Get my breakfast onto plate and make latte, go to living room to watch soccer and eat breakfast. Toddler has poo diaper so run to washroom to change diaper. Return to living room, baby crying, check diaper, also has poo. Run to washroom to change diaper. Return to living room pick up plate and pop into microwave. Eat breakfast then put sheets into dryer and an another load into washer. Watch a few more minutes soccer and clean up kitchen. Wipe baby, spit up then floor. Wipe floor under table, floor in hallway and baseboards. Put away laundry hanging on rack. Hang laundry from washer and put in another load. Get strawberries for toddler, more milk and water. Catch more soccer. Hang laundry and put another load on. Nurse baby. There goes 3 hours.

ETA and see that England won in extra time. Crowd singing Sweet Caroline.

Penguinsa · 30/06/2024 20:36

Lovely cake Havoc.

Sounds a great meal MissC.

I am a bit dizzy with the COVID symptoms and catching up on sleep but sleeping in day and not at night but taste and smell are coming back. Feel like when you have come off one of those spinning fairground rides.

DD went out for day with friends. Had Sunday lunch then haagen dazs ice cream Belgian choc small tub and now just having blue cheese and strawberries. Strawberries are huge and juicy, love nice strawberries, they are often not great here but these are amazing.

Got cough medicine and anti histamines. Thankfully my next meeting isn't until 4th. I don't feel that I'll just out of it and dizzy. I am about to have Borneo rainforest tea with milk, they drink it black but I'm English so have to add milk. Like normal tea with more flavour.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/06/2024 21:37

Good call to take it easy, Penguinsa. I'm not smelling burning anymore and just feel tired around eyes and stuffy. Come by for cake if you feel up for it, or I can drop some by. 😺
Have been puttering on overdue tasks and chores here while baby napped and now have Havoc down for nap. Baby nursing and falling back asleep. 😇 Have got Spain/Georgia soccer on. Looks like not getting out til late afternoon, but that's fine with me. 😀

Just wanted to pop across and say hi. I lost the thread.

Just to add to dull news I have had a lovely weekend and went for a woodland walk today.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 30: Calmly through the day
bizzey · 30/06/2024 22:52

Havoc...

  1. are you watching on Sky Sports or something?
  2. Why are you watching the Euros ?
  3. My son's are so impressed that I " know " someone in Canada watching the Euros !! 😂😂😂😂😂

Thanks for the cake !
I needed it 😂

bizzey · 30/06/2024 22:54

Lemonds ....that looks beautiful!
And so calm and peaceful.

That is sio the place I needed to go to for a walk a few weeks ago !

Penguinsa · 30/06/2024 22:56

Thanks Havoc. Glad you are getting better too. Would love some cake.

Welcome back Lemons. Lovely photo. Are you off for summer soon, guess its a few weeks to go.

Hope everything is Ok @HelenaJustina and through exam season fine.

bizzey · 30/06/2024 22:57

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER ...hello !
How wonderful that you have a bloom.
We love photos of flowers in this thread .!

MissConductUS · 30/06/2024 22:59

Welcome, @GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER, and thanks for sharing your calming garden and gustatory news. My roses bloomed a while ago, but the bushes are 20 years old, and we've had a lot of hot weather here in New York. I will confess that I had to google "Jersey Royals", and had assumed that they were some type of sweet or candy.

Penguinsa, covid is absolutely horrible. I hope feel better soon.

Lemons, it's lovely to see you back. I'm so glad you found the thread again,

DD and SiL have been having a lazy day, adjusting to the time change.

I made blueberry pecan bread using some of the blueberries from the pick your own farm we went to yesterday. It came out well. I had that slice on the cutting board with a cup of coffee earlier.

Lemons, nice to see you again! 😄
Thanks, Penguinsa, cake helps. 🤭
Bizzey: watching 'cuz it's a big tourney; it's on US and Canadian tv channels here and everyone gets a few US channels as part of basic tv packages. Agree it's fun to chat with someone abroad in real time! 👍😊

Soccer as a recreational sport is pretty common here. All kids pretty much learn it as part of PE throughout school and a lot at some point play/learn on teams on ie weekends/after school/summer. My dad coached, so I had a lot of exposure. I've had Havoc (under 3) learning since spring. Locally can be pretty competitive with different team levels. We have a pro team that was huge at one time, but is still popular.

Watching the Celine Dion doc on Prime. Have always taken her for granted as she has been part of our pop culture forever, but seeing her in a new light given her rare illness. Respect.

Been feeling good today !
Just realised...I must have had endorphins released in my system due to having all my boys here !

I didn't know I needed endorphins as much ! 😂😂

Been a bit low in them lately!

Back to the grindstone tomorrow with a yet another hospital appointment with ds3 to cardiology 🫀 🫀!

We had such a laugh today !

We are going away in a few weeks...just for a night ...but just us 4 ...and we have started thinking about what to do !

bizzey · 30/06/2024 23:54

Ohh my ...I have just realised....I have football and TENNIS to catch up on this week ! 😂

Umanresources · 01/07/2024 00:00

Hi @GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER . I know what you mean about the Jersey Royals. We love them here too but I’m sure they don’t taste quite as good as when you had to wash and scrape them yourself! (Shows how old I am)

Havoc you make me exhausted just reading about your day. I envy you your energy. We aren’t huge football fans in this house, but my OH likes to watch special matches. He’s actually an Arsenal fan, but we are Manchester United fans if we have to choose. We did manage to see the England goals today, thank goodness.

I used to watch Wimbledon, but I’m not a fan of the grunting and I’m sure all the aces served are very skilful, but I miss the rallies, when it used to get very exciting. I’m of the Ilie Nastase, Jimmy Connors, Billie Jean King, Chris Evert etc. era! Groups of us used to play tennis during the school holidays, at the local park, such fun times. It always seemed to be sunny as well.

@Penguinsa hope you feel better soon.

@bizzey you sound more cheerful now, thank goodness

Umanresources · 01/07/2024 00:11

I’ve found a new TV channel. We have an LG television and there is now an LG channel, which has quite a few old programmes. I’ve been enjoying black and white re-runs of Bewitched from the very first episodes. I feel as though I’m reliving my childhood, especially as I’ve also found the original Batman series. 🤣 I just need the Monkees on now and I’ll be in 7th heaven 👵🏻 to 👧🏼 in a couple of months!

bizzey · 01/07/2024 00:48

@Umanresources ...thank you 😍..
That sentence gave me a real boost !

Mumtobabyhavoc · 01/07/2024 03:31

Uman, I looove watching tennis! I try to catch it on tv when it's on. Yeah, been pretty much non-stop today.

so, didn't get out afterall. 🤷‍♀️ Havoc slept late, then baby again. Havoc broke a bowl and I ended up having to do a lot of cleaning as shards and slivers flew far and wide. 🤦‍♀️ I then ordered shoes for Havoc and I, but had to hunt for my wallet, so that took longer. Got all sweaty from cleaning again so just took a bath and put dinner on. Making salmon, potatoes and corn on the cob. Will likely have a slice of cake again. 🤭
Watched a couple episodes of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel while cleaning. Have got CNN's Violent Earth series on now. Baby is nursing. Havoc is stir crazy. Will have to do a late walk or sleep will be impossible.

mathanxiety · 01/07/2024 05:37

Uman so many memories of tennis and TV of yore. I remember watching a show called Banana Splits, as well as The Monkees, and a Pink Panther cartoon.

HelenaJustina · 01/07/2024 06:30

Hi all, thanks for the shout @Penguinsa All fine here, exams have been over for 2 weeks. Now racing through the second maddest part of the year towards the finish line of the end-of-term! 3 DC and a whole school being dragged along with me.

Deathraystare · 01/07/2024 08:03

@bizzey

Oh dear Bizzey. I rely on you going around like a mad thing with your cleaning and tiring me out just reading about it all!

I have done not much at all in my room. It is only one room! My excuse is (well apart from being bone idle, that is) my room is stifling! There is no heating on. I never put the heating on even in winter! I must get a fan. I am through meno so that is not why my face and neck are dripping.

I managed to get the shower a bit cooler. It is better than when the thermostat went but I had to use a flannel to turn the blasted handle round. It was so stiff and not comfortable to use at all. Somehow I have managed to get a sore rash on my neck but I don't think it was from the shampoo or conditioner although it feels like I didn't was off the conditioner properly because I have had the feeling before but not sore. It is like pulling hair. I think it is the frizz ease, some must have dripped from my hair.
@mathanxiety
Yeah! I loved the banana splits. Every so often I sing the song to myself! The Monkees! Was this the first manufactured boy band?! I preferred them to the Beatles and got all their records! Do you remember the Pink Panther strawberry flavoured chocolate? Disgusting! But I ate it!!

@Mumtobabyhavoc

Amazing how many shards there are. I should know because I am such a klutz! Also I often ponder on how much liquid pours our of a spilled cup when you have actually nearly finished it! How come the kitchen is awash from a mouthfull (or would have been if it had not been spilled) of tea!

And now you are tiring me out reading about your day! What with you and Bizey, I will have to lie down in a minute! (Best not as I am at work!).

@Penguinsa

I am shocked! After a lovely holiday you fall ill! It seems Covid is still around. We had it on a ward recently. I was listening to a guy on his phone in the lift where I live and he works near me. They had a measles out break at a school and he was trying to set up some vaccinations (goodluck with that, mate!).

And finally what is all this about f*ball. I hate all sports but love to see the opening of the Olympics though it pisses me off that the cameras fixate on how many Americans/Canadians/English there are. I prefer to see the lesser know countries, expecially those wearing native costume. I can remember not too far back when I had not heard of Djibouti! I mentioned this to a porter at work who happens to be Somalian and he told me they were his next door neighbours!!
